Sell out number seven in a row for CCW the Forty Watt Club. That's 300 paid and the legal limit. Suge D calls it the 40 Hot.
CCW did a six match show that ran three hours plus, yet did not feel long. That's the magic of pro wrestling at the 40 Watt Club. Crowd on fire as it is time and time again.
I'm a fan of booker Justin Burnham's storytelling and the way he intertwine stories in the CCW title scenario.
Owen Knight defeated Sean Legacy in a babyface match supreme to retain the CCW Championship Najasism got by Slim J and is the premier sleazebag barking at Knight's heels. Suge D earned a title shot for the return date of September 6.
Pure action from the bell to bell. Hard to imagine a better way to open this show.
Owen Knight addressed the CCW faithful. Said something was irking his nerves. That would be Najasism who dropped Rico Gonzalez on his head last time at 40 Watt and thought that made him next up but he was at the back of the line. His opponent tonight was Legacy, which would be just business, nothing personal. He planned on keeping the title for a long time.
Knight has been great as CCW's inaugural champion and he's still hot 462 days into his reign. He's in synch with the CCW fans and he's getting it done in the ring. I can't see CCW taking the title off him any time soon.
(2) Jazzy Yang defeated Nikki Heat via submission in 6:20. A babyface match with both women garnering strong entrance pops. Jazzy checked her teeth after taking a shot in the face from Heat. Yang's second attempt a spinwheel kick connected. They traded near falls before Jazzy cinched in a rear naked choke. Heat's arm went limp and Paul Santa called for the bell.
Best Jazzy Yang match I've seen. Her work was sharper across the board. Heat is still green and it was up to Yang to lead.
The appearance of No Good Bastards (Dominic Stuckey, Duncan Mitchell on stage drew major heat. Dom said he knew about women. Jazzy led a "fuck you Dom" chant. NGB entered the ring with a proposition from Dom. Chastain dropped Santa with a shot to the gut. Stuckey grabbed Heat and threatened to break her arm.
Left Hand Path (Austin Towers, Trever Aeon and Eric Silva) hit the ring. NGB beat a hasty retreat, taking Heat with them. Towers said "the Cabbage Patch Kids" were going to get dragged kicked and screaming down the Left Hand Path.
(3) Najasism (with DJ Smoke) defeated Slim J in 13:44. Naja did a little diddy with the Toppers girls, God bless them. Slim kept Naja off balance with his mockery and mind games in the early going, throwing in some signature offense to boot. Naja worked on Slim's head and neck, tied him in knots on the mat, then applied a liontamer. Slim wowed 'em with the 3-6 Mafia Kick to spark his comeback and popped the crowd again by ripping his tank top off. Slim hit Screwdriver on the Rocks for a near fall. At the crucial moment, Smoke interfered and Naja went on to pin Slim with Lights Out.
Slim J's use of facial expression was amazing. Naja's hoochie daddy act is hilarious to me. The heat derives from Naja poking fun at himself by being as obnoxiously over the top as humanly possible.
(4) Streetfight: No Good Bastards (Dominic Stuckey & Duncan Mitchell & Dezmond Chastain) defeated Left Hand Path (Austin Towers & Eric Silva & Trever Aeon) in 23:28. Kendo stick, cookie sheet, trash can, chairs and doors, all part of the fun in this see saw battle. Towers gave Stuckey a giant-sized windmill punch. Chastain speared his way through a door into Towers. The crowd was into seeing the trash can put over heads. Towers and Silva teamed up on a choke slam/Collateral Damage that almost worked too well. All six down and destroyed, the crowd chanted "this is awesome". They squared off center ring.
Stuckey was toast after Aeon's pumphandle drop through a door. A masked individual revealed as turncoat Nikki Heat ran in and threw a cookie sheet to break up the pin. Chastain and Mitchell double teamed Towers and dragged Stuckey on top of the giant for the three count.
The spotlight was on Towers and Stuckey. They were married for most of the match and all of their stuff was getting big reactions. The selfless veteran (Silva) hooked up with the guy who had the least experience (Chastain). Chastain was bound and determined to bust through that door. Nice swerve with Heat going heel. I think she will be good addition to NGB because she got a glimmer of the devil in her. Heat had to throw the cookie sheet at Aeon spoil the babyface win because she got their late and the crowd went with it.
Rather than doing the traditional unconventional CCW intermission with the Toppers girls dance in the ring, Cole Taylor introduced the debut of Kimberly Morgan York's video shot at the 40 Watt Club featuring the wrestlers of CCW. That was followed by a musical interlude from The Blips and then it was back to the action.
(5) Suge D defeated (in order of entrance) Zach Mosley and Cody Fluffman and Irving West (with Andey Ripley) and Dave Stage and Matt Sells and Sean Sims (with Cuatro Cabezas) in a Proving Ground Match (23:52). The outrageousness started with Fluff steamrolling five dudes chained together. That segued into a six way submission spot and chair reaction versions of Sells' Rat Trap. People started kicking each other in the knee. Ripley and Cuatro got into the act. Ripley kicked Cuatro in the knee. Referee Santa kicked Andey in the knee. Santa went down and there were like eight people on the mat clutching at their knees. Stage and West did the Funk spinning ladder spot with West serving as a human ladder.
Fluff pinned West. Sims pinned Stage. Mosley nailed Sims with a swanton and all the competitors piled on. Mosley ducked a palm strike from Sells and rolled him up using the tights. Fluff and Suge teamed up for a bionic elbow from another world. Mosley toasted Fluff with a curbstomp. Down to Mosley and Suge. and Suge got him with a diving headbutt.
The utmost in stupid comedy, a collaboration of warped minds and I loved every minute of it. After all the goofiness, The built to a finish that worked like a charm. The pop for Suge going over caught me by surprise. Mosley and Suge have crossed paths in three different promotions of late. Fluffman was the only common denominator between CCW and Forever Pro, funny how things work.
(6) Owen Knight defeated Sean Legacy to retain the CCW Championship in 14:00. Crowd wanted a handshake and they got one. Knight failed to convert on an early Clock Out attempt. Legacy's springboard double stomp flowed into a dropkick had the crowd chanting his name. Owen back in the game with a missile dropkick. They got into a strong style war of lariats. Out of the double down, Knight absolutely nailed Legacy with an RKO for a great near fall. Ditto Legacy's springboard cutter. Neither man was able to hit their finishing move. They went back and forth with pin attempts and Knight came out on top.
For a babyface title match, this delivered the goods. Had a little of everything, paced to perfection, They changed speeds and let the big moments breath.
Najasism came on stage to start trouble from the peanut gallery otherwise known as the Hoochieverse. Told Knight never ignore Daddy. Knight told Naja shut his bitch ass up. Suge asked Naja if his shorts came with a Maxi pad.
Suge said this was grown man business and turned his attention to the champion. Suge talked credentials- Japan, six tours of England -- Suge said he prayed Knight was still champion on September 6. He wanted to beat the best. Suge had his doubts. Knight was younger and the only champion CCW has known. Knight said his opponents get the beats and the lumps and end up looking at the lights.
Suge D is top tier in the promo department. He went from clever and colorful with Naja to dead serious with Owen, who is no slouch on the mic himself. They made the title feel important and sold me on seeing the match.
