The belief of purgatory dates back many centuries and has a wide range of meanings and beliefs. Some believe it is a postmortem suffering short of everlasting damnation. Others believe it describes a place or condition of temporary suffering or torment.
210 souls gathered together in The Landmark Arena to witness Purgatory, the last stop on the Highway to Hardcore Hell.
The night began with the appearance of Matthew Hankins and Brian Blaze. Hankins had a lot to crow about as had recently secured the services of Logan Creed and perhaps just as important, Shane Marx was still the reigning Anarchy Heavyweight Champion. Hankins then dropped a bombshell. It appears that the #1 contender to the Anarchy Heavyweight Championship, Billy Buck, had suffered an injury to his knee and would not only be out of the main event of this night’s card, he was also out of any championship match consideration at Hardcore Hell. Hankins was praising the success of The Undeniable and claiming that if it wasn’t for them there would be no Anarchy, when Adrian Hawkins appeared on the big screen. He made a challenge to The Undeniable at Hardcore Hell.
Will Kaution def. Brian Blaze
Matthew Hankins attempted to keep some semblance of calm,
but the previous challenge had to be playing in his mind. Both Kaution and
Blaze were a part of Ultimate Anarchy 2. Blaze attacked Kaution before the bell
and was in control of the former 2-time Landmark Arena Heritage Champion.
Kaution kept fighting back, but he would find that Blaze’s power advantage was
too much to overcome at times. However, in the end, Kaution would find himself
victorious.
Hold My Beer Hanson def. Jay Too Strong
After a very impressive debut against Logan Creed, despite
the loss, Hanson returned to the Landmark Arena set to show them why he is one
of the most talked about competitors throughout Georgia. Jay Too Strong was
making his Anarchy Wrestling debut. Hanson held the advantage throughout much
of this match, with Strong showing some flashes of brilliance. Those would not
be enough as Hanson picked up the victory.
Alex Kane def. David Ali
Alex Kane is an impressive athlete, and Ali found this out firsthand. The Suplex Assassin went right to work on the cocky Ali. Ali, who is no slouch himself, found ways to counterattack Kane and held his one for the better part of this contest. Both men connected on some vicious strikes throughout the match. Alex Kane would shock David Ali by picking up the victory in his debut.
Todd Sexton entered the ring and congratulated Kane on not just
his victory but also on how he looked in the ring with his technical skills.
Todd mentioned the Hall of Fame as part of Hardcore Hell December 26th.
Todd mentioned that even though he was going into the Hall of Fame, he would
like to have a match at Hardcore Hell and challenged Kane. Kane accepted the
match and the two shook hands that led to an intense head to head stare down.
Tyler Cullprett def. Spi-Ral
Since debuting in Anarchy Spi-Ral has yet to be defeated in one-on-one competition. He was within a second of winning the Television Championship at Ultimate Anarchy 2, and would be the first to challenge champion, Tyler Cullprett. The two went back and forth, with Spi-Ral blending his MMA background with an amazing array of aerial skills to rock Cullprett. The TV Champion would find a way to counter the onslaught and hit the springboard curbstomp to hand the challenger his first defeat.
Next up, Michael Gentry introduced the Executive Vice President of Wrestling Operations, Bull Buchanan to the ring. They showed footage from the last Anarchy event where John Johnson was attempting to interview Bull but was interrupted by Ben Buchanan. Gentry asked Bull what plans he had for his son’s request for more competition. Before Bull could answer, Ben again interrupted. They were soon joined by Matthew Hankins. Hankins noted that The Undeniable had yet to receive their title rematch, and Bull agreed. Bull then made a tag team championship match for Hardcore Hell where Ben Buchanan and Griff Garrison will defend against The Undeniable. There would be one catch, at Hardcore Hell The Undeniable will consist of Hankins and a partner of Bull Buchanan’s choosing.
Scott Mayson def. “Gabriel”
The new Landmark Arena Heritage champion brought “Harriett” out to the ring in a stroller. He then introduced the returning “Landmark Arena legend”. The familiar music of the Lost Boys played and what everyone believed to be, Gabriel aka Chad Parham emerged from the current. It was quickly evident that this was not the former Wildside Tag Team Champion, former Anarchy Heavyweight and Television Champion, Gabriel. Mayson had someone dressed up and quickly disposed of the imposter. Aftwerwards, Mayson proclaimed himself as the only Landmark Arena legend.
The lights went out again, and this time the music of the Devil’s Rejects played and through the smoke emerged, Azrael, a true Landmark Arena legend and Hall of Famer. Azrael looked towards Mayson and then pointed to the screen to show the Hardcore Hell 22 logo. Mayson looked as if he seen a ghost as Azrael disappeared back into the fog.
Nick Halen def. Kevin Ryan
For the first time in 15 years, Nick Halen entered an Anarchy ring. He was in there with a guy who 15 years ago was in elementary school. Kevin Ryan has been very impressive throughout the southeast and especially in Anarchy. This was going to be a tough test for the veteran. Halen showed no signs of ring rust as he stood toe to toe with Ryan. In the end, Halen hit a rolling neckbreaker to defeat Ryan. Afterwards, Cullprett hit the ring and attacked Halen. Cullprett told Halen he better be ready for Hardcore Hell, because he accepts Halen’s challenge.
Logan Creed/Shane Marx def. Ben Buchanan/Griff Garrison
This was originally scheduled to be a six-man elimination match, but due to the injury to Billy Buck it was made a two-on-two tag team match. The Anarchy Tag Team Titles were not on the line in this match. The champions seemed a little off in this match-up as Ben Buchanan blind tagged himself into the match to the surprise of Griff Garrison. Creed and Marx would take advantage of the miscommunications through out the match. Just when it seemed as if they were on the same page, Griff Garrison tagged himself in as Ben was setting up a lariat. This led to another disagreement with the champions. Hankins was yelling at Buchanan from ringside as Creed pushed Garrison into Buchanan leading to a Scorched Earth and a victory for Creed and Marx. Hankins was talking to Buchanan, while in the ring some dissension among The Undeniable was taking place as well. Creed got on the microphone and told Hankins that he didn’t come back to be a part of a tag team or a group, he wanted the Anarchy Championship. Hankins called for Brian Blaze, but Creed told him not to think about coming in the ring. Creed then challenged Marx for the Anarchy Championship at Hardcore Hell.
Hardcore Hell is set for December 26th at the Landmark Arena and live on FITE TV PPV. There will be four big title matches as Landmark Arena Heritage Champion Scott Mayson defends against Azrael. The Anarchy Television Champion Tyler Cullprett defends against Nick Halen. The Anarchy Tag Team Champions Ben Buchanan and Griff Garrison defend against Matt Hankins and a mystery partner, and The Anarchy Heavyweight Championship is on the line, as Shane Marx defends against Logan Creed. You will also see Alex Kane vs. Todd Sexton and so much more. The Landmark Arena Hall of Fame is also scheduled for that evening. For more information visit the Anarchy Wrestling Facebook page.
