Boys and Girls Club, Monroe, Ga.
Early start time tonight, I came in right after the National Anthem played. Right at 200 +/-
The Grapplers come out with manager Xander Seabolt to issue
an apology to Jaden Vain for the fireball to the face that Vain took at the
last show. Half hearted at best. Mic problems, Stryk Nyn sneaks in from behind
when they switch out mics. Stryk gets some shots in, but gets hit in the head
with a belt. Alex Kytel rushes the ring, he gets some shots in, but Seabolt
hits him in the ribs with the tennis racket. Beat down commences until, the ref
squad and Bill Behrens run to the ring. Behrens orders them to stop or they’re
fired. They do so, but the damage is done: Stryk is able to walk unassisted but
Kytel needs help to the back.
Behrens in the ring and brings out Todd Sexton. Sexton is
wearing a “Terry ain’t wearing no damn mouthpiece” Tshirt. Memoriam for Jamin
Pugh, aka Jay Briscoe, who died last week and his two daughters who were
severely injured. Several stories told. Sexton brings out the locker room for a
10 gun-shot salute. Tonight’s show is dedicated to Jay Briscoe.
Rick Richards is your ring announcer. The referees are Dee
Byers, David Weakley, Brandon Todd, and Jynnyfyr Wynns. Adam Vance is handling
the video commentary duties.
1: Representing JBE International: Hunter James and Xavier
Reyes with Triston Michaels (c) vs. Luka Daniels and Matt Sells.
Michaels in Byers face when they enter the ring. James has
his GWH Trophy for best Male Performer in hand. Daniels gets a pop; Sells runs
around the crowd, slapping hands and taking selfies. JBE attack before the
bell, knocking Daniels to the floor and punishing Sells in the ring. Sells
responds and rat traps James 5 times and asks the crowd if they want more:
James’s head pounds the canvas 14 more times. Daniels in; tons of bad blood
here with his former teammate James. Reyes in, and he throws Daniels through
the turnbuckles and into the ring post. Heat on Daniels and, of course, Triston
has to get some cheap shots in. Double suplex for a near fall. Thunderous chop
by James; that reverberated around the building.
James wants a brain buster, Daniels blocks it and tags in
Sells, who goes off on the tag champs, hitting a stunner for a near fall on
James. Daniels and Sells, set up for a Hart Attack on James, Reyes grabs the
leg of Sells and pulls him out of the ring and throws him into the barricade.
JBE set Daniels up for a Doomsday Device and Daniels lands HARD! Winners via
pin fall at 8:47: JBE International.
Reyes has the mic and he’s pissed from what happened at the
last show where he says that Happy Madness interfered with his match with
Judas, costing him the win. They vow revenge. Triston is yelling at SFCW owner
David Manders, there’s more bad blood there.
2: Stephen Tha Wall vs. Aaron Dallas.
Big pop for the Blue-Collar Rock Star Dallas. A battle of
flowing locks: Tha Wall has the obvious height advantage and he uses that in
the early minutes, but misses a Stinger Splash. He recovers and catches Dallas
mid-air and plants him with a back breaker over the knee. Dallas tries to fire
up but Tha Wall plants him with a boot to the face. Tha Wall misses with a
lariat and Dallas rebounds off the ropes, kicking Tha Wall in the head and
pinning him at 3:05.
3: Marvelous Michael Stevens vs. Will Kaution.
A beautiful looking Stinger Splash by Kaution, follows it up
with a cross body on Marv in the corner. Kaution up top, Marv catches him and
dumps him onto the floor. Marv targeting the back of Kaution. Kaution charges
at Marv, he drags the ropes down and Kaution hits the floor again. Reverse bear
hug by Marv, Kaution fights out of it and tees off on Marv. Pin attempt by
Kaution, Marv kicks him off and Kaution goes face first into the turnbuckle. Marv
tries to dump Kaution out of the ring again, Kaution is able to jump up to the
top turnbuckle and drop the flying elbow on Marv for the win at 8:25.
Kaution on the mic and says he wants a shot at the SFCW
championship. Bill Behrens comes out; he wanted to have this discussion in the
back. Kaution blames Billy Buck for his loss and wants another shot at CT Keys.
