The Callaway Livestock Pavilion - Buchanan
Ring Announcer: Jason Boyd
Officials: Caleb Lane, Jacob Escobar, Butterbean
The Boss: Jameson Lee
We open with Jason Boyd welcoming the fans to the rebirth of WGW. Then he
welcomes Jay “Alpha” Miller to the ring. Miller proceeds to inform the crowd of
how he plans to defeat Premier All-Star Champion AJ Black later in the night. This
prompts Black to appear and the two trade verbal jabs before “The Boss”
Jameson Lee intervenes to let cooler heads prevail and keep the Main Event of
the evening intact.
Match 1: Zander Whoric Vs. Josh Storm—Zander like a fireball out of the gate. Storm
battles back then targets the leg of Whoric to slow him down. As Zander attempts to
even it back up, it’s Josh with veteran tactics and more intense damage to the lower
body of his foe. Back to his feet it’s Whoric who leads the charge to go toe-to-toe with
Storm as they trade big attacks to the delight of the crowd. Ultimately it’s Storm with a
deep Sharpshooter for the win.
After the bell he hangs on further until Frankie Valentine and Tweety come to the ring to
make him break the hold. Frankie and Josh discuss history on the mic, then Storm
challenges Frankie to a Beach Creek Brawl at the next show (June 6 th in same venue).
Frankie accepts.
Winner: Josh Storm via submission
Match 2: “The Youngblood” LGV Vs. “The Neglected” Landon Bradley—Pro
Wrestling Alliance Heavyweight Champion Bradley brought his superior arrogance to
combat the ever-dangerous, super-quick LGV in a first-time match-up between the two
grapplers. From the jump, Bradley utilized his highly-adapted heelish skills, grounding
early offense from his opponent. “The Youngblood” did find some footing with some
DEEP arm drags as he hurled the PWA champ across the ring multiple times. Landon
grounds LGV and chokes him in an MMA mount position. The referee gives him the
usual 5 count, however after he hears “three” Bradley jumps up and declares himself
the winner because the official “counted to three in his favor”. LGV mounts a solid
comeback using a handful of tilt-a-whirl style maneuvers then an out of nowhere insane
cutter from Landon had LGV standing on his head before finally falling to the mat!
Bradley misses a shining wizard resulting in LGV rolling him up for the 1, 2, 3!
Winner: “The Youngblood” LGV via pinfall
Match 3: Trey Jordan Vs. Terry “Rocker” Lawler—Trey is embracing his Korean
heritage more lately which is awesome. Lawler is embracing his “I’ve been doing this a
long (LONG) time and can still do it well” mode, which is also awesome. These two
tangled with Jordan’s power combatting the veteran ingenuity of Rocker. After some
domination by TJ, the tide turned when he missed a top rope splash. Lawler executed a
swinging neck-breaker variation for the win.
Winner: Terry “Rocker” Lawler via pinfall
Jason Boyd welcomes out Frankie Valentine and Tweety. Frankie talks about how
hard it’s been for him lately with family loss and life situations. His long-time
friend and competitor Josh Storm comes out to reminisce. Storm challenges
Frankie to not only come back to competition, but to accept his challenge for a
“Beach Creek Brawl” at the next show (June 6th —Buchanan). Frankie accepts.
Match 4: “Lethal Lariat” Lamar Phillips Vs. “Southern Outlaw” Sean Nelson—Ever
wish you could witness a southern barn brawl in person? This one did not disappoint!
Clubbing blow after blow, big time devastating maneuver by each big dog in this fight.
Even fighting through the crowd as the fans scatter to avoid being caught in the wrath of
the battle. After some time they roll back into the ring where Phillips tries to crush
Nelson with a barrage of running splashes in the corner. Sean responds with some big-
time clotheslines, but Lamar catches him with the Lethal Lariat for the win! Reminded
me of an old-school territory fight where the toughest fighter from a town or crime
organization would send out their baddest to prove who was superior. Lamar may have
won this round, never count out the Southern Outlaw though.
Winner: “Lethal Lariat” Lamar Phillips via pinfall
Match 5—Main Event: Jay “Alpha” Miller Vs. “Pretty Boy” AJ Black (c—Premier
All-Star Heavyweight Championship)—Two top young talents in the Southeast
squaring off for one of the biggest prizes in West Georgia! Lots of barking before the bell
from each competitor. As they lock up AJ takes the early advantage with solid arm work
on Jay. Action spills to the outside where they fight into both sections of bleachers, each
taking mega damage from their opponents with slams and chops. Back inside the
squared-circle it’s the power of Alpha on display, keeping the champ off balance. A rear
chin lock grounds AJ for a bit until he hears the crowd rally behind him. A big elbow
from Miller stifles the comeback attempt. AJ’s next fire up is more successful with a
cutter counter into a hanging neck breaker. A suplex leads to an STO attempt by Black,
but Miller pulls the official in the way and Black levels the official instead! Alpha seems
to have some discomfort near his ankle. He digs into his boot to adjust and find a
necklace. He tries to show it to his foe who runs into it instead. To avoid confusion Alpha
tosses the accessory to the side. He picks up Black for the Alpha Slam for the 1…2…3!
New Champion! Miller is celebrating as another official and The Boss rush out to
convince the match official to restart the match and throw out the original decision. After
some deliberations they do restart the match. AJ takes quick advantage of a distracted
Jay and rolls him up for the pin!
Winner: (And STILL Premier All-Star Heavyweight Champion) “Pretty Boy” AJ
Black
Takeaways:
-Initial decision in the Main should have stood with Jay “Alpha” Miller being your
new champion. Even Ring Announcer Jason Boyd came down to make a similar
case that fell on deaf ears. Hopefully these two line it up again soon. Beyond that,
incredible showcase of Black and Miller as headlining performers who should be
welcome in any promotion as top talents.
-Nelson and Phillips almost stole the show with their brawl. It warmed up a semi-
involved crowd into a frenzy that greatly benefitted the Main Event. Reminder:
stay out of these two’s way anytime they mix it up.
-Trey Jordan embracing his heritage is a great thing. I look forward to where he
goes with it as he is building a solid foundation for a good future run.
-“Rocker” Lawler is still highly entertaining and effective between the ropes. He
recently retired veteran Wolfgang Timbs from competition and has been featured
on 1FW cards. What could be next in his illustrious career? Stay tuned to find out.
-Zander and Storm had a fast, fun match to open the card. Storm is a big veteran
who can still go and Zander is such a fireball of energy that can fuel a crowd’s
support quickly.
-LGV and Landon Bradley had great chemistry, especially for a first time match up
between the two. LGV has some fun high-flying mixed with an interesting
ingenuity. Bradley’s heelish nature was really effective in turning the crowd
against him from the start.
-West Georgia Wrestling restarted recently to give more talents a platform to
prove their worth in the ring. If Episode 1 is any indication of what the future
could be, this is a show to keep an eye on and check out.
