This is a recap of OVW TV Episode 783 that will be aired in Louisville on 8/23 and is available online at http://www.ovwrestling.com/tv/783
Michael Titus is wearing his red suit as he is standing in the back when ref Josh Ashcraft appears. Ashcraft is all giddy because ref Jordan Barker is absent tonight, thus will not be monitoring Ashcraft's performance. Titus wants Ashcraft to exercise his senior official authority and invoke Adam Revolver's rematch clause for tonight so Revolver can get a TV title match against Michael (not PS) Hayes. Ashcraft tells Titus that someone else is scheduled to face Hayes but Titus implores him to get rid of that "loser".
After the show opening, we join OUR OVW Announce Team of "Professor" Dean Hill and "Anchorman" Gilbert Corsey plus OUR OVW Ring Announcer Shannon the Dude has returned! They confirm that Hayes will be defending the TV title later against Revolver so Titus' strategy was successful in that regard.
Match #1: Shiloh Jonze (w/Eric Locker) vs 1/2 of OUR OVW Tag Team Champions "Psychedelic Superstar" Chris Silvio (w/Mary Jane)
Jonze hides behind the curtain as Mary Jane and the hula hoop come out. Jonze grabs poor, defenseless Mary Jane and drags her off, putting his hand over her mouth. Silvio comes through the curtain and is holding up a cookie sheet, which Jonze punches instead of Silvio's face! Silvio punches Jonze before they trade chops in front of the announce table. More ringside brawling takes place until Silvio rolls Jonze into the ring and climbs to the top. The anonymous bald ref calls for the bell as Jonze hits the top rope, crotching Silvio. Jonze commences peppering Silvio with rights and drops a knee on him for 2. Jonze gets whipped across but slides out to the floor where he tries to pull Silvio out but can't. Back in, Jonze is hit with a Silvio double axe handle but ducks a rocket punch and slides back out. Jonze gets in Mary Jane's face and get slapped. Silvio comes off the ropes and dropkicks through the ropes, hitting Jonze who crashes into Mary Jane, sending her into the announce table as we go to break.
We return to see Ashcraft imploring the ref to start counting on Silvio as he and two other refs are checking on Mary Jane. Silvio gets to the apron to break the count but Jonze comes off the top with a knee to send him back to the floor. The refs help Mary Jane to the back as Jonze comes out to ram Silvio into the steel steps. Gilbert suggests that Titus may have an alliance with Jonze. Both wrestlers are back in the ring as Silvio comes off the top with a fist followed by a crucifix for 2. Jonze hits a kneelift and clamps on a sleeper. Silvio fights out but gets bodyslammed then follows Jonze up on the corner and suplexes him off. Silvio is shown asking aloud about Mary Jane as Jonze catches him and atomic drops him for 2 before applying a Boston crab. Silvio scoots toward the ropes but then backs up and headbutts Jonze to get free. Jonze dropkicks Silvio but then misses a frog splash. Silvio connects on a rocket punch for 2 but Locker attacks Silvio for the DQ.
Jamin Olivencia runs out to save Silvio then takes the mic and says it's not going to happen like this, challenging Locker for right now, "in front of our people"! It is noted that Jonze and Locker will be facing OUR OVW Tag Team Champions Silvio and Olivencia at the 9/6 Saturday Night Special for the titles.
Match #2: 1/2 of OUR OVW Tag Team Champions Jamin Olivencia vs Eric Locker (w/Shiloh Jonze)
Ashcraft imposes himself to be the ref here as Silvio is gone to the back to check on Mary Jane. Armbars get traded as Dean believes Locker can be a star here but hopes he can come over from the dark side. Locker whips Jamin to the corner and Jamin gets the boot up but Locker grabs it and yanks him down to the mat. Locker pounds away on Jamin for a bit then clamps on a sleeper. Jamin gets to his feet, staggers a bit, and then gets free of the hold. Jamin hits a missile dropkick, two splashes, and a jumping lariat before popping Jonze as he climbed up on the apron. Silvio runs out to lariat Jonze then climbs on the apron. Locker grabs the distracted Jamin and powerslams him for the pin.
Locker shows off his pearly whites as Jonze raises his hand in glorious triumph.
Hayes is warming up in the back when "Mexicutioner" Roberto DeLuna and Randy Terrez walk up. DeLuna says something in Spanish and Terrez translates it to mean that they can't wait to see Hayes victorious later on. Hayes says there won't be a three count because he's tired of fooling with Revolver and will instead put him in the Liberty Lock to win!
OVWrestling.com commercial airs that shows episode 660 on the front page which coincidentally is the first episode of OVW that I watched.
Gilbert and Dean reiterate that Titus is up to shenanigans.
