From SVW:
Southern Violence and Wrestling presented “There Will Be Blood at Southern Brewing Company in Athens Ga on January 9, 2021.
This was an outdoor event with an earlier bell time. Even though temperatures reached 37 degrees after the sun went down, 170 were in attendance, and rowdy as ever.
The Pre-Show dark match featured an intergender war between Selina Rose and Garuda. This match followed a hot pace. Both competitors delivered brutal chops and hit some big moves. Selina finally got the best of Garuda when Garuda got arrogant and careless. The Athens crowd was behind Selina the whole time and made it very apparent that she was welcome back any time.
The opening match of the main card saw Shane Mako along with Scene Nick defeat Nitrus in a back and forth battle. Post match, Scene Nick stated he had a surprise and would be debuting a new client at the next show.
The next match saw newcomer Vincent Only teaming with Bobby D to take on FAME members Jamie Holmes and Machine. Holmes had Only in a submission and just when it appeared Bobby D was going to throw in the towel, he instead opted for a steel chair to the back of Holmes, causing the DQ. Post match saw Bobby D cut another “pipe bomb” promo, causing SVW owner Dave Hadden to indefinitely suspend Bobby, instructing that his microphone be cut off.
Next up, Tyler Graves faced the debuting Jacob Ryan. Ryan, did not make any friends in Athens and had a mean streak a mile wide on display. Graves eventually put Ryan away for the 123 to the relief of the crowd.
The next match saw FAME members Ryan Murdoch and “The Serpent Assassin” Brandon Whatley take on fan favorites The Frat Party (Bryce Cannon, Eddie Honcho, with Kenneth Beckner) The bad blood between FAME and The Frats was on full display. The fight spilled to the floor where Murdoch tossed Beckner clear into the 2nd row. A miscue between Murdoch and Whatley caused a twisted tea to be exploded over Murdoch’s head. Eventually the last laugh belonged to FAME as they stopped the momentum of the Frats and became the new SVW tag team champion. Post match, Cannon grabbed the mic and challenged FAME to finish this at the next show in a Milledge Avenue street fight. The crowd strongly approved with the notion. (Note: Milledge Avenue is the street in Athens, most notable for the presence of a large number of fraternity and sorority houses.
FAME member Vary Morales was out next flanked by his stablemates, However Morales indicated that he wanted this one fair and square. FAME reluctantly sulked to the back.
Morales was faced off with Carolina standout, “Tie Dye Sunrise” James Johnson. This match has to be seen to be believed when it premieres on FITE TV. The match had everything from crisp chain wrestling to some truly death defying dives on the cold hard Georgia clay from the ring.
Morales eventually put away Johnson, but it was obvious that Johnson had earned the respect of not only the SVW fans, but also from Morales.
The next match was to be Charlie Anarchy vs SVW Heavyweight Champion Axel Rod. However, after the Anarchy’s entrance, SVW owner and FAME leader, Dave Hadden appeared onstage and said that since Anarchy felt it was appropriate to attack the champ last month, putting him through a table, he was canceling the scheduled title defense, and had given Axel the night off. He said that SVW did not reward bad behavior. He said that he had found a special replacement, and said Athens was about to witness a human sacrifice. He introduced “The Heretic” Apollyon as Anarchy’s opponent. Apollyon’s demonic appearance seemed to throw Anarchy for a moment, but ultimately, he was able to finish off FAME’s hired assassin. Hadden entered the ring and was soon in Anarchy’s grasp. Anarchy teased punching out the boss as FAME ran down and surrounded the ring. Anarchy let Hadden go and was preparing to fight. Suddenly Justin Legend’s music hits and the crowd was stunned to see Legend make his way to the ring. He stood shoulder to shoulder alongside Anarchy. He called Hadden a shitbird, and said he was there on behalf of the SVW board of directors. There has been a vote of no confidence placed on Hadden as Owner, due to his actions on behalf of FAME. Legend said that vote resulted in his appointment as SVW Commissioner, and therefore was now the sole matchmaking authority. He said at the next show, the games were over, and demanded Hadden put together a team to represent FAME to face a team of his choosing to represent SVW in the first ever Killing Fields Cage match. Legend named Charlie Anarchy as the first member and team captain of team SVW.
Finally, in the main event. Austin Towers put his SVW Hoss Fight Championship on the line against the “Big F’n Deal” Geter. This was truly a hoss battle for the ages, that saw the two monsters throwing everything they had at each other. Geter managed to put Towers in more trouble than he has been in since his arrival in SVW. Towers showed everyone why his stock is on the rise, after fighting back and putting Geter flat on his back for the pin after a huge flying boot to the face. Towers stood tall holding the Hoss Fight title high, daring anyone to come and take it to end the show.
Southern Violence And Wrestling will return on Saturday, March 13th to The Southern Brewing Company in Athens, Georgia at 5PM.
