"Southern Summer Showcase" July 16, 2016 Pavo, Ga
The Southern Summer Showcase opened with the voice of NWA Southeastern, Will Hall, introducing NWA Southeastern General Manager Blaze, who welcomed a packed house to the The Peacock Center in Pavo, GA. Blaze was interrupted by NWA Florida Heavyweight Champion Mason Price and his manager, JP Nasty. After months of shadow games and cowardly attacks, JP Nasty finally arrived in person to face his long time nemesis, Blaze. Sick of the games and of a last second power play naming Missy Hyatt as the official NWA Representative for the Showcase, Blaze had finally had enough of JP Nasty and Mason Price's antics. To put an end to the games once and for all, Blaze agreed to put his position of NWA Southeastern General Manager up as a stipulation of the Main Event, much to the delight of JP Nasty and Mason Price. With all of the formalities out of the way, the NWA Southern Summer Showcase was set to begin.
The first match of the Showcase opened with NWA Georgia Extreme Jr. Heavyweight Champion Cassius Clay defending his Title against "The Irish Hammer" Marcus O'Riley. After a hard fought battle, Cassius Clay was able to retain his championship.
The second bout found NWA Southeastern Cruiserweight Champion "Da #1 Stunna" Dark Rage facing off against Ox Haney. After some questions about his weight and how he was awarded a contract for a Cruiserwieght Title Match, Haney began issuing a series of insults directed at the current NWA Southeastern Wrestling Cruiserweight Champion. Moments later, "Da #1 Stunna" made his way ringside to show Haney what he thought of the Challenger's insulting remarks. What followed seemed like a David vs Goliath battle, but, Da #1 Stunna was able to pull it off and is still the NWA Southeastern Cruiserwieght Champion!
In what was labeled as the most energetic match we have seen in the area in a very long time....the third contest placed "Mr. New York" Johnny Franco against the NWA Combat Sports Gulf Coast Jr. Heavyweight Champion, Lucha Locura. When the dust finaly settled, Lucha Locura was able hold his hand up high in victory! This will certainly not be the last we hear from "Mr. New York" after an exhausting and hard fought attempt at the Combat Sports Gulf Coast Jr. Heavyweight Title.
The fourth bout found Christopher Santos squaring off against the NWA Syndicated Jr. Heavyweight Champion "Hate" Stunt Marshall. In a contest of technical skill and patience...Stunt Marshall was able to get pin over Santos.
The Fifth contest featured the NWA Florida Tag Team Champions "The Punkadelics" face off against the NWA Southeastern Tag Team Champions "The Society" with the NWA Southeastern Tag Team Titles on the line. What was a high impact match to the very end....The Punkadelics seemed to have secured the victory to unify the NWA Florida and Southeastern Tag Team Titles. But, unfortunately for the young brothers from NWA Florida, that did not seem to be the case. Head Referee Kyle Weaver noticed that one of the Society members had his foot on the bottom rope during the attempted pinfall. He immediately restarted the match and The Society, in an underhanded and shady manner, pulled off a victory to retain the NWA Southeastern Tag Team Titles.
The following match showcased NWA Atlanta star Tyson Dean as he took on the NWA North American Heavyweight Champion "Grim Reaper" Tim Storm. The match that took place from the opening bell can only be described as a professional wrestling clinic. A match reminiscent of the Classic Era of Professional Wrestling, ended when Tyson Dean was able to pull off his "Dreamstreet Neckbreaker" after escaping a Fisherman's Suplex and hitting Tim Storm with a Big Boot. With this explosive reversal, he was able to obtain the pinfall over Tim Storm and become the new NWA North American Heavyweight Champion!!
Afterwards, Tyson Dean showed why NWA has the most professional Superstars and Champions in the business. He spoke highly of Tim Storm and his accomplishments. I can honestly say that this was a match between two incredibly athletic and professional "Gentlemen."
The final match of the evening featured the long awaited and highly anticipated contest of the NWA Florida Heavyweight Champion "The Sharp Shooter" Mason Price (accompanied by J. P. Nasty and Missy Hyatt) facing off against his once best friend, NWA Southeastern Heavyweight Champion Tony Storm. This match was a Title vs Title bout to unify the NWA Florida and Southeastern Heavyweight Titles.
With a roller coaster of emotions....in and out of the ring...even pouring into the halls at one point...it seemed that Tony Storm was able to successfully pull off a victory for himself and his family by pinning Mason Price. With NWA Southeastern General Manager Blaze having to administer the count after Senior Referee Kyle Weaver was knocked out outside of the ring, the building was filled with Storm's music and with the cheers of the loyal "Storm Chaser's"!! But, Missy Hyatt emerged from backstage and pulled her rank as the Official NWA Representative for the "Southern Summer Showcase" by reversing the decision, restarting the match, and ordering Blaze to leave the ringside area. Using the confusion to his advantage, Mason Price was able to pin a stunned Tony Storm....with none other than "The Manager of Champions" JP Nasty reaching into the ring to deliver a super fast three count. While Missy Hyatt only moment earlier nullified General Manager Blaze's three count, she immediately certified the fast count from JP Nasty, thereby unifying the NWA Florida and NWA Southeastern Heavyweight titles around "The Sharp Shooter's" Mason Price's waist. The obviously upset and furious crowd showed their displeasure, while Hyatt, JP Nasty and Mason Price celebrated their victory in the center of the ring. To add insult to injury, as Blaze returned to assist an injured Tony Storm away from the ring, JP Nasty took the opportunity to flex his newfound authority by suspending Blaze indefinitely to close out a heart wrenching and emotional Main Event.
