From Rob Brodhecker:
Peachstate Wrestling Alliance presents Thursday Night Throwdown, Sept 20, 2018, at the VFW Fairgrounds, Carrollton GA.
This Thursday night show is a departure from the usual Saturday showings for PWA due to the Fairgrounds being rented out over the weekends in September and October. PWA will return to their usual first and third Saturday schedule in November. 6 matches are scheduled for tonight with Tyson Dean and Cyrus the Destroyer as the main event. Also, scheduled to appear are CB Suave, Ace Haven, Katie Ohno, Austynn Madison, "Marvelous" Michael Stevens, AC Mack, Josh Storm, Matt Gilbert, Sal Rinauro, Fry Daddy, Amy Haven, and Sean Nelson.
Paid attendance was at about 50 plus about 15 kids. Not what the owners were hoping for but will see what the next two Thursday shows will bring.
Jason Boyd is your ring announcer.
Sean Nelson v Fry Daddy. The referee is Justin.
Nelson has bulked up since the last time I've seen him in action. Fry is looking fly as usual. Chain wrestling to start with both men as good guys here. Fry getting the advantage with some thunderous chops. Nelson on the attack. The fans that are here are enjoying the back and forth. Inadvertent 3 count by the ref, the match continues. Nelson on the attack until Fry hits the cutline for the 3 count. Time 8:23. Fry and Sean shake hands. Good match to start with considering the circumstances.
"The Barefoot Badass" Matt Gilbert v "The Natural Disaster" Josh Storm. Referee Darryl Hall.
Side note: my bookie set the time for the match at 4:30, will see if that holds up. Gilbert is mouthing off to the crowd and Josh, slaps Josh in the face. Josh returns the favor. Josh on the attack. Gilbert bails. Josh tries for a dive and Gilbert punches him in the mouth. Gilbert lures Josh in and trips him into the lower turnbuckle. Action to the outside and the count is on. They beat the 10 count but Gilbert catches Josh as he comes into the ring by kicking the bottom rope. Josh trying to punch his way back in but Gilbert chops him down. Brainbuster for a two. Gilbert with a slow pace, he must have bet the over on the time. Heel tactics by Gilbert. Comeback by Josh with tilt-a-whirl DDT. A Frogsplash by Gilbert misses, Josh going up. Tries for a backslide but Gilbert grabs the ropes and uses them to pin Josh. Time 12:11. If you bet the over on time, you won. Gilbert is getting some pretty good heat from the crowd.
"Marvelous" Michael Stevens v AC Mack (with Amy Haven). Ref is Darryl.
Michaels comes out to "You can touch this" by MC Hammer. Old School jamming there. AC makes Amy get on her hands and knees and uses her as a step stool. He then makes her hold the No Limits Championship above her head while he delivers his intro. He gets to where he announces his weight and Stevens just nails him with a superkick. Stevens goes for a quick pin but due to the ref call calling for the bell, Mack kicks out. Mack stalls for time on the outside. Finally gets in and Stevens is on the attack. The crowd is calling for Stevens to break Mack's arm with Amy leading the chants. Stevens looks like he's lost some weight over the summer. Mack on the attack and the action goes outside the ring. Back in the ring, Mack is on the attack. Comeback by Stevens. Back and forth maneuvers. Mack grabs the title and wants to hit Stevens with it. Amy alerts the ref to what Mack is doing and the ref grabs the title and while handing the title back, Michaels rolls Mack up for the 3 count. Time was 10 minutes.
Mack grabs the mic and reminds everyone that this was a non-title match. Stevens calls for a tag team match with him and Sal Rinauro v AC Mack and Romeo and dares Mack to put the No Limits title on the line. Mack counters with if his title is on the line, Sal's Heritage Title should be as well and if the Alliance wins, Romeo will be Heritage champ. Michaels accepts for the October 4th show.
Mack then introduced CB Suave for the next match.
CB Suave v Ace Haven. Ref Justin
Mack and Amy remain at ringside. CB has his ribs wrapped up. Ace is celebrating 10 years wrestling. Back and forth to start with, CB is using heel tactics to try and gain the advantage. CB is still doing his hip swivel even with the bandaged ribs. Advantage Ace so far. Mack uses Amy to distract Ace to give CB some breathing room. Ace goes after Mack out at ringside and knocks him into the chairs, CB comes in from behind and knocks down Ace. Ace school boys CB for a 2 count. CB tosses Ace out of the ring, Mack orders Amy to hit Ace. Amy refuses and Mack grabs Amy's hand and uses it to strike Ace. Ace barely kicks out. Another near fall on Ace. CB goes to the middle rope but misses an elbow. Both men down. Ace on the comeback. Springboard leg swipe for a near fall. Ace goes up and hits the elbow for another near fall. Mack grabs Ace's leg and trips him up. CB tries for several covers and only gets 2's. Mack up on the ring, CB almost hits him but Ace doesn't miss. CB hits his finisher off the distraction and plants him for the 3 count. Time 12:35.
CB and Mack gloat at ringside while yelling at Amy. CB and Amy leave while Mack has the mic again. Says he's sick and tired of Ace sticking his nose into Mack's business. Says that Ace will be in a singles match On Oct 4th but not with Mack. Sean Christopher hits the ring and Pearl Harbors Ace with the Pro South Title. He stands above a prone Ace and preens.
Kaite Ohno v Austynn Madison. Ref Justin.
Katie is stalling while the ref is checking her gear. Austynn on the attack. Katie grabs the hair for a short-term advantage. Katie choking and stomping on Madison. Madison on the comeback. Nice spine buster by Katie. Gilbert slips in and grabs Madison's leg and holds it while Katie gets the pin. Time 6:42.
Gilbert and Katie team up on Madison until Josh Storm hits the ring and chases them off. Josh challenges Gilbert and Ohno to a mixed tag match for Oct 4th.
Cyrus the Destroyer v Tyson Dean. Ref Darryl
The action starts as Tyson comes out of the dressing rooms as Cyrus attacks. They are fighting among the merch tables when Cyrus grabs a chair. A couple of trainees from the Good Bros. Dojo (Josh Wolverton gets punched while he was holding the chair) try to grab the chair and Cyrus punishes them. The action is finally in the ring and the bell rings when AC Mack and CB Suave hit the ring and start laying into Tyson. Match called off. Winner by DQ is Tyson. From Bell to bell time was: 37 seconds, the action before the bell lasted several minutes. Fry Daddy hits the ring but is also beaten down. AC announces Cyrus as the newest member of the Alliance. Josh Storm and Ace Haven come out to help attend Tyson and Fry.
All the matches were of good or better quality and this show was used to start or advance storylines and also introduce some new faces to the PWA fan base. Best match of the night belonged to AC/Stevens. In a previous report, I had wondered if the Alliance would get a fourth member and with the addition of Cyrus, they now have the monster that strikes that fear into their opponents and crowds. The question now becomes who can Tyson and Fry can get and bring in to counter Cyrus.