Behrens says that there are other people in line but offers a solution: Face
Billy Buck at the next show to determine who will face Carlie Bravo for the
Classics title. Then maybe, Kaution will get back in line. Still some mic
issues from the usually reliable sound system of SFCW.
4: Brandon Whatley vs. Alex Kytel.
Impressive entrance for Whatley, I believe it’s his SFCW
debut. Kytel’s selling the effects from the beat down from the beginning of the
night with taped up ribs. Whatley has the mic and runs down Kytel and wants some
actual competition. Kytel gets in Whatley’s face and Whatley says so be it and
knocks Kytel down and starts striking and throwing Kytel around the ring. Whatley
pounds at the wrapped ribs of Kytel and punts him out of the ring. Stryk Nyn
comes out and gives Kytel a pep talk and Kytel goes off on Whatley, but Whatley
kicks Kytel in the ribs again to stop that. Whatley’s overconfident though: he
turns his attention away from Kytel for a split second and Kytel rolls him up
for the win at 4:04.
Stryk raises the hand of Kytel, Whatley hits Stryk from
behind with the nunchucks. Whatley goes for Kytel again abut Stryk spears him
out of the ring. Stryk has the mic: In two weeks, it will be Stryk and Kytel
vs. the Grapplers in a Mosh Pit Match.
Intermission.
5: Proc “The Croc” Johnston vs. Mikael Judas.
This match is what sold me on coming tonight, I can’t resist
a Hoss fight. Huge match for Proc’s career: he’s mouthing off to Judas and
shoves the chest. Judas kicks him down and sets him in the corner for the coast
to coast kick. The crowd loved that. Proc throwing right hands, then tries a
couple of shoulder tackles. Judas picks him up and one throw-away slam later,
Proc’s on the floor. Judas follows, but Proc sends him into the barricades.
Proc sends Judas into a ring post and targets the arm. Arm drag over the top
rope then a football tackle in the corner for Proc. Judas tries to goozle; Proc
knocks the arm down and spine busters Judas. Proc sets up and hits a huge
lariat and goes for the pins, but Judas had rolled out of the ring. Proc goes
out and rolls Judas into the ring and just misses the 3-count. Proc setting up
in the corner, begging to Judas to get up, Judas slowly does. Judas blocks the
rushing Proc and chokeslams him for the win at 6:01.
One of my typical complaints about matches is that they run
too long. Not the case here. In fact, I wouldn’t have minded a few more minutes
of this.
Judas stands over the body of Proc and pulls him up. Judas
offers the fist and Proc bumps the fist and rolls out of the ring. Judas stands
tall in the ring. Judas stands by the entrance way and music plays and CT Keys
comes out and stares off with Judas. Judas wants that title that Keys is
carrying around but the refs come out to separate them before anything can
happen. Keys heads to the ring with a CT Sucks following him as Judas leaves to
the locker room.
6: SFCW Champion CT Keys and Hunter Knott vs. Jacob Ashworth
and Najasism.
I think Knott got more boos than Keys. Knot has the mic and
says that he has a message for Keys from Carlie Bravo. Bravo can’t be there to
tag with Keys, so Knott will substitute. Keys warns Knot not to screw this up. Pops
for Ashworth and Naja.
Knott points his finger at Naja, Naja grabs and twists. Naja’s
flying all over the place, Knott’s knotted up. Ashworth in. Marcus Eriks comes
out from the back to watch the match. In the ring, Knott is able to make the
tag to Keys and he and Naja face off. Keys shoves Naja down, Naja kicks Keys in
the side of the head. Naja avoids Keys’ power moves and hits some up-tempo
shots. Keys powers through and plants Naja. Keys looks to give Naja the Last
Ride, Naja twists out of it and sends Keys to the floor, then dives on him. The
crowd popped for that. Ashworth in, he hits some power moves, but Knott grabs
the leg to allow Keys to attack. Heat on Ashworth.
Not sure what’s going on with Knott ringside, a couple of
the security guys are checking on him. Knott is able to get some cheap shots in
on Ashworth and prevent Ashworth from making the hot tag to Naja. Ashworth
hulks up, but Keys clips the knee of Ashworth to stop that. Ashworth does a
Brett Hart in the corner but turns around and lays out Keys with a lariat. Both
men down and Ashworth makes the tag. Naja leaps in but Keys catches him. Naja
twists out and is able to cover Keys for a near fall. Naja super kicks Knott of
the apron and gives Keys the 10 punches of Doom. Keys turns Naja inside out
with a lariat and tags in Knott. Knott reaches for Naja, Naja puts Knott into
an arm submission. Ashworth prevents Keys from coming into the ring and Knott
taps at 15:07.
