One week removed from the BattleRumble, ProSouth Wrestling
presented show #517, streaming live on Youtube from Piedmont, AL.
Starpower was going to be an issue. Austin Towers and Joe Black were at ProSouth, not sure where Huckaby was at. Weirdly enough, Sinn Bodhi is on the card.
This was a longer than usual show with more wrestling, which
was not necessarily a good thing.
The audio was crystal clear this week. Too bad the commentary by Shane Noles and Wicked Nemesis were low in the mix because they had some entertaining things to say.
(1) Trever Aeon defeated Brandon Whatley in 10:27. Fun seeing Nashville’s Jesse Fields as the referee. Aeon has got to stick the landing when he jumps off his victim after a double stomp. Aeon planted Whatley on the ring frame with a back suplex, then pinned him with a front facelock DDT thingy that looked great. By all rights, Aeon should have gone over clean in this match, but I was surprised that he actually did....until the end of show explained why.
(2) Scott Patterson defeated Roma Miller by DQ when Shane Mako hit Patterson with his 2020 Rookie of the Year Trophy (5:50). A wrestling match broke out. It wasn’t terrible so it lacked the expected perverse entertainment factor. Not to say it was all that interesting. I was thanking my lucky stars that Mako showed up with the trophy before they went any longer.
Mako and Miller trashed Patterson something awful. Posed with the trophy set on Patterson’s back.
You Tube Champion Robbie Vio came out and made an impromptu tag match out it. Vio was really good on the mic. He’s a far better talker than he is a wrestler.
(3) Scott Patterson & Robbie Vio defeated Roma Miller & Shane Mako when Patterson pinned Miller at 8:53. Wicked said he was partnering with Shane on a new non-profit organization—the Mako Wish Foundation. Wicked also compared Mako to Larry Sweeney. Blew my mind. Miller tried to bring a chair into the ring but was cut off by ring announcer James Hardy. Oddly interesting since Hardy appeared to have issues with Vio last week. The finish was a blockbuster/DDT combo that looked pretty decent.
(4) Dameon Ceretone defeated Alex Kane in 8:55. Early on, Ceretone showed he could hang with Kane’s wrestling. Wicked said if Kane was a football team he would be the Philadelphia Eagles. Notable moves: Ceretone catching Kane and hitting a belly to belly suplex. Kane’s uranage backbreaker called the Sunset Grill and his T-Bone suplex. For the finish, Ceretone rolled through Kane’s german and hit a rising knee strike to set up the Death Valley Driver. Good match. No loser here.
Ceretone said he wanted Logan Creed mano y mano next week. He also said Kane would be a hell of a talent if he stopped listening to Wicked.
(5) Orion Bishop (with Wicked Nemesis) defeated Eric Silva in 12:32. Bishop has gotten back in ring shape, so look out competition, he is a force to be reckoned with. Some serious high impact moves by both men in this one. The mystery dude who saved Silva last week appeared on the ramp and started jawing at him. Silva's attention was diverted and Bishop speared him out of his boots. If that’s where they were going, they didn’t need 12 minutes to get there.
Wicked Nemesis cut a wild-eyed promo - Bishop was coming for Towers.
(6) Cameron Keast defeated Ace Haven (with Amy Haven) to
retain the ProSouth All-Out Championship in 17:40. Ace took a scary face-first
bump into the rail and was momentarily out of it. Amy had help him back into
the ring. Lots of near falls in this match. Ace had the champion pinned with Pedigree, but Roma put Keast’s foot on the ropes. Vio, Mako and Patterson
all joined in the extracurricular activity at ringside. Amy slid one of the
titles in to Ace. Referee Matthew Gibson intervened. Commissioner Amy ordered the match to
be restarted. In the midst of the chaos, Keast pinned Ace with the headlock
driver. See match #5 – solid story, the wrestling was OK but too long
given where the story was going.
Amy ordered a rematch for next week with the interlopers as lumberjacks.
ProSouth Champion Tyler Cullprett interrupted the introduction of the main event with a most excellent promo. Culprett said he told Eric Silva the championship would be his but denied having anything to do with the Crowe brother’s interference the title match. He simply planted an idea. It was up to this man to see the error of Silva’s ideas and make the best decision of his life…out came Alister Crowe.
(7) Sinn Bodhi defeated Alister Crowe (with Tyler Cullprett) in 15:46. Bodhi was picking Crowe apart until Cullprett got involved, making copious use of his umbrella. Referee Ben Sheinberg got knocked down. Bodhi picked Sheinberg up and used him like a human ladder to knock down Crowe and Cullprett. Bodhi then opened Cullprett’s umbrella and stuck the point up his ass. Meanwhile, Silva jumped in the ring and gave Crowe a karate thrust to the throat. Bodhi hit Crowe with a variation of a double arm DDT and Silva slapped the ref’s hand on the mat to make the three count.
A ridiculous match due to the massive size difference. It dwould have been completely ludicrous if not for Cullprett’s interference. Bodhi's umbrella sodomy should never have happened with the champion.
Aeon challenged Bodhi to a match at Wicked Havoc on October 30 to see who the real monster was. Bodhi said they could get away with a lot more in Alabama than they could anywhere else so it was on for Devil’s Night.
