From GWH News:
It brings me great sadness to report that Joey Kidman is dead at the age of 22. Kidman had the potential to achieve pro wrestling stardom. He was sidelined with a serious back injury at the time of his death. The guy had heart and I liked his spirit. His mother, Joy Sheffield Handelman posted as follows:
Joseph Stuart Handelman Joseph Kidman Wild Child Joseph Kidman is absent from his body and present with The Lord. We all thank you for your love, prayers, and support.. Joseph passed away this morning and loved every single one of you whether you were able to come up here or not. Your thoughts and prayers are a blessing at this time and we will keep you updated on anything further.
Two hours later:
We have received such an outpouring of love and support from all of you. Please don't think for one moment that your prayers and love were in vain - Joseph Kidman is healed and more completely than if he had come back to us. We his family have been profoundly hurt but profoundly blessed; we are forever changed for the better. Relationships have been healed and new ones formed. Did God have to have a tragedy to make this happen? Of course not! Would it be better for us if Joe were here with us - a million times yes! Is death an enemy - my Bible says so! But He can and does bring beauty out of ashes and for this we thank Him and all of you for helping us to stand. His father and I are eternally grateful for the privilege of being entrusted with Joseph as our son. Daniel, Bonita, Jeff and Charles Ray with many devoted friends kept watch over him last night. He was not in pain and his heart fought bravely for 24 hours.
We will miss him terribly but we can say with King David that although he will not come to us - we will one day go to him. We covet your continued prayer and support as we go forward to honor Joe and the God who made him and redeemed him. We have to rest for a while before announcing any details about his service --many sleepless nights - but I have permission to share part of this beautiful tribute to Joey as a wrestler from Mark Henry- I hope you read it --
Not very many people are allowed to pursue their dreams and even fewer get to live it. Joey came into the business with the wide eyes of a child in a toy store and he's left his mark as a respected professional wrestler. That's all he wanted to be and that is what he is.
