From Rob Brodhecker:
The saying of “Life is like a box of chocolates; you never know what you’re going to get” gets updated at PCW to “Life is like a bowl of gumbo; you don’t know what’s in it, but it’s better for your palette.” The by the seat of his pants booking of Matt Hankins, with some over arching storylines, lead to scenarios where sometimes you wonder what the hell just happened but you were happy to have seen it.
The only match that I know for certain that will happen is Match
3 of the best of 7 series of matches between Najasism and Nick Halen. Any other
matches will be a surprise to everyone in attendance, and that looks to be about
a 7/9ths full house of about 50 people. Darryl Hall, Paul E. and Ritchie Cabezas
will be your referees
Johnny Danger and Eric Adamz start the show and will do the
in house commentary. The House of ButcHer members Triston Michaels, Nathaniel
Vanderbilt, and Rose Gold come to the ring. Michaels intros Vanderbilt and Gold
as the winners of the tag season. They will face the War horses
The House of ButcHer (Nathaniel Vanderbilt and Rose Gold) vs
The War Horses (Miko and Chico)
Gold and Vanderbilt totally
dominate the Horses in the early going. At one point, Gold and Vanderbilt knock
both War Horses out of the ring, and while Vanderbilt and Gold were playing to
the crowd, a different set of masked wrestlers switched out with Miko and
Chico. These new masked wrestlers roll up Gold and Vanderbilt for a double pin.
The wrestlers unmask and it’s Irving West and Aundey Ripley! ButcHer comes out
and he/she’s not happy. ButcHer knocks Vanderbilt down and out and orders
Michaels to do the same to Gold and he reluctantly does. ButcHer drags Michaels
out of the ring by the ear. Irving and Ripley earn two points.
Thoughts: and here I was thinking the War Horses had
actually won a match. Psych!
Matt Hankins comes out and announces an 8 person match with the
winning team getting points on the tag season.
KC Rocker, Alex Kitel , Agonist, and Warden vs. Eddie Honcho,
Crystal Rose, and Pizza Express (Caleb Teninty and Parker Lee)
Kitel wants Rose, be
careful what you wish for, dude. The action is all over the ring and almost
impossible to describe, Honcho pins Rocker at 5:40 to get the Tag Season
points. After the match, Rocker gets the stinkface from Honcho.
Thoughts: I don’t know much about the members of the heel
team here, but Warden looks like a beast.
Rosario Grillo comes out asking for the mic and he’s 1/2 of
TSF and that they beat Wardlow and Spears on AEW, sounds like he got hit in the
head at that show. His partner is still partying in Jacksonville. This brings
out Pizza Express and they want a match. Grillo is begging off for tonight but in
two weeks TSF and Pizza Express will have a match, but Grillo will have a match
tonight.
Rosario Grillo vs. Kat Spencer
Kat Spencer comes
out. She slaps the taste out of Grillo’s mouth and then spears him to pick up
the win at 8 seconds.
Thoughts: Spencer is for real.
Matt Hankins comes out again and informs Adamz that Grillo
wasn’t Puerto Rican, but Italian, but a Puerto Rican will be in the next match.
Duncan Mitchell vs. Dominque Stuckey
Everyone shakes hands
before the match to the dismay of Adamz. A wrestling match happens, fantastic
back and forth. They do throw some hands leading to a great false finish by
Stuckey. ButcHer comes out with a Kendo
Stick. Matt Hankins comes out and dares ButcHer to attack him instead. ERC runs
into the ring and attacks both Stuckey and Mitchell. The match gets thrown out
at 9:35.
Thoughts: From a competitive standpoint, one would not like
how this match ended, but when you have two faces going at it, what better way
to advance a story line.
Hankins makes a
match at the next show: Dealers Choice match, ERC vs. Duncan Mitchell in a dog
collar match. Hankins sends the show to intermission and Johnny Danger promises
to call out Geter.
Intermission.
Hawk Thomas, ½ of the Demo crew Vs. Lamar Diggs
Diggs and Thomas
stare off in the middle of the ring. Adams and Danger mention the real injury
to Diggs’ leg. This is a hoss fight personified. Thomas targets the injured leg
of Diggs, removing the brace and slamming the leg into the ring post. Diggs
fighting back on one leg and plants Thomas with a sidewalk slam for a near
fall. Thomas gets Diggs in a sharpshooter, but Diggs is able to reach the rope.
Thomas rushes at Diggs and Diggs musters enough leg strength to turn Thomas inside out with a massive
lariat and pins him at 6:38.
Thoughts: Very physical matchup.
Brian Blaze comes
out and jaws at Diggs. Thomas attacks Diggs from behind. Blaze has a chair and lays
waste to Diggs’ leg. The refs come out and pull Diggs out of the ring. Blaze
attacks the leg again with the chair and leaves.
