VPW presented the 2nd Garden City Classic from Warren Rd Community Center in Augusta GA with an attendance of 200. Commentators were Chris Mayne and Jonathan Feltner, ring announcer was Sabrina Kate.
The show opened with TFO, Hancock, Hood and Knight, as Owen demanded a rematch for the VPW title, Hancock also stated that he has been informed that he still owns partial stakes in Viral Pro. New VPW Owner, Lodi appeared and granted Knight his rematch against Jon Davis. Hancock used his side of power to make Lodi a match as well, and his match is right now! Out comes Wade Adams.
Lodi defeated Wade Adams. This match was a great opener, and had the fans cheering the entire time, with Lodi giving out signs and interacting with fans while Wade did his usual heel comedy antics. After the match, Lodi made his way to the back and was jumped by Knight and Hood of TFO and was attacked with a chair! Hancock entered and asked what the hell they're doing and demanded they stop and told them to get ready for their matches. Hancock then extended a hand to Lodi, and helped him up, as the two stared down in a cliffhanger moment.
Next in the first round of the GCC, Drew Hood (with Hancock) defeated Dave Stage. The crowd was behind Stage, but it was Hood who picked up the win in upset with the help of Hancock.
In the second match of the first round, Augusta native Cody Fluffman defeated TNA Star John Skyler in quick fashion! No one expected this as Fluffman rolled Skyler up in the corner to secure the victory! Post match, Skyler shook his head in frustration and exited.
The semifinals began as Drew Hood returned to the ring with Hancock to face former AEW Star Brock Anderson! Brock made his way to the ring and Hancock pointed ot that he was outnumbered 2-1. Brock shook his head and pointed to the entrance as his father, WWE Hall of Famer and 4 Horsemen member, “The Enforcer” Arn Anderson’s music hit, and the crowd went WILD!!!! Hancock and Hood were furious. This bout was very technical and entertaining, as the two showed impressive prowess. Hancock attempted to help Hood win as he placed his feet on the ropes and Hancock held them down, but Arn was having none of that! The Hall of Famer walked towards Hancock and decked him with a right hand as the crowd erupted! Hood in anger exited the ring, attempting to confront Arn. Arn did his signature spinebuster taunt, but Hood backed away, and reentered the ring only to be hit with a spinebuster by Brock for the win! This match was one of the best of the night and was well received by the fans, and a great show by all involved!
Next in the semifinals, Cody Fluffman faced Viral newcomer, Anarchy Champion, Nick Halen. The fans were behind Fluff the entire time, but it was Halen who picked up the win, angering the fans and pulling an upset in his debut for the company! Later on in the finals it will be Brock Anderson vs Nick Halen!
After intermission, the women's title was on the line as Reka Tehaka defended against Cassandra Golden, making her Viral debut. This match was a great filler breaking from the tournament, and giving a chance for the women to shine. It was Reka who emerged the winner retaining the title.
Next up, the finals of the Garden City Classic: Brock Anderson vs Nick Halen! The crowd absolutely hated Halen after taking out Augusta favorite Cody Fluffman. Anderson entered once again to a massive pop from the crowd, this time without his father by his side. This match was great as the crowd was on the edge of their seats the entire time, not knowing who would win, but in shocking fashion it was Nick Halen pulling the ultimate upset walking out the winner of the 2024 GCC by grabbing Brock's tights! The crowd was pissed with Halen booing him out of the building. The crowd then gave Brock a standing ovation as he exited.
Next up in the main event, former VPW Champion Owen Knight attempted to regain the gold in a rematch against Jon Davis. Knight gave it his all, but ultimately it was Davis securing the win. Owen lost because Drew Hood ran out and got thrown over the top rope immediately by Davis as Owen was on the outside. Owen reached down to help him and Drew out of blind instinct accidentally hit Owen with the belt. Owen staggered and turned around to be hit with a brainbuster by Davis in tribute to his favorite performer Arn Anderson, who was in attendance for the match.
Post match, Nick Halen made his way to the ring with the Garden City Cup, and stared down Davis as the two talked trash in the ring.
Halen will challenge Davis for the title on August 10th at Viral's anniversary show: Infection VIII! For more information, stay tuned to Viral on all social platforms: FB: Viral Pro Wrestling, X: @Viral_Pro IG: @Viral_pro Notables in attendance: Former Anarchy Wrestling owner, Franklin Dove.
