Hardcore Hell is set to take place tomorrow night at the Landmark Arena for the 22nd consecutive year. Anarchy is getting the show in just under the wire, as the traditional spring extravaganza, the longest running annual show title in independent wrestling dating back to NCW in 1999, was canceled due to the pandemic.
Their November event, Purgatory, was a remarkably great go home show. Anarchy normally has four shows minimum to set up a major show but 2020 has not been a normal year for pro wrestling or anything else. Anarchy got the job done in one night and did it superbly, despite last minute adjustments due to the injury that shelved number one heavyweight title contender Billy Buck.
Hardcore Hell certainly has all the earmarks of Anarchy’s show of the year. It’s rich in stories and loaded with potential great matches.
Bell time is 8 pm and the show will be available live as on iPPV on FITE TV.
It seemed to me a preview was in order...
Alex Kane vs. Todd Sexton
There’s a lot of intrigue surrounding this one. Kane debuted at Purgatory with a win over top tier talent in current SHW Champion David Ali. Sexton immediately challenged Kane to a clash of technicians at Hardcore Hell. Kane has something to prove. He got over well enough at Purgatory but it didn’t strike as the ideal way to present him, nor was it one of his better matches. Sexton, who was coming off a brief run with the Heritage title as a babyface, returned to Landmark two weeks ago as the uber heel of Southern Fried Championship Wrestling. The SFCW show was mainly attended by Anarchy fans. How will they react to Sexton tomorrow night? How is he going to react to the situation?
Will Kaution vs. Spi-ral vs. Kevin Ryan
All three made excellent showings in the Ultimate Anarchy match in October. Kaution returned after being out of the ring during the pandemic and received an astounding ovation. He went on to defeat Brian Blaze at Purgatory. Spi-ral came within an eyelash of winning Ultimate Anarchy, thus earning a shot at TV Champion Tyler Cullprett at Purgatory where he suffered his first singles loss as an Anarchy competitor. Ryan has a losing record at Anarchy and hasn’t endeared himself to the Anarchy fans, but the former SHW Champion has displayed daredevil aerial skill and showed no a ton of intestinal fortitude against MLW’s Kevin Ku at ACTION Wrestling. Look for something spectacular here.
Anarchy TV Title Match: Champion Tyler Cullprett vs. Nick Halen
In October, Halen paid Anarchy a visit for the first time in 15 years, Cullpett came to the ring, totally belittled and disrespected Nick and ate a superkick from him. Halen’s win over Ryan last month showed that while he may not have been an active competitor, he’s definitely been training. Cullprett attacked Halen after the match and said he accepted his challenge. This has the potential of being a really good match. Both are used to facing major size disadvantages which won’t be a problem. What will be a problem for Halen is Cullprett's skullduggery.
Landmark Heritage Champion Scott Mayson vs. Azrael
A highly anticipated match that was developed out of thin air at Purgatory. Mayson is doing the best work of his career. He beat up a jabroni stand-in for former NWA Wildside/Anarchy standout “Gabriel” Chad Parham, prompting an appearance by Azrael, Gabriel’s partner in the legendary Lost Boys team. This will be Azrael’s first Anarchy match since September 2019, when he defeated Stryknyn in a body bag match. Win, lose or draw, Mayson is in for a hellfire beating at Hardcore Hell.
Anarchy Tag Team Title Match: Champions Ben Buchanan & Griff Garrison vs. Matt Hankins & a Mystery Partner named by Commissioner Bull Buchanan
In a wildly unpredictable turn of events, Ben, whose confidence and ego have been growing by leaps and bounds, demanded more competition. Hankins demanded a title rematch for Undeniable. With a twist on the wisdom of Solomon, Commissioner Bull granted both wishes, except Undeniable would be Hankins and a partner of his choosing. Hankins then got in Ben’s ear during the main event. WTF was going on there? I cannot wait to see how this plays out. A little birdie hinted that Ben’s pick will be one nobody would have imagined.
Anarchy Heavyweight Title Match: Champion Shane Marx (with Matt Hankins) vs. Logan Creed
Champion vs the longest reigning champion in Anarchy history, two of the top five wrestlers in the state meet for only the second time. Creed won their first match on July 4, 2017 at PCW and has waited over 500 days for another shot at the title. Creed returned to Anarchy in October as part of Hankins squad...or so it appeared. At the conclusion of Purgatory, Creed made it clear to Hankins he was back for one thing and one thing only. Any can happen and probably will with Hankins at ringside. Anarchy’s final match of the year has match of the year potential.
In addition…
Adrian Hawkins appeared via video at Purgatory to dispute Hankins’ claim that Undenaible was Anarchy. Hawkins vs. Brain Blaze perhaps???...A special video will honor the scheduled inductees fpr the Landmark Hall of Fame (Murder One, Kory Chavis, Todd Sexton and this writer).