It turns out that Knott had separated his shoulder.
Naja has the mic. Naja asks why the king is running away
from him and wants Keys to put the title on the line against him. Keys tells
him hell no and starts walking away. A you scared chant brings him back
ringside. The mic cut off but it looks like he accepted the challenge and that
should happen at the next show in two weeks.
Main Event: I Quit match: Nick Halen vs Adrian Hawkins with
Bobby Moore as the special referee.
All signs are pointing that this will be the end of the
civil war between the Approved members, we’ll see if that’s the actual case.
Moore lays out the rules for the crowd and tells them to come out. Halen’s
coming off an award winning year, winning several awards at the GWH Gala the
previous night. Moore tells them that there are no rules but he wants a
straight fight, everyone agrees. Halen rips the Approved t-shirt off of Hawkins
and the fight begins and quickly spills to the floor. Moore warns them about
choking and biting, again wanting a straight fight. Back out on the floor,
Halen slams Hawkins across the barricade. Hawking rushes at Halen who ducks and
Hawkins hits the ring post.
Halen targets the injured arm. Halen uses the remnant of the
shirt to choke Hawkins, Hawkins gives him a low blow. Hawkins has the ring
bell, Moore takes it away. Sharpshooter by Hawkins, Halen fights out of it.
Halen with a submission, Hawkins doesn’t quit. Cross face by Halen, the crowd
rallies to Hawkins. Hawkins gets to his feet and they fall out of the ring.
They are fighting near the announce table, Halen gets his
head slammed on it. Hawkins grabs a chair. Moore doesn’t want that and tries to
get Hawkins in the ring. In the mean time, Halen grabs a chair from under the
ring and jabs it into the gut of Hawkins. Moore is pissed at both of them for
using weapons. Halen and Hawkins fight along the barricade, Halen gives him a
low blow. Halen drops Hawkins across the announce table. Halen climbs up on the
table, looking for a back body drop onto the floor. Hawkins fights it and
reverses it and both men crash to the floor. Todd Sexton’s out watching the
action now. Moore tosses both men into the ring and asks them if they want to
quit, they both say no and Moore tells them to get up and fight. The mic keeps
cutting in and out.
They use each other
to get to their knees and then feet, throwing punches along the way. Hawkins
wants an un-prettier, but Ahlen shoves him into the turnbuckles. Hawkins gets
Halen in the sharp shooter, Moore is checking on Halen, he says no. Halen tries
to roll through but Hawkins rolls it back. Moore checks on Halen, Halen grabs
Moore and pulls him on top of Hawkins. Halen grabs the mic and hits Hawkins in
the head with it and then shoves Moore out of the ring. Halen applies the cross
face and Moore brings a chair into the ring, almost losing his temper and seriously
thinking about using the chair on Halen. Halen looks scared, but Moore decides
against using the chair and Halen locks the cross face back on Hawkins. Moore
is asking Hawkins if he wants to quite but the mic’s not working. Moore calls
the match at 18:58, saying that he heard Hawkins say that he quit.
Hawkins says that he
didn’t quit, Moore says that he heard him say it and want Halen and Hawkins to
shake hands. Hawkins grudgingly offers his hand; Halen gives him the middle
finger and leaves the ring. Hawkins is still saying that he didn’t quit, the
mic wasn’t working when it happened. It now works and Hawkins wasn’t happy.
Moore throws his hands up in frustration and leaves, Hawkins soon follows.
Final Thoughts:
You didn’t think about the mic until you needed the mic.
A lot of people were worked on that.
Don’t try this at home, kids! Alex Kytel, Hunter Knott,
and Luca Daniels all had some form of injury tonight. Speedy recoveries to all.
Several wrestlers were able to double shot tonight with
the GCW show in Buckhead.
Fantastic show tonight, IMO. I do worry that the economy
is starting to catch up with the promotions, though. Will have to see how
things trend across the promotions.
