From Larry Goodman:
Keelin Cole is the new DWA World Champion. He beat Tyler Stevens, the man who established the DWA title as a legitimate world championship, in a wild and crazy main event that had the crowd losing its mind.
Like most DWA shows, it had a bazillion title matches. This one delivered big payoffs.
KJ Valentine is the new Multiversal Champion, one of the select few to hold that prestigious title in this dimension.Dante Darko, Hakeem Young, Justin McKenzie and Hakeem Young tore the house down in fast and furious fatal four way. When the smoke cleared, Darko was new number one contender for the DWA World Championship.
The beauty Brimstone Tavern is the intimacy and of the environment and how passionate these can getcrowd about what they are seeing.
Mr. Danger was our master of ceremonies for the evening. Referees were Darryl Hall, Anthony Rivera and a new guy whose name I did not catch. Conspicuous by his absence was Don Miguel.
(1) Don Cameron (with loudmouth white guy) defeated Jimmy Daryn and Shoota Gabe to retain the WWA4 Internet Championship in 5:50. Daryn was in superhero regalia. Cameron's manager got involved. Gabe superkicked him in the mouth. Cameron went on to pin Daryn with a classic flying elbow drop.
(2) Wonderboyz (Aaron & Ethan Dallas) defeated Father Marquis & Von LaFlare in 12:32. Nice match. The Dallas brothers have the timing on their double teams down pat Marquis insisted on being in charge and bossing LaFlare around. Crowd chanted "that's not holy" at the good Father. Marquis wanted LaFlare to use his collection plate as a weapon. LaFlare rebelled and got leveled by Ethan's Hart-attack style assisted leg drop. They did a good job of getting the story across. LaFlare has gotten a lot better.
Alex Kane said he had run through Fade Area Militia to win the King of the South title and was debating whether or not to give Eddie Hindrixx a rematch. Jay Tyler stormed the ring along with a stressed out Travis 3000. Tyler said Kane barely escaped their match with the title and he did Hindrixx's work for him.
Kane made the semi-main event match: If Tyler beat him, he would get the title match instead of Hindrixx but if he lost, T3K would have to join Boyame Fight Club.
(3) Corinne Joy defeated Sam Axl to retain the DWA Women's Championship in 6:33. Sam fared about as well as could possible for someone with almost zilch for in-ring experience. Joy could have pinned Sam after her Samoan Drop but chose to pull her up at the count of two and beat her with a piledriver.
Joy shook Axl's hand in a show of sportsmanship...then gave her two more piledrviers on the belt. Crowd loved Joy on her way to the ring and hated her on her way out.
Vivian Cross offered to take Axl under her wing. Only under her guidance could Axl reach her full potential. Cross said they were kindred spirits that lived authentically and could not be controlled. Sam could cross the threshold to salvation or be doomed to damnation. Vivian's promo got me interested in seeing where this goes.
(4) Dante Darko defeated Jose Manuel and Hakeem Young and Justin McKenzie to become the number one contender for the DWA Championship in 6:55. Bell to bell non-stop action with everyone hitting their stuff. They played the three babyface and one heel hand perfectly. Young was shot from guns hitting everything under the sun, the got his ass handed to him by the babyfaces. One big move after another, bodies flying everywhere. Crowd chanted for Darko. Young thought he had it with a spear on McKenzie. Darko broke up the pin and got the three count on Hakeem.
(5) Prince Moulay defeated Dominic Stuckey to retain the LLC Championship in 8:16. The crowd chanted "That's my Prince" at Moulay. He turned Moulay's handshake into a series of pin attempts and did a walk away spot. Moulay gt a close near fall with double jump leg drop. Stuckey appeared the have the match in hand whe Moulay reversed his finisher with an inside cradle. They did a lot of athletic stuff but something was missing.
(7) Alex Kane defeated Jay Tyler when special referee Travis 3000 disqualified Tyler at the 9 minute mark. Travis must leave Fade Area Militia and join Bomaye Fight Club. T3K was determined to call it right down the middle. Tyler exploded out of the gate like a man possessed. Rocked Kane's world. Kane instinctively started suplexing Tyler all over the place, broke out two variations of a hammerlock suplex. Tyler responded with a sithout powerbomb and a drive by. Kane kicked out of Tyler's spear at the last split second. Tyler was not happy with T3K's officiating. Moments later, T3K DQed Tyler for kicked Kane in the dick.
Crowd chanted "you just screwed him". Tyler punched Travis in the mouth. Kane said Jay was a cheap ho and he was giving Hindrixx the match.
This match delivered in the ring and in the story department. Great contrast in style from the rest of the show. Tyler was on his game. T3K as part of Bomaye Fight Club should be rich.
(8) Keelin Cole defeated Tyler Stevens in a no DQ match to win the DWA World Championship in 12:29. The room was electric. Back in the day they would have said the curtain was sold out. "1 of 1" chant for Keelin.
Cole was fighting for his life just as Stevens said he would be. The match was built on series of incredible spots, in between, they pounded the living shit out of each other. Stevens sent Cole into the newly famous pillar with a snake eyes.. Stevens bridged a 4 X 8 sheet of particle board on the floor. Cole took a backdrop over the top rope, almost touching the ceiling and went straight through the flimsy particle board to the floor. Cole survived. No pro wrestler should attempt to duplicate this bump.
To chants of "stop the violence" and "this is wrestling", a second 4 X 8 plywood sheet was bridged inside the ring. Cole put Stevens through the plywood with a blockbuster but Stevens kicked out. Stevens kicked out a springboard cutter at one. Cole kicked out of a Stevens' chokelsam at one. Stevens did a torture rack into a burning hammer that looked like death. Cole kicked out 2.9. Crowd was losing it.
Stevens tried to duplicate the thing he did to Cole at the last show that went viral -- a powerbomb from inside the ring into the pillar outside. Cole escaped, landed one, two, three supericks and put Stevens down with the Keelin Cutter.
The crowd was in seventh heaven. One of my favorite matches of the year. Both guys were great. That backdrop over the top through the plywood had to launched just right or it could have been really ugly.
NOTES: DWA will be at Wild Wings on then back at Brimstone on August ...Grayson Pierce was backstage...McKenzie and company drove from ProSouth's show in Piedmont AL to Jacksonville NC to do Bojack's TBD birthday show -- a 10 hour drive - caught some sleep in a rest stop and arrived in Alpharetta for DWA, then drove home to Montgomery.
