This is a recap of OVW TV Episode 782 that will be aired in Louisville on 8/16 and is available online at http://www.ovwrestling.com/tv/782
We see Adam Revolver on the phone with Michael Titus, who will not be here tonight. Revolver reminds Titus that he and Marcus Anthony have a tag match tonight against Roberto DeLuna and Randy Terrez but reluctantly accepts Titus' absence. Revolver turns and delivers the news to Anthony, who growls menacingly and warns Revolver to stay out of his way tonight as he will eat them alive!
Match #1: Dapper Dan vs OUR OVW TV Champion Michael (not PS) Hayes
One of the anonymous refs is in charge of this title match. It is announced that later tonight, we will see a four-team gauntlet match with the winners going to the 9/6 Saturday Night Special for a shot at the tag titles. As the initial lockups happen, Revolver comes out and has a seat at the announce table, saying that he is flustered about the bad press he is receiving for sneak attacking Hayes. Gilbert claims these are facts but Revolver calls it justice since he claims Hayes stole his title and his finishing move! Gilbert questions why Revolver hasn't used his rematch clause but gets no answer. Meanwhile, the two wrestlers trade blows in the corner before Hayes sideslams Dan and spots Revolver. Hayes comes out and traps Revolver behind the announce table but Dan comes out and clubs him with a forearm and rolls him back in. Dan walks into a jaw jacker then Hayes pulls him into the upside-down crossface for the submission victory.
OUR OVW Tag Team Champions Jamin Olivencia and 'Psychedelic Superstar" Chris Silvio (but no Mary Jane:( are in the back. Silvio says they need to start acting like a team (so "The Chris Silvio Show" will soon be "The Chris & Jamin Show"?) and has a present for Jamin, a personalized vest just like Silvio's! Ryan Howe comes into the room all upset, grabs his guitar and heads out.
The Congregation ("Pastor of Disaster" Rev. Stuart Miles, "Altar Boy" Jay Dawson, & "Apostle" Jake Glasure) come to the ring in gray shirts and black pants. Dean says those are guitar strings that Miles has in his hand! Gilbert explains the concept of a "beside Baptist" as Miles tells us that the good word for the day is "wrath", because for too long we have been allowed to make choices without facing wrath (not Bryan Clark). Too many people who call themselves superstars have led people astray but tonight he will bring the wrath and show that if there is no forgiveness or redemption, there must be destruction and wrath! Howe's music hits and he comes out with the damaged guitar. Dean values the guitar at $3000 and is upset that its neck has been broken. Howe gets all up in Miles' face but Miles hangs on to the mic and repeats the last line of the sermon. Dawson attacks Howe but gets decked with one punch as does Glasure, before Howe dumps both of them out. Howe grabs Miles by the collar and says something but the mic went out. Dawson and Glasure mount another attack which is more successful, culminating with Miles whacking Howe with the good book. Miles grabs Howe by the arm and again repeats the last of his sermon, emphasizing that he will bring the wrath!
Jim Cornette will be appearing at the Kentucky Flea Market at the State Fairgrounds Expo Center in Louisville on August 29 through September 1.
Time for the four team gauntlet match!
Match #2A: Leon Shelly & Deonta Davis vs The Wild Boyz ("The Teflon Don from Boca Raton" Eddie Diamond & "Party Starter" Bud Dwight)
"Paragon of Virtue" Josh Ashcraft is the ref here as Dwight brings out a beer bong! Wild Boyz "party" with Shelly for a bit before double hiptossing him then doing the same to Davis. Shelly and Davis get whipped together then Diamond launches off Dwight to splash Shelly in the corner before they hit Shelly with their double-team sideslam (which they call the "Sobriety Check") for the pin.
Match #2B: Wild Boyz vs The Fabulous Freebodies (Body Guy & Big Jon Body)
Hey, a rematch from last month's Elizabethtown event!!! (On YouTube titled "OVW 7/26/14-The Fabulous Freebodies vs The Wild Boyz") Body Guy takes Diamond down to the mat but Diamond works back to his feet and pulls Body Guy to the corner. Wild Boyz "party" with Body Guy a while until he gets whipped to the ropes and Big Jon catches him, causing Diamond to whiff on a dropkick. Freebodies work over Diamond, even taking turns suplexing him. Diamond fights out of a Body Guy headlock but gets hairpulled back down to the mat. Body Guy swivels his hips over Diamond, who grabs him and rolls him into a small package for the pin.
