Match 1: Stanley Summerville (w/ Jesse James & “Cowboy” Johnny Brown) Vs. Shawn Clark—Classic veteran chain wrestling to start with each trading wrist locks and Summerville applying a nice chin lock to slow down his powerful opponent. Clark throws Summerville into the turnbuckle hard, then Summerville throws himself into the buckle a few more times. Stanley gains control for a bit then Shawn powers up before delivering a wicked Death Valley Driver for the victory! Takeaway: Great classic veteran wrestling match featuring two guys who have been doing it for a bit. Crowd was really into it the whole time, from cheering on Clark to trying to help the demise of Summerville. This really got the crowd going early that carried throughout the night.
Winner: Shawn Clark via pinfall
Match 2: Big Andy Vs. JC Pain (w/ “Cowboy” Johnny Brown)—Andy’s big power advantage on display early. He misses a splash though and JC takes over with a beatdown of the larger foe. Pain goes after the leg and knee of Andy. Andy with some quick jabs to fight back then an Andy’s Strongest Slam for the victory. Takeaway: Andy has a big persona that reminds me of Damon Taz a little. JC Pain is very methodical and is actually a pretty solid southern heel. Fans like Andy more than they despised Pain, some fans liked JC Pain.
Winner: Big Andy via pinfall
Match 3: Lethal Gainz (Chris Gainz & Lamar Phillips) Vs. CJ Gallows, Luke Gallows (Temple Throwdown aka Street Fight)—Early in the night we find out this one will be a Street Fight and what a melee it was! From the opening bell these four used anything not nailed down (and some things that WERE) as tools to help lay out their opponents! Luke threw Gainz through a door leaned against the wall while CJ toppled Lamar with a trash can. Then Gainz got the upper hand on CJ with a chair. CJ fought back by stuffing a slice of pizza (featured along with hot dogs and more at the concession table) down the gullet of Gainz! Meanwhile Lamar beat on the elder Gallows with quick shots to the head in mocking fashion as Lamar jawed with anyone in earshot of him. Other weapons used included a badminton racket, workout elastic band, and so much more. Finale was when CJ tied Gainz to the outside ring post with the workout band while Luke hit the big slam on Phillips to get the 1-2-3!
Takeaway: This one got wild in a hurry. Literally so many objects were used as a means to defeat the other team. Just a super fun match to see with the action all across the building with fun spots everywhere. 95% of the match was everywhere but the ring and it was fantastic. Feels like these four may mix it up in the summer again soon.
Match 4: Douglas Sanders (c-Crusierweight Championship) Vs. ZERO Vs. Frankie Valentine (w/ Tweety)—Frankie and Zero lock up then exchange a nice mix of chain wrestling holds. Sanders gets in the ring only to get smacked by both foes. Frankie drop-toeholds Zero head first into D’s nuts. Zero finds his footing then gets knocked off the top rope by Sanders. As Douglas turns to look for Valentine, Frankie finds him first with a side-Russian leg-sweep with the accompanying float over for the win! New Champ!
Winner and new champion: Frankie Valentine
Takeaway: Zero has an excellent arsenal and gas tank that make him a threat to win any time out. He seems to have a renewed energy and passion that shows in his performances. Sanders is quite the annoying loudmouth who backs it up with good abilities. Frankie is still going strong as ever and it will be interesting to see what he does as the new champion.
Match 5: Eddie Honcho, Xander Cage Vs. BK Bennet, Rico Bravo (Air B & B—SECW Tag Team Championships)—Cage and Bennet begin by exchanging headlocks the Bennet with a nice takeover, keeping his grip around the noggin of Cage. Rico tags in as the champs execute some good double team maneuvers. Honcho breaks up a pin attempt then tags in as he takes control of the match for his team. Cerebral attacks from Eddie while also using his size advantage had the champions reeling. He tags Cage back in. Eventually he and BK hit simultaneous crossbody attacks. Honcho back in only to miss a big leg drop. Rico hits a crazy tope’ suicida on Cage on the outside. Back in Air B & B with the pedigree/big stomp from the top combo for the victory!
Winners: Air B & B
Takeaway: Obviously if you saw the poster, Air B & B were scheduled to take on another team other than Eddie Honcho and Xander Cage. Other team did not make it to the show, so these two stepped in and more than held their own versus one of the more decorated teams in the surrounding area. Honcho is really good in the ring and has antics that got many a chuckle from the fans. Cage is fresh out of the training ground and is already doing some good things with minimal backfire. However, not many can say they are having a better current run than Bennet and Bravo. Since teaming they hold two sets of tag championships and have held a few singles championships as well. Going to take an even better team to take them down any time soon.
Match 6—Main Event: Sean Nelson (c-Heavyweight Champion) Vs. Elrod Campbell (w/ “Cowboy” Johnny Brown)—Lots of squaring up and postering by Elrod at the beginning. Sean does not look amused as he would rather smash his foe than look at him. They lock up and back into the corner. Clean breaks from both. The official gets distracted and Campbell hits a low blow on the champ. He applies a rear chin lock to try to wear Nelson down. Sean finds his way to his feet then Elrod catches him in a sleeper hold. Nelson fights out to land a impactful spine-buster! The official is knocked down and CJB slams his cane into the face and throat area of Nelson. The official miraculously awakens in time to count the pinfall for Campbell who is your NEW heavyweight champion. JC Pain comes out to document the big win. Takeaway: It took a hook (cane) by a crook (Johnny Brown) to help Campbell beat Nelson for the championship, yet the record books will just show the winner. Whether you agree with them or not, Elrod is the new champion. It will take a lot to knock him off the top of the mountain especially knowing you have to contend with CJB and possibly JC Pain as well. Sean Nelson is not a person I would want angry with me for any reason. Campbell will have his hands full when they square off again as Nelson will stop at nothing to get his championship back.
Winner: (and NEW SECW Heavyweight Champion) Elrod Campbell (w/ “Cowboy” Johnny Brown).
