I don’t know if any of these will ever come to fruition. They’re more of wishful thinking involving some of the best and worst our state has to offer. A lot of matchups that have never taken place. Some I think that would just be cool. A few to push wrestlers to their next level.
1. Krule and Brooklyn vs Butcher and ButcHer
Is it possible, yes. Probable, no. Would you pay to see it, definitely. I just think this is a fun idea and who hates fun?
2. AC Mack vs Najasism
No one does presentations better than Naja. No one does promos better than Mack. Mack, an A4 graduate, is accustomed to the style that Naja employs. I’m not looking forward to the matches however I’m waiting to see how the internet is set ablaze by two of the greatest showmen the state has to offer. These were the two highest graded MVPs Mack and Action at 92 against Naja and PCW at 90. This would also be a battle between my vote for Georgia wrestler of the year vs Georgia performer of the year.
3. Jaden Newman vs Zack Mosley
I split the youth into separate states and rivalries because they’re all capable of carrying any card in different ways. I’m not the biggest Jaden fan but he’s undeniably one of the biggest players in the volunteer state. Zack is just as physically impressive and I could see multiple 30 minute draws between the two. I also think this gives both men to elevate their stock as legitimate 5 star bout machines.
4. Duncan Mitchell vs Trey Havoc
This is inevitable. No two wrestlers have benefited more from SSP than Mitchell and Havoc. One triumphant baby face; an egotistical man claiming to be 24k of gold. Can Duncan’s jiu jitsu background take down the big man from North Carolina that survived even the likes of Geter? The SSP MVP was the most controversial and now they have a chance to fight about it.
5. Dave Stage vs Austin Towers
I hinted at this in my first article. This is a bonafide big man main event rivalry. Stage is a new face in Georgia wrestling but he’s not just another meathead. He had an impressive outing at MEW against Jonathan Gresham. Austin Towers is Austin Towers and this would be the crown jewel in his impressive run at SVW so far. Stage + Towers = $$$
6. Hunter Drake vs Cornelious Pepperbottom
I would hope most of my readers know Hunter Drake. Hunter has an unorthodox look to match his fast pace style and it leaves room for improvement in character and promos. I believe CPB is the perfect foil. He lacks the arsenal that Drake possesses but their contrast could bring out the best in each other.
7. Rico Gonzalez, Cosmo Martinez, and Siomara vs Angelica Risk and Body Guy University
Mucha Lucha Atlanta is an island unto itself and I feel like BGU has the boat to cross the moat. Is there anyone more visually despicable than BGU? Cosmo is already a Georgia mainstay so the former Face 2 Face champion needs no introduction. There aren’t a lot of women’s feuds in the state but I believe Angelica is one of the top 6 women wrestlers now and Siomara has a style that not a lot of wrestlers can replicate so this could be very unique. Plus honestly truthfully who doesn’t like Rico Gonzalez? He’s talented, likable, and an energetic presence on a show.
8. Renegade Twins vs Nina Monet and Woad
This could be the craziest cat fight Georgia has ever seen. The twins are on a face track to stardom and Nina and Woad represent some of the best female wrestlers this state has ever had. It’s potential vs proven one of my favorite mixes.
9. Bryce Cannon vs Dominic Stuckey
You know who’s easy to hate? Bryce Cannon. You know who’s easy to like? Dominic Stuckey. The two have wrestled in the sweltering summer heat in Macon on a cold night in Canton and everywhere in between. (Based on reports by my count Cannon is 2-1-1 over Stuckey in 2022) I always mention two things: Bryce needing a legitimate feud for his Platinum State’s championship and Dominic never being in feuds since leaving WrestleMerica. Here’s a remedy to both. They tend to work famously together. Maybe their rivalry can make each other famous.
10. Proc Johnston vs Shane Marx
I’m just waiting for that moment that Proc breaks out. He sometimes feels lost in the shuffle amongst Georgia’s plethora of talent 30 and below. This may be an offshoot of Undeniable vs Program but I think Shane is the perfect opponent to give that last push to Johnston.
11. Aaron Dallas vs Hunter James
Two of the best looking talents in Georgia wrestling. I would rate them both as legitimate blue chip prospects. Dallas has done great work so far for Pro South and other Alabama promotions. Hunter James has already proven so much in his young career and is destined for bigger and better things. It would be great to see this match up now before it’s on ppv.
12. Chip Day vs Spi-Ral
I hate that Spi-Ral doesn’t wrestle more because he’s an outstanding talent and one of a few legitimate bad asses in Georgia wrestling. Chip Day has been the king of kicks for as long as I can remember. I’m normally against mma inspired gimmicks because some guys lack legitimate training but these are two actual martial artists who could light up anyone.