Match #3: "Diamond Steel" Ryan Howe vs Deonta Davis
It happens to be Howe's birthday as I am typing this, so Happy Birthday! Howe is playing a Hollow Body Ibanez guitar according to Dean, who admits that he and Howe have had a few jam sessions together. The anonymous bald ref is in charge here as Davis grabs a waistlock that quickly gets reversed. Howe hits a hard forearm shot followed by a drop-n-pop, a neckbreaker, and finally a Chart Topper for the pin.
Howe plays a second solo as Dean is still bothered by the destruction of Howe's other guitar last week by The Congregation. Speaking of which, here comes The Congregation ("Pastor of Disaster" Rev. Stuart Miles, "Altar Boy" Jay Dawson, and "Apostle" Jake Glasure)! Miles says that no one came here to hear the devil's music! He has warned Howe for far too long but in Elizabethtown (on 8/23), Howe will meet his maker! Howe calls Miles "Stewie" and tells the crowd to make the devil horns sign as he plays "Highway to Hell"!
Match #4: Raul Lamotta vs OUR OVW Champion Mr. Marvelous Melvin Maximus
The anonymous bearded ref is in charge here as Gilbert tells us that Lamotta got this match after an OVW event at the Amvets club in Louisville where tacos were somehow involved. (Maybe someone thought they were at an Incredibly Strange Wrestling show and started throwing tortillas into the ring.) Anyway, Melvin comes out and gets jumped by Marcus Anthony, who rams him into the ringpost the rolls him into the ring. Anthony gives Melvin a one-armed powerbomb before locking in the Crimson Omen. The ref calls for the bell to be rung and two other refs (one who appears to be Nick Dumeyer?) come out to break this up. Anthony slams Melvin and stands over him. So much for Lamotta getting his match with Melvin.
Revolver is doing pushups when he sees some black pinstriped pants. He stands up and it's Titus (who still has the red jacket, BTW). Revolver asks where Titus was last week. Titus reminds Revolver that he works for Titus Enterprises, and that Titus was out working on bringing the company back to full force! Revolver tells Titus that he is ready to get this done, regain the TV title that is.
Gilbert wants to know what "full force" means. (This might help: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Full_Force)
Match #5: Adam Revolver (w/Michael Titus) vs OUR OVW TV Champion Michael (not PS) Hayes
Ashcraft is the ref here as they mat wrestle to start until Revolver breaks away and rolls out to confer with Titus. Revolver comes back in to kick Hayes in the ribs and chop him as the absences of Dylan Bostic and Timmy Danger are brought up on commentary. Hayes chops Revolver, who gets tangled in the ropes. Hayes slams Revolver and goes for the Liberty Lock (which is kind of a standing crossface I guess) but Revolver rakes the face and gets himself free. Revolver suplexes Hayes then sets him up for a tenpunch but Hayes drops under and whips Revolver across and hits a lariat. Hayes can't get the Liberty Lock hooked in so he butterfly suplexes Revolver then kicks him in the head as we go to break.
We return to find the two out on the floor as Hayes decks Revolver with a right. Gilbert says that during the break, Revolver benefitted from an extra long ten count by Ashcraft. Hayes climbs back in the ring and gets all up in Ashcraft's face which provides Revolver with the opportunity to chopblock Hayes. Revolver works the leg to where Hayes is limping badly and barely on his feet. Revolver tries to pull off Hayes' prosthetic leg but Hayes fights him off, so he grapevines Hayes' other leg. Hayes slowly works around and pulls Revolver into an ankle lock but Revolver gets to his feet and turns it into a single leg crab. Hayes small packages Revolver for 2 and gets to his feet but Revolver rolls out. Hayes follows but gets thrown into the ring boards and rolled back in. They both climb up on the same corner and scrap until Hayes slips off and Revolver comes off with an elbow for 2. Revolver whiffs on another elbow but Hayes can't pick him up for a suplex and Revolver gets a really quick 2 on a cover. Hayes tries again and drops Revolver for a fair two count then clamps on the Liberty Lock. Hayes pulls Revolver to the mat and away from the ropes. Revolver is tapping but all Ashcraft can see is him rolling Hayes back, causing Hayes' shoulders to go to the mat. Ashcraft counts the pin for Revolver!
Ashcraft, Titus, and Revolver celebrate as the show goes off.
THOUGHTS: Although there are still two more shows before the 9/6 SNS, they spent most of the show dealing with the top of the card for that night. I wouldn't be surprised to see Danny Davis order a rematch between Revolver and Hayes for next week. There was no other mention of Mary Jane's condition for the rest of the show. Will this bring Silvio and Olivencia together before their title defense? Depending on what takes place in Elizabethtown (which will have happened by the time you read this) will we see Howe allying himself with Rump Thump against The Congregation? Who is Titus bringing back or bringing in? I'll give this show a thumbs in the middle.
