From Jeremy York:
As the temperature drops, the action of Deep South Wrestling heated up the faithful
fans for the last outdoor show of the year at New Realm!
We start with 7 of the 8 participants in the upcoming Heavyweight Championship
Tournament in the ring (Alex Kane, Chad Skywalker, “Big Strong” Mims, Cosmos
Martinez, “Hollywood” Hunter James, Lamar Diggs, Austin Towers) with Drew
introducing them as competitors. Lots of chatter between them, but no physicality as 5
of the 7 leave the ring.
Commentary: Drew “Drewski” Dickinson & “The Voice of Violence” Nathan Hamilton
Ring Announcer: Chianne Michaels
Officials: Paul Santa & Jesse Morales
Match 1: “Hollywood” Hunter James VS “Agent 003” Chad Skywalker (Ref
Paul)—These two start the match with hostility that carried on throughout the match.
Chad gets a headlock, but Hunter rolls through. Skywalker with a go behind waist lock
then an amateur slam dropping James on his face. Hunter hits the ropes for a shoulder
tackle, yet Chad stands tall. They go for it again and yet again they both are still
standing. Arabian press from Skywalker then a dropkick for a one count. Chad leaps to
the second turnbuckle but slips on the wet ropes. James pounces to take the advantage
with a snap mare and crushing knee to the back of his foe. Then a wrist lock, crippler
snap suplex for a 1 count of his own. Hunter delivers a stiff forearm that stuns Chad for
a second, however he counters with a German suplex and flying crossbody. James
battles back with some big strikes then a shotgun dropkick in the corner by Skywalker
sets up a Sliced Bread 003. A crucifix bomb to a second turnbuckle moonsault for the
first two count of the contest. He goes to the top rope, met by Hunter who executes the
big slam. James hits the backflip into straight German suplex for a near fall. They trade
chain wrestling rollups, all for counts of two. Hunter rolls Chad into a seatbelt pin
attempt but he kicks out before three. Skywalker counters the James brainbuster
attempt with a roll up and the win!
Winner: “Agent 003” Chad Skywalker via pinfall
Match 2: Cosmos Martinez VS Nathanial Vanderbilt—As Cosmos came down the
aisle, Hunter James (who was slowly making his way to the back) attacks him and both
had to be separated so the match could begin. Once it did begin, Vanderbilt and
Martinez lock up with Vanderbilt catching his opponent in an arm lock. Cosmos grabs
Nathanial and rolls through the hold, ultimately flinging him across the canvas. They
trade chain knockdowns and trips then Cosmos finds a leg lock on Vanderbilt that has
him writhing in pain. He finds his way out of the hold though and levels Martinez with a
strong shoulder and a froggy crossbody splash for a two count. Nathanial smashes
Martinez with strikes and another near fall. A suplex, chin lock and a couple more two
counts later, Vanderbilt looks to be nearing the victory. Cosmos had a different plan as
he battles back before a double knock down has both competitors on the mat. Moments
later they both kip up only to simultaneously kick one another, grounding both again.
Jumping victory roll and second rope crossbody get Martinez a near fall. Vanderbilt uses
a package neck breaker to take over control once more. He follows up with a running
shooting star press and almost gets the three count, yet Cosmos kicks out just in time.
NV to the top rope and he’s met by Martinez who pulls off the Spanish Fly for the 1, 2,
Winner: Cosmos Martinez via pinfall
Marty Buccafusco out to thank the crowd and mention that this upcoming summer Deep
South Wrestling will be holding some wrestling camps for kids. 40 oz C-Dub and
Professor Pain come out to help promote it. Before the next match begins, it’s
announced Professor Pain has been added to the contest!
Match 3: Duncan M.A. VS CT Entertainment VS Ryan Rembrandt (c) VS Professor
Pain—Rembrandt ducks outside the ring while the remaining three trade roll up
attempts. Professor goes after Ryan on the outside, leaving CT and Duncan to duel. CT
dumps Duncan to the outside then crashes onto all three opponents! All four back in as
Rembrandt and CT crash into each other. Pain delivers a lariat to Duncan while CT and
Ryan grumble about the miscue. Duncan clotheslines them both while they argue.
Professor sees his opportunity and rolls up Duncan to eliminate him from the match!
Duncan is livid and takes it out on Professor by inflicting as much pain as he can before
finally being dragged to the back. Rembrandt commands Entertainment to cover the
now laid out Pain. He reluctantly does and Professor Pain is now eliminated, leaving
just the two Strength In Numbers members. After much debate between the two, Jay
“Alpha” Miller storms to ringside, grabbing a microphone. He tells CT to lay down so
Rembrandt can cover him to retain his championship. CT balks at the command. Miller
says if you do not do it, I’ll get (S.I.N. leader) Apollo to tell you. Miller holds up his phone
to the mic and the familiar voice of the former champ can be heard saying for CT to do
as he is told per their agreement. CT is distraught but lays down and Ryan flexes while
putting his foot on the chest of Entertainment as the referee counts the pinfall. After the
match they refuse to let CT off the mat and celebrate the win among the three of them.
