Jeremy “The Impact” York:
On a night where the legendary “Enforcer” Arn Anderson was welcomed home and honored, it was the superstars of 1 Fall Wrestling that were trying to carve their own places in the wrestling world with incredible performances!
Ring Announcer: Diana Michel,
Officials: Paul Santa, Clark DeBenedetto, Dave “Slim” Thomas, Jesse Morales
Commentary: Brandon Benefield, Conrad Thompson
Pre-Show Match 1: Kelsey, Joiya Blake defeated Ezabella Wilder, Riley Judah by pinfall --Great opener for the evening. These women showcased some great skill and classic tag psychology. All brought something different to the match with the crowd really into the entire match.
Match 2: Il Cartello Grillo (Jason Sanders, KJ Impala, Hayden Seal) V. Terry “Rocker“ Lawler, Aaron Dallas, Holden Glass via pinfall -- Kyle Charisma (12 Gauge) was the guest ring announcer. It’s hard to stop Il Cartello Grillo right now. Just when you start to get the upper hand on one member, the rest pounce with wrestling skill and awareness. Team Rocker gave it a gallant effort, but in the end could not account for all members and suffered defeat.
Match 3: Annihilation defeated The Nightmares for the Prime Time Wrestling Tag Team Titles via pinfall --Prime Time Wrestling (promotion based in nearby Lindale) was able to get a major title match on this card and it was actually pretty good. Two solid teams who have clearly crossed paths a bit in the past. Lots of classic tag team action with the new champs of Annihilation overpowering their foes to win in the end.
Main Card Match 1: Tyler Shoop won the Battle Royal to join Team Anderson in the Cage Match. (Final Four: The Warden, “Frat Daddy” Bryce Cannon, Mark Davidson) --So many featured talents in this match. The final four all had the highest spots. Warden package piledrove at least five others before chucking them over the ropes. Cannon and Davidson showed why they are top National talents with style, grace and a unique repertoire of maneuvers that wowed the crowd. Shoop used the energy of the fans and his elusiveness to outlast them all.
Match 3: Gisele Shaw defeated Brooke Havok, Robyn Renegade & Hyena Hera via pinfall to retain her MLP Women’s Championship --Each traded the absolute best they had with their opponents with offense and control being pretty even among all four. A true fatal four-way as even after two would pair up to take out another, they would then immediately turn to try to take out each other. Shaw is as good as advertised, Havok will be a real contender anywhere she goes very soon. Hyena and Robyn are even better in person than on television.
Match 4: Orange Cassidy, Harley Cameron defeated Rosario Grillo, Valentina Rossi via pinfall --Grillo and Rossi really showed up and showed out for this contest against the polished vet Cassidy and breakout star Cameron. They gave the AEW stars all they could handle, however came up just short. I feel like that may not be the case if a rematch were to happen soon.
Match 5: Jeff Jarrett defeated Paul Hauser in a Tables Match (Guest Referee: Michael Ray) --Action quickly spilled to the outside and they fought across the entire arena. Literally from one side of the room to the other with Jarrett doing most of the damage. Houser is legit and proves every time that he can match up with his opponents. More incredible though is that Jarrett is in amazing shape and can still bring the fight like he always has.
Match 6: Jay Lethal defeated Elijah Drago via pinfall --What looks like a crazy mismatch in height of the competitors was really one of the most technical battles 1FW has had on a card in a bit. Drago used his power and alertness to avoid Lethal’s tactics, while Lethal utilized some veteran experience to keep the big man off balance. In the end it was the appearance of Lee Johnson who at first looked to be on Drago’s side before ultimately helping Lethal pick up the victory.
Match 7: Frat House (Cole Karter, Jacked Jameson, Preston Vance) defeated “Smart” Mark Sterling, Bryce Donovan, VSK via pinfall --For a match that got made over a disagreement at a beer pong game, this picked up in a hurry. Frat House has recently had the crowd behind them and used that to pick up the win. Glacier came out to help Frat House. Sterling more than held his own in the ring and his antics are hilarious. Looks like Frat House is turning their attention to Il Cartello Grillo now. That war will be a barn- burning attraction to witness.
Match 8: Angelica Risk defeated Remi Reade via pinfall to win the 1FW Women’s Championship --Remy’s championship reign has been awesome since winning last summer in Atlanta. After chasing her for the better part of that run it was great to see Risk add more hardware to the trophy case. Along with her GWH Female Performer of the Year award, she now has the 1FW Women’s Championship to further make the argument that she is one of the best on the scene.
Match 9: Andrade defeated QT Marshall via pinfall --Andrade might be the best current performer in wrestling right now. Never disappoints and keeps the energy up throughout the whole match. Plus, he is so likeable that every crowd instantly cheers him. QT is still one of the most underrated performers in wrestling. Can literally go toe to toe with anybody in any style.
Main Event--Match 10: Team Anderson (Brock Anderson, Tyler Shoop, Brady Booker, Billy Gunn) defeated Team Pierce (Brady Pierce, Supastarz: Jimmy Wild, Nicki Eight, Tommy Mars) via pinfall to win the Cage War --While some were disappointed Austin Gunn did not make it to the show, Shoop quickly helped many forget about it with his energy. Seeing the Brady versus Brady in a cage was a reminder that these two are not done with one another. Everybody got good spots in with Pierce landing a spinebuster reminiscent of the Anderson the night honored. The Supastarz are a great faction with quite the following. Close to half of the sign in the crowd were for them.
