Southern Violence and Wrestling presented their Summer spectacular, Wrestlepalooza at Southern Brewing Company in Athens Ga. Paid attendance was 276 on the spacious lawn of the brewery.
Pre show featured round one of the Black Diamond Invitational presented by Scene Nick prior to the Fite TV taping. Shane Mako bested Frankie Swamptower to advance in a fast paced high flying contest that set the tone for the evening.
The main show opened with Tag Team Champions the Frat Party (Bryce Cannon and Eddie Honco) in the ring with Andrew Noles aka Pledge #2. Bryce Cannon said that his pledge was supposed to face Ravana Xin in an intergender match, but due to an injury, Xin wasn’t there. Canon demanded a referee come down and award Pledge #2 the win by forfeit since thee wasn’t a woman in SVW with the balls to step up take her place. Out of nowhere, “The Devil Himself” Justin Legend and Mosh made their way to the ring. Legend chased Cannon and Honcho from ringside, leaving Pledge number 2 all alone. Looks like we have a match.
Match 1- “Pledge #2” Andrew Noles vs Mosh
Mosh blasted the pledge with a kendo stick, then she speared the poor guy out of his Sperrys. Ref Slim counted the three.
Winner: Mosh
After the match, Legend grabbed the mic and called out SVW champion Axel Rod. Legend said he didn’t agree to put his career on the line in his hometown without making damn sure this feud ends tonight once and for all. Legend demanded that the career vs career SVW title match later in the show be made a no holds barred, anything goes match. This brought the champion out to the entrance. Axel agreed to the stipulation, but added his own. Mosh would now be banned from ringside. Legend was irate.
Match 2- Ladder Match for the SVW Hardcore title- Ryan Murdoch vs Choptop vs Jerry Nelms
The ladder, was the weapon of choice in this one. The match saw Choptop and Murdoch form an early alliance brutalizing Nelms with the ladder. Nelms eventually rallied and it looked like he was about to grab the hardcore title. Instead he opted for a nasty senton from atop the ladder on Choptop. Eventually Murdoch was incapacitated, and Choptop took back over on Nelms. Choptop managed to climb the ladder and as he began to unhook the title, Murdoch popped up and blasted him with a chair for the doublecross. The title fell to the ring and Murdoch picked it up and was declared the winner. Fans were outraged. They really can’t stand Murdoch.
Winner and still SVW Hardcore Champion: Ryan Murdoch
Match 3- 8 man tag team match The Frat Party with Ken Beckner and Pledge #1 vs Jamie Holmes, “Serpent Assassin” Brandon Whatley, “Black Sheep” Cody McCulley and a mystery partner
The issues between The Frat Party and Holmes are well documented. Whatley is fast becoming a favorite of the SVW faithful. Holmes was decked out in the red and yellow and seemed to be channeling a certain well known real American. The mystery partner did not appear and soon the numbers game caught up with Holmes, Whatley and McCulley. The action soon broke down and Whatley and McCulley brawled to the back with Cannon and Honcho. Beckner followed. This left Holmes alone in the ring with Pledge #1, Anthony Lee. Holmes was desperate for a tag but no one was there. Then, music hit, and Holmes’ son, Billy made his way to the ring dressed as surfer era Sting, revealed as the mystery partner. Billy hopped onto the apron and got the hot tag from his dad. It was a k2d (kicks to dicks) on the pledge from Billy, and that was all she wrote. Post match saw Holmes pose in the ring to the delight of the fans. Winners: Holmes, McCulley, Whatley and Billy Holmes. Next, we saw SVW Owner Dave Hadden come to the ring. He said that last month, in the steel cage, he was assaulted by his former client Charlie Anarchy, when Anarchy lost the SVW title to Axel Rod. He chastised the fans for cheering as he was knocked unconscious. He said he had tried to make SVW great but the fans had been ungrateful. Hadden said whatever happens now is out of his control.
