Live from the boardwalk of New Realm Brewery, Deep South Wrestling delivered yet another stellar show! 300+ rabid fans yelled, screamed, cheered and booed their favorite DSW Superstars while braving the chilly and damp weather.
Opening Segment: Matchmaker Eric Adamz starts us off in the ring with mic in hand. He welcomes the crowd and thanks them for braving the elements to support his crew. Then it’s time for the news he did not want to have to deliver: the advertised Main Event is on hold. He tells the crowd that Zilla Fatu is in fact injured and not in Atlanta. Followed by the news of Skrilla The Great having car troubles and that he also is not in Atlanta. Before the stunned fans at ringside can react, a giant shadow is in his face: Austin Towers! Austin says he has never been booked in DSW and has wanted to for a good while. Also, he asks Eric how you can have the Main Event not here for the show, yet he is right here. Eric yields to the 7 foot behemoth and is about to reply when Stunt Marshall appears! Stunt tells Austin that he is here as well and also not booked, so if Towers want to tangle Stunt will happily answer the call! Adamz asks the crowd who goes crazy and the MATCH IS ON!
Match 1: “Hollywood” Hunter James & Dax Anthony VS DJ Smoke & Najasism (Tag-Team Tournament Quarterfinal)—This one on paper sets up to be a donnybrook and live in person is delivered like only these four can! James and Naja square off first and put on a clinic of precisely performed chain wrestling that hint towards an incredible one on one down the road. Naja tags Smoke and the quickness actually picks UP! Series of double team moves from them on the freshly tagged James including a Naja kick into a Smoke German suplex gets a near fall. Dax back in to execute a very well-timed powerslam and a near fall for Dax. Smoke catches him while trying to pounce from the top for a massive Smoke Slam to the canvas. Miscue from James and Dax lead to a Naja corkscrew spear! Almost a three-count but James and Anthony still had something left. Naja with a jumping knee strike to set up Smoke’s DDT on Dax for yet another near fall. James gains the advantage with two German suplexes then counters his opponents' attempts to dispel a third by performing a backflip into the THIRD GERMAN SUPLEX! Finally it’s “The Greatest, The Baddest, The Best” and Smoke with the High/Low to Sharpest Shooter to Frogsplash victory! Winners: Najasism & DJ Smoke
Match 2: Duncan M.A. VS Cosmo Martinez—Everybody’s favorite Atlanta Luchadore Cosmo Martinez starts off using his speedy abilities to gain control through headlocks and takedowns. After a small amount of this however it’s Duncan who slows the pace forcing Martinez to the mat with stomps followed by an impressive snap suplex. Both superstars had the same idea though and managed to kick each other for a double knockdown. M.A. finds his balance first for a superkick to Cosmo then a Blue Thunderbomb for a near fall. Finally, Martinez finds his feet in time for a deep neck scissors into an armbar for the WIN! Winner: Cosmo Martinez
Match 3: Austin Towers VS Stunt Marshall—The newcomer in Towers against the returning fan-favorite Stunt. To be giving up as much size as Stunt was, he found ways to hold his own throughout the match. Austin used his size and strength early to push Stunt around the squared circle. Lots of big blows and strikes accompanied by some slams and splashes kept Towers in full control early. Stunt found some footing with a go-behind waist-lock that had the big man spinning in circles to get loose. Tower’s power proved to be too much for Stunt as he was the recipient of one of the highest sidewalk slams I have ever seen that would make Ray Traylor proud. Towers then caught Stunt with an even higher chokeslam and it was all over after that. Winner: Austin Towers
Match 4: Gemma Jewels VS “Quadzilla” TGainz—Gemma brings in her impressive undefeated for the year streak versus the self-proclaimed “best quads in professional wrestling” TGainz! Beginning with some great collar an elbow tie-ups that ended with a clean break (TGainz) and not so clean break (Jewels), this match was as back and forth as both ladies were very evenly matched! Jewels taking the upper hand with her powerful clubbing forearms and kicks. TGainz countered with some headlocks and holds of her own that started to energize the crowd. Chinlock by Gemma lead to a TGainz comeback attempt that was thwarted by the “6 Foot Bombshell” after a pull of the hair followed by a huge elbow drop for a 2 count. Quadzilla found a window though and tried to finish Jewels off with a side-Russian leg sweep from the 2nd rope, with Gemma kicking out at 2. A running double knee splash then a bulldog yielded the same result for Quadzilla. Jewels attempted her calling card of her feet on the ropes for the winning pin, only to have TGainz KICK OUT! Jewels wore a look of disbelief and Quadzilla took advantage using a backslide to pin Gemma and hand her the first loss of 2024! Winner: “Quadzilla” TGainz
Eric Adamz back in the ring to plug the upcoming show on Friday at Atlanta Dairies near Grant Park!
Match 5: Main Event: Ryan Rembrandt VS Professor Pain (w/ 40oz CDub): “Detention Hall Brawl”—The culmination of the last few months of torture for Professor and CDub as Rembrandt not only got the best of Professor but cut part of the bear of CDub came down to this classroom chaos! Ryan smashes Professor early, snatches Pain’s vest and puts it on to help avoid the now frigid weather! Then he tries to take the mask off of Pain who fights off the attempt. Chalk clouds, globes, and staplers were just the beginning of all the weaponry used by both combatants. Posterboard pummeling and clipboard bashing had Ryan feeling like he was in Summer school. Rembrandt overcame it all and stapled Professor’s mask to Pain’s forehead! A coffee mug of numbered beads were dumped out by Rembrandt with the intent of dropping Professor on them. Pain battled back and made sure it was Double R who tumbled onto the debris. Cdub brandished a “chicken stick” and Ryan tried to flee to avoid the monstrosity only to have Professor hit him with the belly-to-belly slam for the win!
Post match Apollo Prince and Jay “Alpha” Miller hit the ring to beat down CDub and the Professor! Reigning champion Jacob Johnson, Najasism, DJ Smoke and more run down to rid the ring of the new super faction. Winner: Professor Pain
Overall, another incredible show from Deep South. Even with the Main Event change the crowd stayed around and were loud throughout. The mist stopped about mid-second match but the temperature stayed around 45 degrees, yet more showed up to watch. Naja and Smoke have to be the early favorites to win the Tag Tournament. Cosmo and Stunt were great as always. We need to see more Austin Towers in DSW. Gemma took her first loss to a big-time talent in TGainz that seemed to only spark a feud for these ladies. Great win for Professor Pain who avenged his buddy CDub’s beard trim and has organically become one of the top fan favorites of each Deep South Show. Finally, the new super faction could be a major force to deal with and could only strengthen Apollo Prince’s potential reign with the championship.
