It’s been a while since I’ve been to a WU show, I usually go
to their cousin show, West Ga Wrestling. As it turns out, maybe I should have
tried to come out more often. A couple of interesting matches caught my eye: Rising
stars Duncan Mitchell and Aaron Dallas are fighting, two of the top tag teams
in Georgia and the SE as All-Star Special and The Exotic Youth square up, and
Zach Mosley, Brogan Finlay and Alex Kane will be in a triple threat match.
I counted 60 at bell time. That’s a shame.
Jason Boyd is the ring announcer, Darryl Hall and Butterbean
are the referees.
1st. match: Bobby Flaco vs. Frankie Valentine with Tweety
Flaco should be working heel in this match against the perennially
popular Valentine, and thus, it is so. Very by the book match, nothing fancy,
didn’t need to be; the crowd loves Valentine and Flaco did what was needed to
get the crowd to dislike him and root even more for Valentine. The ending sees Mr.
Black, aka Peanut run to the ring and drag Flaco out of the way of a Valentine
moonsault. Frankie crashes and burns and Flaco follows it up with an RKO for
the win at 7:50.
AJ Black runs ringside with a chair to chase off his father.
AJ gets on the mic and tells his father that he can’t run on the July 9th WGW show.
Taliaferro promo. Taliaferro
comes to the ring leading Michael Martinez and #1 minion: D’Kay. Martinez has
been on AEW. Taliaferro says that Murder 1 left him laying in the ring at the last
show, but the Hierarchy Supreme Leader is not here tonight. Taliaferro calls
for a victim from the back: Lamar Diggs answers the call.
2nd match: Michael Martinez vs. Lamar Diggs
If the first match was a battle of cruiserweights, this is a
battle of heavyweights. Both men are of the same height, Diggs has a few more
pounds on Martinez. Martinez has to take a powder to stop Diggs momentum, Diggs
chases, Taliaferro distracts Diggs. Diggs gets intimate with a ring post after
Martinez ducks out of the way. Delayed vertical suplex by Diggs for a near
fall. Martinez gets Diggs with a Samoan drop for a near fall. Martinez goozles
Diggs, Diggs slips out of the chokeslam and power bombs Martinez for the win at
7:34. Big Diggs energy prevails.
3rd match: Duncan Mitchell vs. Aaron Dallas
Mitchell is sporting a bad attitude here in West Georgia and
has built a good program with Dallas. First two matches, everyone had similar
bodies and styles; this match, similar bodies, plus long hair! Mitchell is
doing his best to avoid locking up with Dallas. Dallas gets his hands on
Mitchell and pounds away. Mitchell retreats from the ring, Dallas follows to
dish out more punishment. A leg sweep into a cross face for Dallas, Mitchell
has to stretch his leg to get to the rope. Dallas leaps over the top rope,
Mitchell hits him with an uppercut, A-Aron’s in trouble now! Bulldog from
Mitchell leaves Dallas standing on his head, yikes! A high knee gives Dallas
some life. Kneeling to standing strike fest leads to Dallas’s full comeback. Awkward
pin attempt by Dallas. Fans are calling for the double ax handle, Mitchel
dodges that and plants Dallas for a near fall. Mitchel misses the punt, Dallas
hits the ax handle for a very near fall. The AA Ron version of the 10 punches
of doom, Mitchell throws him off and Dallas breaks out the ax handle once more
and uses it to pin Mitchell at 12:16.
--Intermission--
Boyd announces that this is Wrestling United’s
final show, they have been absorbed by Southern States. Taliaferro talks up the
Southern States show that is running on Sunday. Southern States will debut in
Temple in August.
4th match for the WU Tag Team Championship: Exotic Youth (Bryce
Cannon and Cornelious Pepperbottom with Zach Mosley) (c) vs. The All-Star Special
( William Huckaby and Hold My Beer Hanson)
A.S.S. come out to Sweet Home Alabama, as always, the crowd
sings along. That’s about the only time people from Georgia willingly say
Alabama. Pepps wants no part of Huck at the bell, he rolls out of the ring and
EY do some calisthenics out on the floor. Hanson rolls Pepps back into the
ring, Huck does his best to cave in what little chest muscles that Pepps has. Pepps
tries to chop back, yeah that goes well. ASS switching delayed suplex for a big
pop. Cannon doesn’t fair much better when he gets in the ring. Mosley saves
Cannon from being tossed from the ring and then sprays Hanson in the eyes while
Pepps has Butterbean distracted. Very interesting double teams from EY on
Hanson in the corner. Shit, Hanson gets double teamed on the floor, a fan
shoves Mosley from behind. It doesn’t escalate and the fan is escorted out of
the building very fast, match continues. Butterbean finally catches Mosley
doing bad things and he’s sent to the back. Huck cleaning house. Cannon uses
the paddle on Huck while the ref was dealing with Pepps, Huck kicks out. This
leads to a double pin and A.S.S. are the new WU tag champs.
Cannon’s yelling that he wasn’t legal and Pepps had his
shoulder up. Butterbean shrugs and walks off. They have the temper tantrum to end all
tantrums in the ring.
Main event and last match in WU history: Zach Mosley of the
Exotic Youth with Cannon and Pepps vs. Brogan Finlay vs. Alex Kane
This will be a match of very mixed styles. Everyone was
mouthing off and didn’t hear the bell ring, so they ring the bell again. Mosley
rolls out of the ring, Finlay says okay and rolls out as well. Kane follows
just because. Everyone’s back in now. Mosley rolls out, Finlay goes to the
ropes, Kane almost schoolboys Finlay. Mosley gets Kane and Finlay to
miscommunicate, then rolls out of the ring and takes a seat to watch Finlay and
Kane fight. Some entertaining stuff there. Finlay’s quasi heel here, working
with Mosley on occasion. Kane double suplexes both Finlay and Mosley. Mosley
bails, Kane chases him, EY run interference, Kane knocks them down. Finlay
Leaps from the top turnbuckle onto Kane. Finlay has Kane beat, Mosley sneaks in
and throws Finlay into the ring post and Mosley pins Kane at 7:23.
And thus, Wrestling United ends with Exotic Youth
celebrating in the ring.