Finally he gets to his feet and is told to put on his new S.I.N. shirt as they celebrate the
win. Before they can get too carried away, the music of Stunt Marshall hits as he and DJ
Smoke come to the ring.
Winner: Ryan Rembrandt via pinfall
Match 4: Stunt “Slap” Marshall & DJ Smoke (c) VS Jay “Alpha” Miller & Mystery
new S.I.N. member—We have been teased for a small time of a new member to the
power faction and tonight is the night we are to learn who they are. As the tag champs
are asking Miller who his partner is, Hakeem Young sprints to the ring to join Jay as the
newest member of Strength In Numbers! Stunt is not impressed lays in some massive
chops to Miller then tags Smoke who enters the ring with a delayed flip back splash
onto Miller. He gets a quick two count. Hurricanrana by DJ gets another two count.
Miller on the outside as Smoke appears to gear up for a flying attack but Marshall tags
from the apron and delivers a double axe handle to his foe on the outside. Dropkick
from Stunt gets yet another near fall. As Marshall grabs a wrist lock on Miller, he calls
for “Old School” as he approaches the turnbuckle. As he steps onto the second rope he
calls out “Middle School” and waltzes across before jumping on Jay to end the trek.
Smoke tags back in and his crossbody attempt gets a two count. Alpha finds his spot to
counter Smoke with a big back suplex and a two count of his own. Hakeem tags into the
match as he lines up for the football style tackle in the corner of DJ. Then an STO
grounds DJ as Young gets his first two count of the evening. Miller back in to put a
reverse chin lock on Smoke. They double team DJ in the corner with relentless strikes.
Miller lands a knee lift into a siedo suplex for a very near fall but Smoke kicks out just in
time. Jay’s urinagi gets a two count so he climbs to the top rope to drop a headbutt, but
Smoke moves at the last minute! Hot tags to Hakeem and Stunt. Stunt gets the upper
hand and leaps to the top for a trust fall splash! Running European upper cuts in the
corner by Marshall on Hakeem and Jay then he suplex slams Miller onto Young.
Referee Paul gets sent flying by an airplane spin by Stunt as his maneuver is turned
into a slam and Smoke executes the frog splash from the top rope, only there is no
referee to count! CT Entertainment slides one of the tag titles into the ring and tells
Stunt to use it. He refuses, however the heels take advantage by smacking him with the
championship. Hakeem lifts up Smoke and Miller uses a wicked looking flatliner on
Smoke for the 1,2,3. After the match, Rembrandt joins his teammates as they celebrate
and put on matching S.I.N. shirts. CT tries to hold out but is commanded to put his on
which he finally does. The big faction looks strong with three of the four championships,
and their leader not in attendance, but at the top of the list to challenge for the fourth.
Winners: (And NEW DSW Tag-Team Champions) Hakeem Young & Jay “Alpha”
Miller
Match 5: Austin Towers, Lamar Diggs VS Big Strong Mims, Alex Kane—Towers
and Kane start for their teams. They lock up with Towers pushing Kane into the corner.
Kane backs him out of the corner with some big forearms to the jaw of Austin. Mims
tags to splash Towers in the corner then a carousel of tags and splashes commence
from Kane and Mims. They both double strike Austin then Kane performs a running
splash in the middle of the ring for a two count. Towers finds a tag to Diggs after a
massive side slam. Diggs pairs that up with a mammoth leg drop for a near fall. Kane
battles back with a flatliner and two count. Towers and Mims both tag into the contest
and hit a stalemate with shoulder tackle attempts. Mims gets the advantage with a
splash in the corner and clothesline on Austin. Diggs finds a tag and drops Mims to set
up a Vader splash out of the corner and a series of powerslams while finishing the move
set with a delayed suplex. He gets a two and seven eighths count by Ref Jesse. Lamar
dropkicks then stands on Mims then Austin tags in. He headbutts Mims while adding in
crushing strikes and jabs in the corner. A snap mare, kick to the back, chin lock then a
bow and arrow had Mims almost ready to call it a day, yet he powers through the
onslaught. Hot tags to Kane and Diggs. Kane with the spear, German suplex and
superman punch as the “Suplex Assassin” almost got the pinfall but Diggs kicked out at
the last millisecond. Kane Olympic slams Towers, Diggs spinning powerbombs Kane,
Mims slams Diggs and Towers dropkicks Mims to level the field! They all fight to the
outside and Ref Jesse counts them all out for a double count out.
