In what is destined to be one of ProSouth's best matches of the year, Brandon Whatley defeated Joe Black in a no holds barred main event to take the rubber match between them.
Dameon Ceretone defeated Marcus Eriks to capture the ProSouth Championship for the fourth time in his career;
The stage has been set.
If you think ProSouth is lacking in the ring, matches 1 and 5 told a different story.
A livestream of indy southern wrestling every Friday night at 8:30 is undervalued IMO, but I'm a tiny bit biased. I bleed ProSouth blue.
And what to make of an Ugly Ducklings sighting in Piedmont?
Wicked Nemesis and Mathias Darkthorne on the commentary and in rare form. Referees were Lewis Santiago and Cowboy Troy.
Dallas said scheduled opponent Sal Rinauro couldn't make it but he felt like defending the championship. Out came White Mike. WTF?
Mike got on the mic and gave his stream of consciousness free reign. Out came Rob Killjoy and Brother Azriel. Dallas said he was fine with defending the title against all of them.
(1) Aaron Dallas defeated Rob Killjoy and White Mike and Brother Azriel in a fatal four way to retain the Unified All-Out Championship 18:01. Scoop slams all around by Azriel. Wicked said he was better than raisin brain. Azriel then hit a blackhole slam on the champion for big two count. Mike piledrove Killjoy on top of Azriel.. Killjoy launched a blockbuster off the back of Azriel. What kind of mind thinks of stuff like that? Speaking of which: Killjoy applied an Indian deathlock to Azriel and a Gori Special to Dallas, while Mike put Killjoy in an abdominal stretch. Then everybody was down. The Ducklings joined forces for a double team on Azriel. Wicked called it the The Kevorkian. MIke tried to pin Killjoy with feet on the ropes. Killjoy hit his finisher (the Ghostbuster) on Mike but the crowd was still ready to bite on a title change. Killjoy countered Killjoy's Ghostbuster attempt and connected with the Steel Toe to retain.
A creative match in search of an appreciative audience. Dallas owns the fans in Piedmont. They knew he wasn't dropping the title in a random four way, and knew nothing of all that's been going on with Mike and Killjoy, Hopefully they will learn. Azriel's offense was given center stage. Az continues to prove he can hang with high caliber talent.
Killjoy refused to shake hands with Dallas after the match. announce team made the point Dallas had pinned Killjoy the last three times they'd been in the ring together.
Video of Keast and devil mask conversating backstage. The devil guy appeared to be threatening Keast. The audio sucked.
(2) Saraya Saber defeated Virus (with Christian Pierce) in 8:19. Wicked said Saber was a menace to society. Virus was stalking Saber from the opening bell and dominated the offense to where they almost telegraphed Saber was going over. Saber looked to be out on her feet near the end, but gave Virus a butterfly suplex and knee to the face for the win.
The light bulb has switched on for Virus (daughter of Micah and Tracy Taylor). She's wrestling with confidence and developing an interesting heel personality. This was better than Saber's match last week. The crowd wants to get behind her. She needs to get more oomph in her offense.
Trainee Jake did an in-ring interview with ProSouth Champion Marcus Eriks. Jake was so unbearably awful, it had to be intentional. He was using cue cards and still couldn't get his words out. Eriks beat Jake's ass not a moment too soon with Wicked wanting Eriks to hit him harder and calling for replay.
This segment was too perversely horrible to be entertaining, even for me.
Keast came out wearing a neck brace. He claimed he was filmed backstage without his knowledge which was against the law. His neck got injured and to his regret, he would be unable to compete. As a forgiving leader and father figure, he was allowing Garrett to take his spot and since Amy Haven wasn't there, Harley could sanction the match.
You knew where this was going as soon as Keast appeared in the neck brace, which only made it more amusing. Cameron Keast has developed a gift for gab. Any excuse to get him on the mic is OK by me.
(3) Shean Christopher (with Ravenna Vein) defeated Christian Garrett (with Forever YouTube Champion Cameron Keast & Harley Haven) in 7:11. Wicked identified Harley's hair color as sea witch. I say a blonde Harley is more fun. Christopher was killing Garrett until Keast interfered. Christopher took a great bump to the floor. Garrett took control with copious interference by Keast who clutched his neck in agony. Harley grabbed Christopher by the leg but Vein got in her face. Keast jumped in the ring to help Garrett. Christopher tossed Keast over the top on the other side and pinned Garrett with Dirty Pretty.
A TV match in the best sense of the term Christopher's bump off the apron and the way he sold it shifted the tone. Keast's flying Bobby Heenan bump over the top rope made the finish.
Keast and devil mask beat up Christopher after the match. The devil mask guy was revealed as Caeden Ooten.
Let's just say Ooten should fit right as one of Keast's "kids".
(4) Dameon Ceretone defeated Marcus Eriks to win the ProSouth Championship in 15:06. Eriks attacked Ceretone from behind as he entered the ringside area, Referee Troy halfway gave Ceretone a chance to recover before calling for the bell. The beating was on. Wicked said Ceretone would have to reach back to Steampunk Dameon. Eriks was staying on his man. Ceretone looked in really bad shape but climbed back in to where it was a see-saw battle.
Referee Troy ate a forearm as Eriks ducked out the way. Eriks hit Falling in Reverse for a visual fall. Santiago hit the ring and made a three count but waved it off upon seeing Ceretone's hand on the ropes. Ceretone countered a second Falling in Reverse. Eriks shoved Santiago. Ceretone begged Santiago not to DQ Eriks, who was busy bringing a chair into the ring. As Santiago was removing the chair, Ceretone gave Eriks a low blow, and hit Sleep the Deep to take the title home.
Solid match. I wouldn't call it a forgone conclusion the title was changing hands but it wasn't a surprise either. Ceretone has never shied away from doing whatever it takes to win a championship and Eriks certainly had that low blow coming to him.
(5) No Holds Barred: Brandon Whatley defeated Joe Black in 17:41. Whatley not backing down from Black's chops. As the action spills outside, Wcked said he hadn't seen this many white people run since the Black White Matters movement. Joe beating the fucking hell out of Whatley. Whatley busted out a Van Daminator. Black slung Whatley into the wall and almost broke through, eliciting a Jim Morrison reference from Wicked. Whatley was merciless with a chair and deposited Black back inside the barricade with a sickening thud. Black trying to gain separation. Black with a Jimmy Rave tribute STO. Joe picking Whatley apart with strikes. Whatley kicked Black's lariat arm for a two count and focused on the vulnerable body part, leading to a modified Anaconda Vise. Black countered with a crossface but couldn't completely lock it in. After a powerbomb, german and shcrt arm clothesline, Whatley was toast on the outside. But Joe couldn't get Whatley onto his feet and rammed his shoulder into the ringpost to get the joint back in place. Whatley grabbed the nunckucks out of his corner and cracked Joe across the face with them. Black was on rubber legs street. Whatley gave Joe a uranage, pulled him up at two, Whatley went to the Kawada kicks. Joe grabbed Whatley's leg to block. Not to be denied, Whatley with a second uranage to end it.
Tremendous for dramatic presentation. Awesome finish. Joe Black is a consummate professional wrestler. Whatley is s stone cold killer with a frightening realism to his offense. Whatley won but could not not beat Joe clean. I liked that they did the no holds barred aspect early and let it be more pro wrestling as the match progressed. Black knocking his shoulder back into place the way he did was something I'd never seen. Somebody please sign Santiago.
Whatley said Black had been destroyed and replaced as Amy Haven's Final Boss. .He was the rightful number one contender for the ProSouth Championship and he wanted his title match RIGHT NOW.
Fade to black.
