From Rob Brodhecker:
Owner/promoter
Gary Lamb and booker Dylan Frymyer are aiming to get 1000 fans into the Action
Arena in with a mix of exciting matches and guest appearances like
Cody Rhodes and Dustin Thomas. The first six rows on either side of the ring are sold out, leaving the general admission
seats left. There was a line of people stretching all the way down the front of
the strip mall, Southern Honor is on one end. The main event for the evening is
a triple threat match between, Alan Angles, AC Mack, and Shannon Moore. A women's match between Lindsay Snow and Heidi Katrina, The Ugly Ducklings vs. the
Lynch Mob, The New Era's Lee Johnson vs. former Action Champ Kevin Ryan, Lance
Anoa'i vs. Sean Legacy, Ashton Starr vs. Owen Knight, and Corey Hollis vs. Sunny
Daze are on the card. The ring Announcer is Pat McDermott, video commentary by Brandon Benefield and
Adam Howell.
Lee
Johnson (with David Ali) of the New Era vs. Kevin Ryan
Ryan
comes out to a standing ovation from the crowd, complete with signs spelling
out his name along a back row. Johnson eats a superkick from Ryan after turning
his back off the bell Lee rolls outside, and Ryan dives on him from both the
ring and the stage. Ryan wants to climb the turnbuckles, but Lee shoves him off
and into the barricades. Lee does his own dive to the outside and is in control
back in the ring. Lee hits a spinning somersault from the top rope for a near
fall. Ryan hits a desperation move to create a rest spot. Both men on the
apron, Lee trying for a piledriver, Ryan fights out of it and drives Lee onto
the apron. Trading blows in the middle of the ring. Ryan lands a tombstone for
a near fall. He goes up top, but Ali grabs him. Ryan somersaults onto Ali. Lee
catches Ryan coming back into the ring and nails a GTS for the pin. Time:
10:49. An exciting, up-tempo opening match with very few miscues by either man;
B+.
McDermott brings Lamb out: Months ago this was just a vision, the fans
made it a reality, Says that at the end of the day, 1000 people believed in
SHW. A short and sweet promo.
They had just over 1000 people in the building, 1026 was
what I was told, I can't count that high.
Legacy
has a devoted fan base here, and Lance has his own fans as well, They shake
hands to start. I don't know what style Lance has, but Sean is an uptempo
technical guy. A nice dropkick from Sean sends Lance out of the ring. Lance
lands his own dropkick. A pop up Samoan slam from Lance for a near fall. A neat
sequence of reversals nets a near fall for Sean. Lance hits a superkick when
Sean was leaping in the air but only got a 2 count. The ending was Lance
missing a splash from the top rope and Sean covering. Time: 7:45. I believe
that there was a miscommunication by the referee there. The ending didn't take
much away from the match, I give it a solid B.
Owen
Knight (with David Ali) from the New Era vs. Ashton Starr
Some
streamers are tossed in the ring for Ashton. The crowd is going nuts for
Ashton. An interesting submission attempt by Owen, but Ashton squirms away.
They are fighting towards the 10-minute time limit. Owen hits a Spicoli Driver
to his knee, but Ashton kicks out. Ashton wants to go up but Ali grabs Ashton
and Ashton makes him pay. Owen catches Ashton coming into the ring, slams
Ashton's face into the turnbuckle and pins him. Time 9:55. A solid B
matchup.
A video airs of someone walking with a crutch,
the crowd starts chanting "Joe." He throws the crutch away and says
that he's back with the June 7th date on the screen.
A
video plays highlighting past incidences of Corey Hollis, Logan Creed, and
Sunny Daze.
Corey
Hollis (with Brady Pierce) vs. Sunny Daze (with Ravenna)
Corey
grabs the mic and says that he wasn't raised to hit women and says that from
the bottom of his heart that he is sorry to Brooklyn. He's sorry that Brooklyn
inserted herself into a man's world. He tells the production team to replay
what happened to Brooklyn at the last show. Corey is laughing in the ring. He
says that the real monster is what's in Corey's head. He tells the production
team to play the video again. They play it again, and then Sunny's intro plays,
and Sunny comes out to a standing "O." Brady tries to attack when
Sunny enters the ring and Sunny fights him off and tosses him out of the ring
and tosses Corey on top of Brady. A "Sunny's going to kill you" chant
happens. Sunny misses a cannonball and Corey takes over. Corey throws Sunny
outside and Brady attacks. Sunny hits a spinning sidewalk slam for a near fall.
Corey bites the head and then pulls the ref in front of him to prevent Sunny's
attack. Sunny sets Corey up for a cannonball, but Brady enters the ring and
attacks Sunny. The ref calls for the bell: 8:21. Corey grabs the mic and says
that he's taking over the company. Ravenna comes into the ring, and Corey says
that he didn't break Brooklyn's neck, but he's going to break hers. Creed's
music plays, and he comes in through the crowd and dives onto Corey and Brady
who were waiting on him to come from the entrance ramp to the delight of the
crowd. This is setting up for a showdown in the future between Corey and Logan.
