GIPW is getting to be a not-so-guilty-habit show to attend;
it’s on a Sunday, the show has an early start time so you can get home at a
decent time to get some sleep for the work week, and the quality of the matches
continues to improve. Of the three matches that were advertised, the Championship
tag match of The Exotic Youth and Wright Way to Skrillaville holds the most
interest to me. GIPW will be on Fite TV to be broadcasted later. Cliff McDonald
is your ring announcer. Maestro and The Ultimate Pusher, Tyreke will be on
video commentary. The referees are Mike and Sweeper. I counted 87 +/- people
watching.
Southern Strong Style (Proc the Croc and Jay 2Strong) vs.
Luke Stone and Brandon Whatley.
This looks to be a
face/face match, might change as the match goes on. 2Strong and Whatley catch
each other’s leg for a brief Mexican Standoff. Stone and Whatley isolate
2Strong in the early going. Proc tags in and gator rolls Stone. A double suplex
on Stone for a near fall. SSS has Stone isolated and get a near fall off of a
double team. Stone makes the hot tag to Whatley and he kicks away at 2Strong. Proc
lariats Whatley, Stone spears Proc and everyone’s down. Stone targeting
2Strong, but 2Strong catches him and plants him for a near fall. Austin Towers’
music plays and everyone’s looking at the entrance way. Towers is out and is
slowly making his way to the ring. Towers grabs stone and yanks him out of the
ring and tosses him through several rows of chairs. 2Strong gets choke slammed
and Proc gets the Kobiya kick. Whatley gets choked slammed for good measure as
well. Ref Sweeper throws out the match at 10:55.
Thoughts: An enjoyable match that ended with both teams
remaining face. It never hurts to remind people what Towers is capable of.
Towers sits down in
the ring; Stone manages to get back in the ring as well and he’s pissed and
attacks Towers. Towers gives Stone the codebreaker and locks in the gogoplata
and Stone is out and in need of some help but there’s no one left to give it. Towers
sits back down in the middle of the ring and surveys the carnage he created
before leaving the ring. SSS, Stone and Whatley help each other to the back.
A brief intermission to put a ring board back into place.
The ring announcer and Tyreke stretch things out.
Nathaniel Vanderbilt with Rose Gold vs. Robert Vein of
Transcendent.
Nate’s waving around
a fan made of money. Vein gets a decent pop from the crowd. Vein offers his
hand, Nate slaps it away. A nice little comedy spot happens early with
Vanderbilt as the fall guy. Vein takes over after several minutes of
Vanderbilt’s heel shenanigans. Vein hits the Diamond Cutter on Vanderbilt to
pick up the win at 8:18.
Thoughts: I forgot to ask if this was Vanderbilt and Rose’s
first time at GIPW. If so, they established themselves well.
Rose gets in Vein’s
face and slaps him. Vein turns the other cheek and Rose gives him the low blow.
Rose puts the pumps into the midsection and Vanderbilt gets in a few as well.
Vein’s partner in Transcendent, Jay Riley, comes out to make the save and they
pose before going to the back.
The Good Sisters (Payton and Lizzy Blair) vs. Shalonce
Royal and Reign “The Stallion” Rivers.
Shalonce gets on the
mic and delivers the message that the Renegade Twins had something better to do
than face the GS in a match. Shalonce graciously offers her services as an opponent
to the GS and has searched for someone to make their GIPW debut as her tag
partner: Reign “the Stallion” Rivers. Shalonce gives the crowd a few high notes
to begin the match. I think it has been two years since I last saw the Good
Sisters at SFCW. Rivers is a tall drink of water. Rivers is accusing Royal of
being too chatty in the corner. The sister with the green hair is taking the
heat from Rivers and Royal. Green makes the tag to her sister and she and Royal
square up for a moment. Reign takes her down and gets a near fall. Reign and
Royal are still having issues, Reign didn’t want to tag out. Reign tags out but
Royal runs into a GS double team for a near fall. The GS take advantage of the
communication problems and pin Reign at 12:15. Reign and Royal are yelling at
each other and Royal attacks Reign. The GS run back out to save Reign and run
off Royal, who prances her way to the back.
Thoughts: Could have been about 4 minutes shorter. Royal is
set up as the Diva that no one can get along with for long.
Tony James vs. D-Money.
James was the first
GIPW Champion and he scares the bejeebus out of a little kid on his way to the
ring. Money still calls himself the real GIPW champion and as a fighting
champion, he lets his opponent choose the match. James says he needs to remind
everyone what the Baron of Brutality is all about and this will be a hardcore
match. Money tries to sneak attack with his can of energy drink, James blocks it.
A psychopathic heel vs. a comedy heel, the crowd is more on Money’s side. James
grabs some tin trays from under the ring and slaps the back of Money with them.
Money dodges a shot and returns the favor to James. Money grabs a stop sign,
but James grabs it and slams it on Money’s back. James has a golf club in his
hand, 9 iron maybe? Money has a walking cane, that doesn’t go well. They are
fighting near the merch tables, James gets hit by the 5 foot tall, inflatable
energy drink display. Oh god, not the pool noodles. Money gives the noodles to
some small children and they go to town on James. Money DDT’s James onto the
floor. Money brings out a particle board plank and sets it in-between the ring
and the stage, but he gets decked by a barb wire bat swung by James. The crowd
is chanting Blood Money, oh lort. James stomps on the head of Money, telling
one of the kids who hit him with the noodle, this is for you. James gets a near
fall off of that. James sets Money up on the stage and wants to powerbomb Money
through the board. Money blocks it and gets in a low blow in on James. Money
leaps from the second stage level onto James, through the board, and picks up
the win at 12:34.