13. Fry Daddy vs O’Shay Edwards
Fry has been WrestleMerica’s Superman since 2019 and although he’s delivered in multiple bouts he has yet to have a true feud outside of the tedious never ending story that is Ryan North. It’s time for WrestleMerica to meet Doomsday in the form of O’Shay Edwards. Edwards could be really detrimental for anyone’s health if he wanted to. It’s simple: can the hero slay the big bad kaiju.
14. Sean Legacy vs Carlie Bravo
Carlie just makes everything better. He has one of the most made for TV looks of any wrestler around. Someone else I can say the exact same thing about is Sean Legacy. I just feel like they could create magic the way they have with others.
15. Adam Priest vs Shoot Taylor
We got a slight taste at MEW at the potential of this rivalry and boy was it a delectable combination. These are two of the 10 best technical wrestlers the state has to offer. I see a Georgia version of Benoit vs Angle between this gentleman.
16. Chip Skyler vs Axel Foley
The mad man of Athens vs the reckless upstart. This is easily the most violent arrangement on my list. No one bleeds SVW more than Foley and no young gun is willing to bleed more than Skyler. SVW could receive some life from a DWA invasion.
17. Crystal Rose vs Jazzy Yang
Jazzy has been great value in Athens so far but for my money no woman has carried the load of wrestling longer or better than Mrs. Crystal Rose. To be the best you have to beat the best. This doesn’t have to be a passing of the torch but sooner or later every lady worth their salt has to survive Crazy Crystal. I’ve seen a few fall and fail against her. I don't think Jazzy will be so unlucky.
18. Knull vs Ehren Black
I’m probably a bigger Ehren Black fan than most are. He’s a really good talent and despite some limitations such as his size (all wrestlers have limitations) he has had a number of good matches under the radar. Ehren does his best work with other big men. Knull is very new to the scene and a lot may not know him but if GIPW was smart they would secure his Sundays asap. Similar to Dave vs Towers this could be a legitimate multi month main event affair.
19. Washington Bullets vs Top Team
20. Dani Jordan vs Kiah Dream
The Mean girl didn’t do as much in 2022 as other years but in my opinion she is the best women’s wrestler in the state. So what if her challenger came from out of state. Dream has made a handful appearances in the Peach State and I believe she would be right at home facing one of the states best.
21. Work Horsemen vs All-Star $pecial
A man can dream can’t he? Anthony’s recent Action championship win gives me hope he’s in Georgia for the long hopefully that will include quality time with long time teammate J.D. Drake. For my money and a lot of people’s money, if you ask merch statistics, the best two man team in Georgia is AS$. Huckaby is no stranger to headline feuds (Joe Black anybody?) but it would be interesting to see how Hanson navigates significantly deeper waters.
22, North Stars vs All-Stars
Ryan North seems to be in an endless feud with every baby face that breathes at WrestleMerica. It’s about time there’s a line in the sand and a war to settle the score. I’m not sure who the WrestleMerica All-Star team would be(Frye, Judas, hopefully Stuckey, and maybe a return to Tyson Dean) against some of history’s most notorious North Stars Alder, Towers, and Anthony would be great headliners.
23. Joe Black vs Georgia Wrestling
There’s a lot of buzz around if Joe is going to step away from wrestling. Let’s say that’s the case, what better way to go out than a retirement tour. No I don’t mean like Kobe in 2016 I’m thinking more Punisher kills the Marvel Universe. Joe beating all of the top stars and rising talents around the state. He should also win the Anarchy, SVW, BattleSlam, GIPW, SFCW, and VPW championship akin to Thanos completing the infinity gauntlet. (These are not the 6 most important titles but they represent areas of wrestling significance either geographically or historically). He can become the Kami of Combat the God of Georgia wrestling and in the end when he’s ready to retire there will be 6 bonafide stars ready to be made by defeating him.
Sorry tag teams there's only a handful of really good ones such as Top Team, All Star $pecial, Exotic Youth, Washington Bullets and Happy Madness so mixing any of the 5 together wouldn't be a bold prediction. So I only went with one mixture.
There are a lot more talented wrestlers in the state but I wanted to keep the list to 23. This fun little list initially started with small harmless ideas like Southern Georgia invades GWH or Murder 1 vs Dominic Stuckey in the Iceberg Bowl. I hope you enjoyed it. Also I’ll never hope for the splitting of a tag team that fruit is just too low.