For the match and storytelling, gets this an A-
Intermission.
The Ugly
Ducklings vs. The Lynch Mob (Matt and Joey Lynch)
I
have to admit that this is the match that popped my interest the most. This is
a battle of two "good guy" teams and the action I'm expecting to be
all over the ringside area. Coach Mikey is on the mic Rob Killjoy and Lance
Lude, Mikey asks that since there are 3 of the Ducklings and 2 of the Mob, do
they have anyone else? Joey says yes, and we have a production fail with the
video and music. Doo doo occurs sometimes. Dustin Thomas comes out. He's making
some waves on the indy scene working with his handicap. After some chain moves,
Joey tags in Dustin, and he takes down Rob via the legs. A sweet spot happens
then the Ducklings are on the outside and Matt dives through the ropes, then a
moonsault by Joey, and then a somersault by Dustin. The Ducklings have Dustin
isolated. Mikey looks apologetic attacking Dustin. Dustin flips Rob from the
top rope and tags out. Mikey eats stereo superkicks from Matt and Joey. The Mob
set up the Ducklings for a 619 by Dustin.
The ending was the Mob hitting their finisher followed by Dustin doing a
360 over the top rope for the pin. Time: 12:38. A lot was going on, so I would
definitely watch the video when you have the chance. B.
Heidi
Katrina vs. Lindsay Snow
The
British Glamazon looks impressive at first sight. This will be my first time
seeing either lady in action. Heidi has about 6 inches in height over Lindsay.
Heidi is stalling even before the bell rings. Heidi gets a USA chant directed
at her. Heidi is jawing with the crowd, and the crowd is giving it back at her.
Heidi and Lindsay finally lock up at the 3-minute mark. Heidi is establishing
her strength advantage, Lindsay, her quickness. The action goes outside the
ring with Lindsay getting the worst of the exchange. Back in the ring, Lindsay
is trying to rally the crowd to her. Lindsay locks in a submission for the tap
out at 8:57. I give it a C+. Lindsay is up on the stage, and Dani Jordyn
attacks from behind. The 3 refs have to pull her off.
Video
plays of Cody Rhodes inviting Sunny Daze to the AEW All or Nothing show for the
Over the Budget Battle Royal. Cody Rhodes comes out with Pharoh, and everyone's
cell phones come out to take pictures and videos. He announces that Dustin
Thomas will compete in the over the budget battle royal. Cody brings out Frymyer and puts him over with all the things Dylan does behind the scenes.
Cody invites Dylan's mom into the ring. Cody says that he wanted one last match
on the indies and says that Dylan's mom would make a good opponent, Dylan's mom
pins Cody in 6 seconds. Lol. Dylan tells the crowd "Thank you."
The
New Era's Alan Angels(c) vs. Shannon Moore vs. AC Mack for the Southern Honor
Championship. This is a no DQ match
McDermott announces Shannon and then hands the mic to AC to do his own intro, and he
nails it. Pat then announces Alan. Who would have thought that Shannon would
have a height advantage on someone? AC spears Alan off the bell, and they roll
out of the ring and fight out on ringside while Shannon's just waiting for
whomever to come back in. It's Alan and Shannon just blasts Alan's chest with
some thunderous chops. AC's back in, and they have a brief 2 on 1 on Alan.
Shannon and AC face off after Alan's laid out, and then Alan pulls Shannon out
of the ring and throws him into the barricade. AC tope's Alan. Alan grabs the
ref and then blindsides Mack. Shannon's keeps getting tossed out of the ring.
Shannon's able to powerbomb Alan from the middle turnbuckle and then starts
clotheslining Mack. Shannon nails Alan with a from the top rope with a bicycle
kick. Wicked cool. Shannon sets up Alan on the top turnbuckle and turns around
into a Superkick from Mack. Shannon's sitting in the corner and Alan is face
down on top of him and Mack dropkicks both men. Alan low blows Mack and pins
him at 8:58. The grade is an A.
The crowd was not happy with that ending! Daze comes out and drives Alan into the mat. The lights go out, and Chris
Jericho's music plays, and he hits the ring and starts swinging a chair on everyone
and starts to target Sunny. The lights go out again, and Kenny Omega's music
plays, and he comes out and attacks Jericho and beats him down. Alan attacks
Kenny, and that starts a chain reaction where everyone in the back comes out to
get some. The good guys chase out the bad guys, and then the bad guys try to
storm the ring, the good guys beat back the bad guys again, but Angels is
isolated in the middle of the good guys. Kenny says that he's willing to accept
that Alan attacking him was a mistake and asks the crowd if he should accept
Alan apologies and the crowd boos Alan. Kenny tells everyone to kick Alan's
ass. Alan takes everyone's moves ending with Kenny destroying Alan, see the video if you haven't already.
Kenny cuts a promo on Jericho and the fact that SHW got over 1k.
There
have been some questions about how the show ended, and in my opinion, as a soft
touch hack, it's not the end of the world. Most of the people who were at the
show didn't have a problem with it. Angels is still the champ, and everyone is
still gunning for him.
