Disaster in Dudleyville - Update

From Larry Goodman:

Legendsfest in Dudley GA today was a financial bloodbath for promoter Greg Greene and a nightmare for the talent  The fanfest and wrestling event both took place as scheduled but not without a visit from the local law enforcement.

Multiple reports from the show state Greene didn't have the money to pay the legends or the wrestlers. Greene claimed that 120 VIP tickets ($12,000 worth) were sold through Eventbrite but the money never showed up in his account.

Del Wilkes and Arn Anderson made sure they got paid in cash. Others got checks. A law enforcement officer on the secen told the wrestlers that a warrant would be issued for Greene's arrest if the checks bounced. Seeing the handwriting on the wall, some like Nikita Koloff and Ted Dibiase likely left without receiving a dime. Ricky Steamboat got a heads up call before while he was still en route and turned around.

Reported attendance for the wrestling show was 130. The wrestlers that stayed to work the show split the gate.

Ben Masters posted as follows:

Ok it's soap box time. I have been in the pro wrestling business for 30 years and I have paid many "dues" along the way. I made a reputation in this business as a fair pay off man and a man of integrity. I have worked for a few crooked promoters but honestly not many. I have been blessed to work with amazing money guys who respected me and the best business. Today I drove 90 miles to help a guy who I thought was straight forward and a man of his word. I trusted someone who honestly isn't "in" our business. So I'm here in Dudley Georgia with some of the biggest name sin our business who are not getting paid. The money guy says there IS NO MONEY. After stating he had sold $10,000 worth of tickets. This promoter has broken the trust of guys who have been in our business for years, many who paved the way for the younger guys today. The Sheriff is now involved and hopefully there will be some sort of resolution. In the meanwhile, props to the guys who stayed and worked for the fans who paid to see a show. None if this was their fault. Most of the legends who left were seen at the Meet and Greet this afternoon so the fans were happy with that. Sadly as a whole no one was paid. So the show must go on and whatever money is left will be split along the guys who stayed and wrestled. To GREG GREENE I feel sorry for you. You mistakenly thought that getting wrestlers' phone numbers and booking big names on a show made you a promoter. You forgot one important thing....pro wrestling is a BUSINESS!! Please do yourself and everyone else a favor and stay away from our great business. You give us all a bad name.

  1. If the checks clear on Monday, will you retract and clear his name?

    1. Fuck a retraction. He doesn't deserve to have his name cleared. This promoter should have paid them the day of the show as he was supposed to.

  2. Talent came to the event with the understanding they would receive payment in cash at the show. If the checks clear, I will report that. However, if even the event that the checks clear, the fact remains that talent did not receive payment as agreed upon.

  3. The checks were stolen from his mother. They are fraudulent.

"Mark Danger" (and I GUARANTEE you ARE a mark and only a danger to yourself) I'm betting you ARE Greg Greene trying to defend yourself. It's NOT happening jagoff, you deserve to be dragged through the sewer as well!
