From Rob Brodhecker:
It has been seven weeks since the last PWA show where Shane Marx beat Sal Rinauro for the PWA Heritage Championship under some nefarious circumstances, at the 11th Anniversary show in May. Much like the SFCW show from last weekend, the show after a premier event needs to set the tone for the crowd until the next big show. The seven week layover from May 18th until tonight didn't help. There looks to be 110-115 people in the 68 degrees Villa Rica Civic Center.
Jason Boyd is your ring announcer, and Darryl Hall and Mason Pike are your referees.
Rob Adonis vs. Ben Buchanan
Adonis has been in semi-retirement for the last several years, but the West Georgia fans have a long memory, and immediately the crowd booed him. Adonis matches up size wise with Ben with a few extra pounds. Rob teases like he wants a test of strength, but Ben drops down and sweeps the legs. Rob gains the advantage of using the veteran's wiles and is trying to wear Ben down. Come back from Ben yields a 2 count. The crowd is rallying to Ben. Ben reverses Rob's suplex attempt into a belly to belly suplex for the win, time 9:15. B-. Ben's on the mic calling out Marko Wicker (Marko attacked Ben after Ben's match at the last show), and he wants Marko at the next Peachstate show.
Xin starts off by trying to eat the fingers of Ripley. Ripley has limited ring experience, and that plays in Xin's hands. Ripley is surviving the onslaught thus far. Comeback by Ripley yields a couple of pin attempts. Xin gets Ripley in her finisher, The Eighth Deadly Sin, for the win at 7:25. A decent match from them, C-.
The Southern Mafia (Johnny Rage and Greg Dotson) vs. Shane Noles and Ace Haven (with Amy Haven)
The Mafia withstand the early offense of Shane and Ace and even start doing the arm pump handle routine with the predictable yet still funny results. The Mafia regain control using the typical heel tag team tactics on Ace. Ace makes the tag to Shane, and he cleans the ring out, but he tries to pin the non-legal member of the Mafia. One of the members of the Mafia introduce a dog chain and does an Eddie Geurerro, and Mason buys it and calls for the DQ on Shane. Time 10:55. B-.Shane and Ace are upset, and both teams start to brawl all over the room and then eventually out the front door.
Will Kaution vs. Sal Rinauro
A bit of role reversal for Kaution and Rinauro from other promotions across the state. I've never seen Kaution in the bad guy, and he is working it, including jawing with the fans around the ring and showing off his vicious side. Kaution almost pins Sal, but Sal grabs the bottom rope. Sal is on his comeback and pins Kaution at 11:50 with a DDT. An enjoyable match, B+. Kaution was strong throughout the match.
Intermission
During intermission, The Mafia and Shane and Ace come back out into the ringside area continuing the fight from earlier. They end up in the ring where the Mafia get the upper hand and go get some chairs to bring into the ring. The referees and other help from the back come out and try to stop the Mafia from using the chairs, and one of the help pays the price for interfering.
Brooklyn Creed vs. Crystal Rose(c) for the Peachstate Ladies Championship
The last time these two ladies met for the Peachstate Ladies Championship, Crystal was the one being cheered, and Brooklyn was being booed. "Crystal Meth" chants greet Rose as she makes her entrance. A pretty good back and forth is going on until Xin makes her way to the ring to scout the action and causes a distraction for Brooklyn, Rose covers her, and while Brooklyn has her foot on the ropes, Mason counts to three at 4:26. C+. Xin and Rose start beating on Brooklyn. Ripley comes out to make the save.
PWA is putting forth the effort to build up the Ladies division .and the crowd does seem to be engaged with the matches.
"Marvelous" Michael Stevens vs. Shane Marx(c) with Matt Hankins for the PWA Heritage Championship
Marx comes out to different music this time. The crowd looks at Hankins to see if he has an explanation for the last show, but he just makes his way to the ring and the boos begin. Boyd starts the instruction, and then Hankins grabs the mic and says that the Age of Reconstruction has started. He tells Boyd that he expects perfection. Boyd starts the introduction again, and Hankins grabs the mic and delivers the intro, calling Shane "the Reconstructionist". Shane and Matt stall the opening of the match. Marx tries to sneak attack, but Steven catches him with a couple of kicks to the face of Marx and gets a near fall in the first minute. Hankins' interference gives Marx his opening. "Getting Jiggy with it" starts playing on the speakers and that sparks Steven's comeback. He lands several moves and gets a near fall, and then Shane gives him a right hook, and that ends the rally. They are fighting, and Stevens has Marx pinned, but Hankins pull Hall out of the ring. Hall ejects Hankins from ringside. While Hall was dealing with Hankins, Marx rolls out of the ring. Hall starts to count him out, and Stevens tries to get him back in, but the count of 10 is reached, and Shane is counted out. Time 11:54. Stevens wins by count out, but Marx retains the title.
Hankins and Marx beat a retreat to the back, but soon they come back to the ring because Sal Rinauro is chasing them. They escape Sal and Stevens, but this time PWA Commissioner Tommy TooMuch escorts them back to the ring. Tommy reminds everyone that he had instituted a rule several months ago that there are no automatic championship rematches, but he will do Sal a favor. At the August 3rd show, if he can beat Chip Day, he will get the winner of the rematch of Shane Marx and Michael Stevens, which will be a No Countout match. Hankins and Marx are not happy. Tommy says to play his music, and he leaves. Sal and Michael then go after Shane and Matt and chase them from the ring.
