From Larry Goodman:
Why We Wrestle has a new Triple Crown Champion in the form of the “People’s Captain” Gunner Miller. On the heels of winning the Scenic City Invitational earlier this month, Miller injured the indestructible Stryk Nyn then defeated him to become the second WWW Triple Crown Champion.
In the process, Jeff G. Bailey revealed that he was the evildoer behind the bounty on Stryk Nyn’s head.
The turmoil involving Sim J, Billy Buck and Kevin Blue was amped to new level in the semi-main.
The new comedy character introduced in the undercard and was big hit with the fans.
Since taking the reigns as booker, Dan Wilson’s storytelling has been on point. WWW doesn’t have the roster depth of times past in Cornelia. Wilson is getting the most out of what he has.
This was a good show from WWW. I only wish there were more people there to appreciate it.
55 fans with an abundance of enthusiasm were in attendance. There just weren’t nearly enough of them to get The Church rocking. Emcee Seth Delay asked for a show of hands for first time attendees. There was one newbie in the house.
Creature comforts have never been part of the deal at The Church and WWW isn't moving them in a positive direction. The reconfiguring of the venue remains unfinished and is visually unappealing if not downright depressing.
(1) Adryan Hawkins defeated Trevor Aeon in 8:30. Darryl “Grandpa Booker T” Hall made his WWW debut as referee. They had the heel/face dynamic going for them with chants of “Trevor” for Aeon and “wuss” for Hawkins. Not much chemistry in the wrestling though. Hawkins cheated his way to victory. As Aeon went for a Victory Roll, Hawkins rolled through and grabbed the ropes. Match was OK. It didn’t make me want to see it again and that is where this is headed.I can't put my finger on what's missing with Aeon.
Aeon said Hawkins was a sneaky, sneaky, sneaky person. He was also OK with bending the rules and called Hawkins back out. Hawkins said he beat Aeon just like he said he would and the “cheater” chant wasn’t hurting his feelings. Hawkins said he could beat Aeon in less than 10 minutes anytime, anywhere and would do it again on September 10.
(2) Elijah Evans IV defeated Supernatural in 6:43. Crowd was behind Supernatural from the get go. Evans got on his knees to make light of Supernatural’s size and ate a kick to the face. Evans answered with a pop up haymaker and kicked the crap out of the Undead Luchador. As the dismantling continued, I found myself distracted by Evans’ king-sized nipples. Supernatural rallied with a tornado bulldog but got caught with a spinning Blue Thunder Bomb when he went back to the well. Supernatural showed resiliency with a 619 and Shadows Over Hell ala Delirious. Evans powered Supernatural into position for his finisher. Supernatural escaped and went for a flying crossbody but that body is way too small and Evans converted with the Jackhammer. An enjoyable match if you were able to suspend disbelief on the size difference. Supernatural is over as an underdog.
The Talent Show with JT Talent was next. Talent had his hands full this week. Firstly, the new WWW Tag Team Champions, The Monarchy (Black Baron & Prince Apollo) appeared on the big screen to toot their ever so arrogant horns and dis the Lynch Mob.
Matchmaker Dany Only came out to announce of a rule change - the 20 count on the floor rule was being changed back to a 10 count. Only started to talk about “Fright Night: Last House on the Left” on October 22 when an enraged Nemesis got in his face about his “slave” Jacob Ashworth not being there. Only said he didn’t know where Ashworth and said Nemesis should give him an ankle bracelet. Nemesis told Only he better produce Ashworth the next time (September 10).
WWW Triple Crown Champion Stryk Nyn was the scheduled guest. Talent asked Stryk if he was affected by the bounty on his head. Stryk said whoever had put the price on his head wanted him distracted and there was no way he was going to look past Gunner Miller. Jeff G. Bailey came out with Miller. Stryk said Miller’s accolades spoke for themselves. He was undefeated in Cornelia and the SCI Champion, but he had one problem – Bailey. Stryk said Bailey was filling Miller’s head with garbage on a daily basis. Just like the fans, he saw what Bailey did to Mikael Judas, and if Bailey stuck his nose into his business he would break it.
Bailey said Miller didn’t need his help and Stryk was a coward to suggest it. Bailey called Stryk “a dirty, stinking, no neck, fire breathing, make up wearing weirdo” who was unfit to represent the promotion. Bailey held up a wad of money and said, “Maybe I am everything you said about me.”
With that, Miller speared Stryk out of his boots and wasted him with a chairshot to the head. Styk was bleeding from the forehead. Miiller proceeded to murder Stryk with chairshots to the gut and back until the chair was mangled. Stryk was carried out on a stretcher.
Lynch Mob promo on the big screen. Joey and Matt (with Papa Hales) said they beat Get Along Gang clean at the last show but got jumped 3 on 2 afterward and they were bringing their bigger, badder brother tonight.
Video of a Get Along Gang (CB Suave, Gil Quest and Marko Polo) work out. Polo was pumping iron to show he fully recovered from injury. They weren’t sweating Lynch Mob. Polo had three words for them. “GAG on this.”