Match 4- SVW Heavyweight Championship: Career vs Career match- Justin Legend vs Axel Rod ( c )
This feud started almost a year ago and tonight someone will leave wrestling forever. Legend attacked off the bat blindsiding the champion. Legend sent Axel chest first into the corner, and then slid to the floor. Legend repeatedly rammed Axel’s knee into the steel ring post, then applied a hanging figure four around the post. Axel’s leg seemed to be damaged immediately. Legend re entered the ring, kendo stick in hand. Axel cut him off and took possession of the weapon, blasting Legend across the back. The champion and challenger then exchanged vicious chops and Legend landed a vicious headbutt that dropped the champion and sent Legend tumbling from the ring. Axel climbed out onto the apron and Legend swept his leg out from under him. More stiff chops. The fight moved towards the entryway and Axel suplexed Legend hard onto the wood. The champion made his way back toward the ring. Legend called for him to stop. The two set up chairs amongst the crowd. And sat down and traded shots. Legend was almost knocked out from a vicious shot to the ear. Legend regrouped and stod up and booted Axel flush in the face, sending the champion falling backwards out of the chair. Legend then threw Axel in the ring along with a steel chair. Legend slapped a knee bar on Axel who seemed about ready to tap. Frustrated, Legend released the hold, and planted Axel with a ddt on the chair. Axel was busted open immediately and bleeding profusely. Legend then produced a second chair. This one was wrapped in barbed wire. Legend raised the chair to bash the champion’s skull, but Axel threw a low blow in the nick of time. Axel took control of the barbed wire chair and laid it on top of Legend’s chest and midsection. Axel climbed the top rope and dropped a picture perfect elbow on top of the barbed wire chair, driving it into Legend’s flesh, as well as his own. Axel went for the cover but Legend somehow kicked out. Both men stood up, Legend bleeding from the chest and legs. Legend screamed at Axel to finish this. Legend threw a lariat, missed, allowing Axel to slap on the Lion Killer Choke...Legends own finisher. Legend fought….then tapped. Justin Legend’s career is over.
Winner and still SVW Champion: Axel Rod
Post Match: Axel signaled for a cold six pack of Southern Brewing Beer. Mosh joined the two in the ring. The three toasted, and Legend and Mosh said goodbye to SVW.
Match 5- ‘Suicide King” Brad Cash vs Geter
This match definitely had a big fight feel, as this was the first time these two had faced off in a one on one match. The match certainly lived up to the hype. Neither man was able to gain an advantage for long, and the action spilled out of the ring and all over the brewery. Geter’s trademark chops could probably be heard at Sanford Stadium. Cash kept coming like a man possessed. The ring itself could not withstand these two and the top rope was completely torn from the ring post. Frustrated, Brad Cash produced a fork and began stabbing Geter right in the head. Ref Slim stepped in and was thrown aside, causing the match to be thrown out. Security had a terrible time separating these two.
Winner: No Contest
Match 6- No Rope “Kumite” Fight Knockout or Submission Only- Bobby D vs Baby Dragon Erron Wade
The main event was a special attraction pitting two legit martial artists in a match that could only be won by knockout or submission. No rope breaks, no stoppages. The fan favorite Bobby D has returned to his roots and issued this challenge. The two men started off exchanging kicks and strikes, and then put on a grappling clinic full of reversals, counters, and submissions. The crowd was behind both men and seemed to be aware of the display of combat skills on display from both competitors. This is the kind of thing you will only see in Georgia at SVW. Eventually fatigue set in and Bobby scored the knockout for the win.
Winner: Bobby D
Post match, several mystery men in masks made their way from the crowd. For months there have been cryptic videos surfacing on SVW social media from some unknown group calling themselves FAME, promising an invasion. The masked men surrounded the ring. Suddenly, SVW owner Dave Hadden appeared on the entry stage and simply said “It’s time”. The masked men hit the ring and destroyed Bobby and Erron Wade. The men unmasked, and it was fan favorites Jamie Holmes and Brandon Whatley. The beatdown commenced again, but was interrupted by the arrival of Ryan Murdoch wielding a chair. Murdoch helped Bobby up, and then without warning, nailed him with the chair. The beatdown continued, even including Holmes grabbing one of his own trainees from the crowd and brutalizing him before handing the poor kid over to Murdoch for a powerbomb. Beer was flying and fans were approaching the ring creating a very tense situation. Hadden got back on the mic and said that SVW was dead. Welcome to the era of Fame.