Match #2C: Wild Boyz vs Shiloh Jonze & Eric Locker
Jonze and Locker come out through the curtain but wait for the Freebodies to finish their sore loser attack. Jonze quickly runs in to get a near three count on Diamond then he and Locker begin working over Diamond. It is brought up about Jonze's promise last week to Locker that there would be gold at the end of the rainbow. Jonze snapmares Diamond for 2 then holds him for Locker to come in and apply a nerve hold. Diamond gets to his feet but takes a kneelift before Jonze comes back in. Diamond rolls away from a Jonze kneedrop but crawls to the wrong corner looking for a tag. Jonze charges at Diamond in the corner but gets rolled up for 2 before Locker breaks it up and hairpulls Diamond to the mat. Jonze tries to back drop Diamond, who flips away and makes the tag! Dwight comes in all fired up but Locker blind tags himself in and hits an overhead slam on Dwight for the pin and the spot at SNS.
Match #3: "The Man" Jason Lee vs Rump Thump
The anonymous ref from earlier is in charge. Lee shows off his biceps and RT shows off his rump. Lee whips RT across the ring then ducks a thrust kick and rolls out. RT chases him back in and makes him miss an elbow before banging his head in the turnbuckles. RT comes off with a missile dropkick then monkey flips Lee but gets his second try blocked and gets rolled up for 2. Lee pounds away on RT and suplexes before dropping a second rope elbow but he dawdles a bit and is only able to hold RT down for 2. Lee goes for an abdominal stretch but can't quite get it hooked in all the way due to RT's large rump. RT is able to hiptoss Lee over but gets whipped into the corner. Lee pulls down his kneepad and charges at RT but misses the running knee and RT gives him the Rump Thump (the move) for the pin.
Already signed for Elizabethtown, KY for 8/23 is Howe vs Miles! Dean is outraged at Miles destroying such a fine musical instrument!
Match #4: Adam Revolver & Marcus Anthony vs Randy Terrez & "Mexicutioner" Roberto DeLuna
Ashcraft is the ref here as Anthony is greeted with "you tapped out" chants. Terrez opens up with a Thesz press on Revolver and hammers away on him until Revolver connects on the Eyepoke of Doom! They chop each other in the corner until DeLuna tags in to suplex Revolver. After Terrez hits a flying forearm, DeLuna holds up Revolver for another suplex as the crowd count to ten in Spanish before he finishes the move. Revolver pulls away from Terrez and tags in Anthony. Terrez bounces off Anthony a couple of times before he tags out to DeLuna and the two have a staredown at center ring. DeLuna can't block Anthony down so he comes off the ropes with a kick to stagger him. Terrez and DeLuna pull down the top rope ahead of the charging Anthony, who tumbles to the floor. Revolver gets dispatched to the floor also via a double hiptoss then Terrez and DeLuna feign diving out onto them as we go to break.
Back from break, Terrez is getting double-teamed as he fell victim to a sneak attack. Ref Jordan Barker is shown watching the match from a monitor in the back. Revolver grabs a front facelock on Terrez and gets pushed backwards toward DeLuna but a kneelift puts a stop to that. Ashcraft wanders over to interpret rules or something with DeLuna as Terrez rolls up Revolver but Anthony comes in to roll Revolver on top for 2. Anthony kicks Terrez in the ribs but gets his boot up to back Anthony away then tries to go over him for a tag but gets caught and slammed. Anthony stands on Terrez for 2 then Terrez gets dragged to the apron so Revolver can elbow him a few times. Revolver pulls Terrez to center ring and applies the sleeper. Terrez almost goes down but arises and works out of the hold (according to Dean, he turned into the pain-what pain would a sleeper cause?) and suplexes Revolver. DeLuna tags in and spinebusters Revolver for 2 but Anthony breaks it up. Anthony grabs DeLuna and sets up for a one-armed powerbomb but DeLuna slips behind him to join Terrez in double spearing him out of the ring. DeLuna picks up Revolver and holds him as Terrez comes off the ropes and they plant Revolver into the mat. DeLuna covers and Ashcraft counts a really slow three count for the pin.
Anthony initiates a sore loser attack by giving an overhead slam to Terrez and a one-armed powerbomb to DeLuna. Anthony grabs Terrez again but OUR OVW Champion Mr. Marvelous Melvin Maximus comes out to powerslam Anthony then clothesline him over the top rope. We are reminded that the 9/6 Saturday Night Special has Melvin vs Anthony for the title as the show goes off.
THOUGHTS: I'm guessing the Wild Boyz will still get their tag title shot in Elizabethtown that the earned last month by defeating the Freebodies. Also guessing that Titus is out on a recruiting trip but the truth is he wasn't really missed this week. I liked Dapper Dan's black derby that he wore to the ring. Apparently Rump Thump has shattered the "glass ceiling" since he defeated "The Man". Will Howe get Jeff Jarrett to hook him up with some of his guitars to use on The Congregation? Despite the absence of ladies here, this show was good enough to get like a 30-degree thumbs up.