Johnny Danger checks
on Diggs and heads to the ring. This Danger time, the time they gave him to say
whatever he wants. He says that this will be the most foolish thing that he
will say. He calls out Matt Hankins and apologizes to him. Danger says that there’s
one thing he has to do . Hankins says that it’s against his better judgement to
allow Danger what he needs to do but will allow it but “Be careful”. Hankins
leaves the ring and Danger calls for Geter to come to the ring. Geter’s music
plays but ERC comes out, leading Geter to the ring. Danger thanks Geter for
coming to the ring, but things have crossed the line. Danger apologizes to
Geter for some of the things he said during commentary at past shows. Danger
recaps what the old Geter meant to him. He turns his attention to ERC and tells
Geter how ERC will betray Geter at some point. He gives Geter the mic. Geter
says that Danger keeps stepping into the ring when he shouldn’t be. Geter
mentions Danger’s wife Samantha. Danger asks if it’s all good, Geter agrees but
says the line is getting thinner.
Thoughts: A great promo from Danger and response from Geter.
Yeah, a match will happen at some point.
Team Red Dog (Geter and ERC) vs. The Washington Bullets
ERC gets isolated but
eye rakes his way to tagging to Geter. Geter shrugs off Trey’s offense but
misses a sit down splash. Some music plays and Sleepy comes to the ring. Sleepy
and Trey have some history and the distraction allows Geter to attack Trey. Trey
absorbing the punishment from Geter and ERC. Danger is begging Trey to fight
back. Adamz is throwing out Geter facts and Danger is getting frustrated, begging
the Bullets to take out ERC. Trey gets a superkick in on ERC to get the hope
spot. Jon tags in and gives Geter a high knee to stagger him. Jon focuses on
ERC and they fight on the top turnbuckle. Jon hits a pedigree on ERC, but
Geter’s the legal man. The Bullets double team Geter and almost pin him on leg
lariat. Geter rushes at Trey but dumps himself over the top rope. Jon launches
himself onto Geter but Geter catches him and slams Jon into the ring post. While
Ref Hall is checking on Jon, ERC gives Trey a low blow and rolls Trey up for
the win at 12:48. Team Red Dog pick up two points.
Thoughts: Multiple angles being played out during the match;
ERC is getting a Corey Hollis vibe with his tactics.
Danger’s son was
crying and Danger goes and comforts him. Geter continues to antagonize Danger
and his family on his way out of the ring, even blowing Samantha a kiss.
Hankins comes out to
calm down Danger. Hankins encourages Danger’s commentary.
Nick Halen vs. Najasism in the third match of the best of
seven series
The series is tied
up at one win a piece. Cedric Tryell is Naja’s second for the match tonight,
he’s a trainee of Naja. Both men got for submission attempts in the early
going. A jumping double stomp by Naja sends Halen to the outside. Naja jumps on
him. They have a chop fight on the floor. Back in the ring, Halen clips the
knee of Naja and Naja’s in a world of hurt. Halen’s got some blood coming from
his mouth from a Naja kick but continues the attack on Naja’s leg. Halen’s got
the pad and shoe off of Naja. Halen locks in the figure four in the middle of
the ring. Naja reverses and the hold is broken. Halen clips Naja’s leg again. They
trade German suplexes, Naja gets the worse of that. Naja gets a dragon suplex
on Halen and the crowd gets into the comeback. Naja’s hits Halen with strikes
and the iron boot. Naja goes up top and on one leg, hits a frog splash but
Halen was too close to the ropes. Both men are running on fumes, Naja goes up
top again, Halen kicks the leg out. Naja goes for a jumping kick, but Halen catches
the leg. Halen gets the scorpion deathlock in, but can’t hold it. Halen locks
the deathlock in again and Naja passes out at 18:55. Halen now leads the best
of seven series 2-1.
Adamz interviews
Halen after the match. Halen says that anytime a professional sees an opening,
they take advantage. He will see Naja next Friday at ProSouth. The next PCW
show will be July 23rd. Danger and Adamz send the crowd home.
Final thoughts:
I do admit not to being a fan of the live commentary at
shows, but man, Danger and Adamz had me cracking up all night long.
Can we classify the House of ButcHer as a cult now? When
things are going well, ButcHer is happy. When things aren’t going well? Let’s
just say, you don’t want to be the one in the wrong.
The Nightmare kids continue to show up and show out.
I wouldn’t mind if someone books a Kat Spencer/Savanah Evans
program.
Stuckey is looking to branch out from being Mr.
WrestleMerica and is putting himself out there.
Duncan Mitchell is continuing to improve. He should be
moving up Scott Hensley’s list of top 100k wrestlers in the Southeast.
Can ERC bring this smarmy heel persona to other shows?
I don’t know where else Hawk Thomas and the Demo Crew are at,
but I am intrigued.
Geter being creepy on
Johnny Danger’s family is an aspect of his persona that I didn’t know he had,
and it was really creepy.
I’ll have to check my work schedule, but if I can swing it,
I might be at ProSouth to see match 4 of Halen and Najasism. That’s some good
shit going on here and it’s made better because it’s being played out over
several promotions and by the men involved.