Thoughts: the perversely entertaining multiple car wreck. Also,
the only acceptable way for pool noodles to be used in a match.
GIPW Tag Team Championship match: The Wright Way to
Skrillaville (Mr. Wright with Mrs. Wright and Skrilla the Great) vs. The Exotic
Youth (Zach Mosley and Bryce Cannon with Candy Cannoli and Cornelius Pepperbottom)
(c).
WWTS attack the Youth in the entryway and they are fighting around
the ring and venue. Careful of that drywall, guys. They get into the ring and
the match starts. The action is fast and furious with multiple tags by both team,
fast pace is an understatement. The Youth slowed things down on Mr. Wright,
showing some viciousness that I haven’t seen from them before. All four men are
in for a minute of chaos. Candy and Pepperbottom do some damage to Wright out
on the floor. A EY double team mistake leads to the Skrilla hot tag. Skrilla
hits the top rope elbow for a near fall. Pepperbottom gets on the apron, Candy
and Mrs. Wright get involved, Ref Sweeper gets either hit or sprayed in the
eyes in that exchange. Mosley hit Skrilla over the head with something that
exploded everywhere and he’s out. EY double team Mr. Wright and drag the ref
over to make the three count at 12:17. Still GIPW Tag Champs: The Exotic Youth.
Thoughts: The object that Mosely hit Skrilla with was some
sort of brick and pieces flew Everywhere!
Candy gets into it with some ringside fans after the match. Skrilla
had to be carried to the back by a couple of people, he’s totally out of it.
“The California Nightmare” Ehren Black vs. Eric “The
Ghost” Silva.
Robert Vein takes Tyreke’s place on commentary for this
match. Silva throws up the Left Hand
Path hand. Silva gets serenade by an Ehen’s going to kill you chant. Austin
Towers makes an appearance right before the match starts, he has a beer bottle
in his hand. Rut roe, raggy! Towers heads to the commentary table, chasing Vein
away. Black is staring daggers at Towers; Silva offers Black the opportunity to
leave or get his ass kicked. Black tells Silva to kick his ass and the match
starts. Ham hocks start flying in the air, Black gets the better of that
exchange. Silva trips Black into the ropes and starts kicking at the head of
Black. Silva kicks Black in the knee and enzeguris Black’s head in a move
called the Silva Bullet. They are fighting ringside, Silva grabs the California
state flag that Black brought to the ring and ties Black’s arm to the ring
post. Silva shoves the ref out of way and rushes at Black, but Black got loose
and levels Silva to the floor. Back in the ring, Black sets up for a move but
Silva catches him with a jumping flat liner but Black gets knocked out of the
ring and barely makes the ten count. Silva goes for another flat liner, Black
ducks and hits a blue thunder bomb for a near fall. Silva plants Black with
another flat liner and gets the pin at 13:34.
Thoughts: This is where the big boys play!
Towers makes his way
to the ring, looking disappointed at Black. Towers is just staring at Black and
says that he didn’t do anything. The fans want this match booked, Towers says
that Black has to get a dub first. Towers continues to jaw away at the crowd as
he heads to the locker room.
Main event: GIPW Heavyweight Championship match: Shawn
Angelo Montana vs. The Renegade Enforcer(c) with The Ultimate Pusher, Tyreke.
SAM offers his hand,
RE shoves his face away. SAM goes on the attack, but RE brushes him aside. RE
has about 6 inches and several pounds over SAM. Tyreke hits SAM with the billy
club while RE has the ref’s attention. RE throws SAM across the ring a couple
of times, the crowd was in awe of that. SAM is firing back and hits a DDT on a
kneeling RE for a near fall. RE plants SAM with a massive powerbomb for a near
fall. Tyreke can’t believe it and gets in the ring. Ref Sweeper tosses Tyreke
to the back. SAM moves out of the way of a charging RE and RE hits the ring
post. SAM lands the top rope head-butt for a near fall. RE grabs at the ref and then launches himself feet first at SAM. RE
is ground and pounding at SAM, the ref has to pull him off. The ref is checking
on SAM, it looks like he wants to continue. RE is kick shoving SAM across the
ring. SAM is trying to fight back, mostly by dodging the rushing RE. SAM gets
RE over with a German and gets a very near fall. SAM goes up top and hits a
frog splash. SAM goes up again and lands another frog splash, but RE kicks out.
SAM tries to bounce off the ropes, RE takes his head off. RE lifts his foot off
the chest of SAM at the two count; he wants to plant SAM with his finisher and
does so, picking up the win at 13:52.
Thoughts: You knew that Enforcer was going to win, you just
wanted to see how SAM did in the match. I thought he acquitted himself well.
Eric Silva slides
into the ring, teasing cashing in his contract, but backs out. The show ends. They
announce the next show date of August 15th.
Final Thoughts:
Overall, a good show apart from the time of the women’s
match.
We had a set of Face/Face and a Heel/Heel matches in the
show. The face/face had the proper storyline ending. The heel/heel match saw
the less despised (but not the less annoying) heel win.
The crowd wouldn’t piss on Tony James if he was on fire.
The Mosely/Skrilla feud continues unaBASHedly. The adding of
Mr. Wright as Skrilla’s tag partner brings an added element to the mix.
Royal may have pulled a back muscle.
Reign Rivers has an impressive look. I would humbly suggest
switching up the name a bit.
One can be forgiven if one forgets that Eric Silva can move in
and around the ring like that. Just don’t tell him, he might get a big head.
Again, that was the only appropriate use of pool noodles in
wrestling.
Pieces of that brick went all over the place, damn!
Tyreke is Renegade Enforcer’s Mini-Me.
