World Wrestling Council is gaining full steam as they head toward their 46thAnniversary Show this summer, and in the coming weeks, they will announce the dates and the sites where the legendary three-night event will be held.
Carlos Toro has the top ten moments from WWC’s Anniversary Shows, and back by popular demand, in Spanish announced by Eliud Gonzales and “Su Majestad” El Profe from 1997. Some moments include:
-From their Ninth Anniversary Show in 1982: Two WWE Hall of Famers squared off for the then-newly created WWC Universal Championship. The first competitor was Carlos Colon, who was the WWC World Champion. He faced against the man who defended the NWA World Championship and who later became the 16-time World Champion in WCW and WWE, “The Nature Boy” Ric Flair. (Note: in that time WWC was a member of the NWA in Puerto Rico for fifteen years until 1988.)
-From their 23rd Anniversary Show in Caguas: In front of a sold-out crowd of 5,000 fans, Colon beat “El Macho de Siete Suelas” El Bronco #1 in a Retirement vs. Deportation match. After the match, Bronco left to return the Dominican Republic, only to appear sporadically throughout most of the late 90’s and up to 2015. This made Bronco a part of WWC’s 46 Years of Legacy and Heritage.
--Note: On the same night, just hours later, the now defunct WCW held Bash at The Beach 1996 on PPV, where Hulk Hogan made headlines by forming the New World Order (NWO) with two (now) WWE Hall of Famers: Scott Hall and “Big Sexy” Kevin Nash. This caused the biggest effect on the memorable Monday Night Wars between the old WCW Monday Nitro on TNT and WWE Raw on USA until 2001.
-Included in the anniversary highlights were WWE Hall of Famers who are still around: Abdullah The Butcher, The Bushwahckers (The Sheepherders throughout the old NWA days.), Jacqueline (Former WWE Women’s Champion during the WWE’s Attitude and Ruthless Aggression Eras), ”The Birdman” Koko B. Ware, and Kamala. Also included are WWE Hall of Famers, NWA Wrestling legends and Puerto Rican wrestling legends who have passed away over the years: Andre The Giant, The Junkyard Dog, Chief Wahoo McDaniels, Paul Jones, Tommy Rogers of “The Fantastics,” Buddy Jack Roberts of “The Fabulous Freebirds”, “Hot Stuff” Eddie Gilbert, Jose Miguel Perez, Sr. (To whom WWC’s 42nd Anniversary Show in 2015 was dedicated). Also included is wrestler and movie star, “The Canadian Giant” Garry Robbins, who later ran for mayor in his hometown of St.Catherines in Ontario, Canada.
This functions more as a part one of WWC Anniversary Show's Best Moments. Leading into this year’s WWC Anniversary Show, the next editions will be dedicated to more best moments. These could range from promos and matches from the 24th Anniversary Show in 1997 all the way to last year’s WWC 45th Anniversary Show (the very first since Hurricane Maria left a wake of disaster on September 20, 2017). Visit WWC on Facebook for more on which Superstars will appear from WWE’s brands (Raw, SmackDown! Live, NXT or NXT:UK), Impact Wrestling, Ring of Honor, Lucha Underground, Mexico (AAA,The Crash, or CMLL), and Japan (from either New Japan Pro Wrestling, Pro Wrestling NOAH, Zero On, or The Great Muta’s Wrestle-One promotion). Also be on the lookout for announcements of former and recently released WWE Superstars who are wrestling throughout the Indy Circuit, as well as independent wrestlers from the Southeastern, U.S. The dates and sites of this year’s WWC Anniversary Show are still to be announced.

Here is JWP ’s 30th Anniversary Show from 2017, months before both Hurricanes Irma and Maria struck the island.
Puerto Rico’s Champions Wrestling Association announced at last Sunday’s Desafio event (held at the Cancha Bajo Techo de Barrio Maguayo in Dorado) that their Eleventh Anniversary Show will be on Saturday July 20th. The site of the event will be announced in the coming weeks. As part of CWA’s Eleventh Anniversary Show, fans will see the return of CWA Women’s World Champion and last year’s WWE Mae Young Classic competitor: “Puerto Rican Power” Zeuxis. Finally, see below for the full video of the event from Wednesday May 29th.