(3) Lynch Mob (Joey & Matt & Bane Lynch) defeated Get Along Gang (CB Suave & Marko Polo & Gil Quest with Nina Monet) in 9:51. Bane’s debut with Muji Bear was a big hit. Banestarted with Quest and brought his stuffed bear into play right away. It was wacky and ridiculous and the crowd loved it. GAG was yucking it up when they first laid eyes on him, but they ended up being spooked by Bane and his bear. Bane banged his own head on the turnbuckle and had the place in an uproar with a titty twister on Polo. The other Lynch brother used Bane as a battering ram to bowl GAG over. GAG finally used the number game to isolate Joey. Matt did the honors cleaning house on Suave. Joey hit a sling blade on Polo forcing Suave to break up Matt’s pin attempt. Suave tried to use a chair but Bane snatched it out of his hands and Matt rolled him up. The match and Bane’s debut exceeded all expectations. Bane is even smaller than Quest. I can see a singles match between them being pretty entertaining.
Postmatch – GAG started to beat on Joey and Matt. Bane cleared the ring like a chair swinging freak but Monet got him from behind with a low blow. GAG took a baseball bat to Lynch Mob to leave them laying.
Slim and Buck were interviewed by Seth Delay in a backstage video segment. Slim said he was good to go despite an elbow injury. Buck warned Slim that he was going to do whatever it took to win. Slim said tagging with Buck must be bad luck referencing his own injury and James Drake being out with a broken ankle. Kevin Blue showed up and tried to reassure Buck that he had his back. Buck wasn’t having it.
(4) Cyrus (with Bobby Moore) defeated Damien Bennett in 4:14. I’m becoming a big Cyrus fan. He sold just enough for Bennett without being taken off his feet. He limits his offense to moves that look impressive and makes them register. He has best Vader Bomb around. Cyrus pulled Bennett up at two after hitting the Vader Bomb. Bennett evaded a second Vader Bomb but Cyrus put him away for good with a Black Hole Slam. Cyrus came across as the monster Southern Bastard Crew needs to be taken seriously as a force.
(5) Aja “Super” Perera defeated Jessica Leigh (with Bobby Moore) in 7:50. Perera’s overly caffeinated entrance got over with the crowd. She was carrying a Mellow Mushroom box. The gimmick is that she gets a magical boost from eating pizza. She’s developed a better look and does a great job of keeping the people involved. Leigh’s sourpuss attitude fits right in with the SBC and a stark contrast to Perera. Aja was in control until Leigh planted her when she tried for a bicycle kick. Leigh took control with power moves. Perera crawled to the corner for a bite of pizza to spark her comeback. She did a tope on Moore and Leigh. Perera set up her finisher with a preposterous rolling trip. She pinned Leigh with a hammerlock flatliner. Some wonky spots but an effective match overall.
(6) Billy Buck defeated Slim J in 7:31. Shit stirrer extraordinaire Kevin Blue joined Michael Gentry on color commentary. Slim’s intro got a bigger response than Buck’s. It started as a slugfest leading to mild dueling chants and bumping of chests. Buck knocked Sim off the apron further injuring his elbow in the process. Blue came down from the announcer’s booth and was confronted by Buck. Back inside, Buck worked over the injured elbow and saying “I told you” to Slim. Slim was in agony. The fans started to turn on Buck a bit. Buck escaped Screwdriver on the Rocks but Slim brought the wheelbarrow flatliner out of mothballs for a near fall. Slim tried for the flying reverse DDT and couldn’t pull it off due to the injury. Slim went for a moonsault and Buck nailed him in midair with the superkick for a great looking finish. These guys work so well together. I would say Slim’s selling was tremendous but the elbow injury was legit so not sure much selling was involved. IT felt like a struggle between two guys with a real conflict and didn’t go long which would not have made sense in the context of Slim’s injury.
Buck tried to console Slim after the match. Slim wanted no part of it. Blue attacked both of them from behind. Slim went wild attacking everyone in sight – Blue, Buck and an assortment of WWW personnel trying to get him under control including matchmaker Only.
(7) Gunner Miller (with Jeff G. Bailey) defeated Stryk Nyn to win the WWW Triple Crown Championship in 7:06. Stryk’s music played twice. No Stryk. Dee Byers started the 10 count. Stryk hobbled to the ring clearly in no shape to compete. Miller was merciless. He attacked Stryk’s back and gut with a vengeance. Stryk got off an occasionally flurry but he was gasping for breath. Stryk refused to submit to a bearhug. He tried to fire up a comeback but Miller took him to Suplex City. Out of nowhere, Stryk decked Miller with a HUGE right hand. Miller saw the spear coming and slid to the apron. Stryk tried for the FFD but too much damage had been done. Miller escaped and ended his title reign with the CTE. Match was just what it needed to be for the story they were telling. It was brutally stiff and short with Miller showing killer instinct and Stryk selling for all he was worth.