All four hear the bell
and announcement of the finish…then promptly continue their melee until Jacob
Johnson hits the ring to clear Towers and Diggs out! It’s then announced that he is
entrant #8 into the tournament!
Gemma Jewels parades to the ring to give her “State of the Women’s Division” address.
As she goes over her recent accomplishments and accolades. The crowd (who slightly
cheered her entrance to the ring) is now fully against the Women’s Champion. This
does not deter Gemma in the least. She asks for a chair to which Ref Jesse cannot
locate one so he becomes a bench for Jewels to sit on. She calls him every name other
than Jesse while continuing to ramble on while the crowd boos as loud as they had all
evening to this point. She finally makes all of her points and heads to the back.
Match 6—Main Event: Cappuccino Jones VS Najasism (C)—Speed early from Naja
as both trade roll up attempts to start. Jones with the picturesque dropkick then they
fight on the outside of the ring. They get back inside with Cappuccino performing a
standing frog splash for a one count. Then he goes for back to back splashes in the
corner on Naja. On the third attempt, Naja blocks with atomic drops and a neck breaker,
garnering a near fall. Then it’s a side Russian leg sweep into the turnbuckle with a roll
through as he uses a standing neck breaker and drive-by on the apron. The “Hoochie
Daddy” drops a knee on the back of CJ’s head, adds in a trip then a delayed front flip
back elbow from the apron to the inside. Naja gets a two count and as Jones kicks out
Naja turns it into a arm and torso submission! He follows it with a camel clutch, however
Cappuccino powers back into the contest with a running knee for a two and a half count.
They take turns blocking each others attacks. Jones hits some clotheslines in the corner
on Najasism then suplexes him into the turnbuckles. He performs and out to in elbow
then a slew of crisp jabs that had Naja reeling. Jones with the single arm suplex for a
short two count. Naja delivers a knee to the head and Michinoku driver for another near
fall. Cappuccino to the top rope but his giant splash misses. Najasism does his tornado
spear for and 1, 2…..kickout Jones! Naja slams Jones and gets another two count.
Austin Towers grabs a seat at ringside. Naja superkicks Cappuccino to set up a
spinning Olympic slam. Big Strong Mims comes to ringside, “Hollywood” Hunter James
follows suit. Jacob Johnson grabs a seat as well. Jones and Naja trade European
uppercuts. Naja uses a rolling slam into a second rope tornado splash. Alex Kane strolls
out. Rolling DDT from Jones for a near fall then he jumps to the top but misses again.
They both try multiple roll ups to two counts. In the end, it’s Najasism who rolls through
a pin attempt and gets tangled in the ropes as the referee counts to three!
Winner: Najasism via pinfall.
Takeaways:
-Skywalker and James are elite talents that are a must see on any card they are
on.
-Cosmos and Vanderbilt put on a display of non-stop action that furthered the
momentum the opener created with the crowd.
-Vanderbilt is highly underrated. He has an arsenal of maneuvers that you would
never expect and he performs them on a high level. Paired with Cosmos, it was
one of the best matches all night.
-The TV Title match had all kinds of debauchery that confused the fans
throughout. The action was good, but trying to follow the multiple random things
going on just got in the way of Duncan and Pain showcasing some really good
wrestling.
-Hakeem as the surprise new member added some real excitement and boom to
S.I.N. Add in winning the tag belts on his first night in DSW with Miller and it was
quite the banner night for the power faction, even with leader Apollo Prince not in
attendance.
-Moving the titles off of Stunt and Smoke is a little baffling. Add in them fighting
through the curtain post-match out of nowhere and it was as confusing as the
aforementioned TV Title match.
-Even to end in a double count out, the tag match featuring half of the upcoming
tournament did show a preview of what the tournament could look like. It should
be a great contest to create a new #1 Contender.
-Regardless of the foot injury, Najasism looked as good as he has the last few
years and really never missed a beat. Who can unseat him as champion? We are
about to see 8 of the top talents battle for that chance with each possessing a
believable case for being the next to hold the gold.
-Cappuccino Jones is the WWE ID Champion. For those not in the know, he is one
of the top indy talents around and showed tonight that having that nod from WWE
to carry their belt is no fluke. Highly talented and able to adapt to a speedy
innovative fireball like Naja, Jones is a must watch and should be on TV sooner
rather than later.
-Light crowd for a Deep South at New Realm show. Had a lot to do with the cold,
wet weather and the event moving back two hours on a Sunday night to avoid
even worse weather. If this is the “hard reset” we hear it could be, it will be
intriguing to see where DSW takes their plans in 2026. Could be a big year.
