UWF Arena, Colbert, Ga.
UWF’s big show, the culmination of the Ultimate Roulette
series that I covered in one of my Predictions sure to be wrong videos and boy was
I wrong on a bunch of those.
I counted 85 at bell time. The place is packed out and there
might be more behind me as SRO.
Billy bell brings out the UWF Commissioner Adrian Locklear aka
Pops. He comes out holding two title belts. These are the new tag titles. The
winners of the tag team battle royal will become the title holders. He
announces the new ring announcer: Grace Todd and she announces the first match.
1: The Radical DC Washington vs. The Unstoppable Jacob
Ashworth. Ref is Slim.
Big pop for Ashworth. DC’s on the mic: this is Jacob’s lucky
day, as he is a WINO: wrestler in name only. DC’s going to make the WINO’s
inclusive. New clause in his contract, he can invoke WINO rules where appropriate.
The rules are: there will be a 5-minute limit. (The crowd is doing their best
to drown out DC). 5-second outside the ring count. No top rope maneuvers, no punches or chops. Ashworth
knows the rules, grabs the contract, rips it up, and the match starts.
DC’s been taking tips about making speeches from the big
guy, this was long and rambling.
If DC thought that these rules might put a halt to Ashworth’s
onslaught, he was mistaken as Ashworth out wrestles DC in the opening minutes. He
even breaks out a drop kick. Jacob rushes at DC in the corner and DC moves out
of the way. DC spears Jacob. DC goes to use his tie, Slim grabs it, DC punches
Jacob behind Slim’s back. Jacob retaliates with a punch and Slim sees that
punch so he DQ’s Ashworth at 3:48.
Jacob goes to beat on DC, but 2 guys run out from the back
and attack Jacob, Aleksy Lev and Pat Roach. They beat down on Jacob. Luka Daniels runs out
to help Jacob, he gets some shots in but that doesn’t last long. DC calls this
the Congress. Big Andy comes out and that scares off The Congress. Daniels on
the mic and makes the challenge to Lev and ? for a tag match. Commissioner Pops
throws some insults DC’s way and orders the match to happen
2. The Congress (Lev and Pat Roach) vs. Luka Daniels and Big
Andy.
Both teams have a big man and a small man, don’t know
anything about>. Daniels schools Lev in the early going and tags in the big
man for a big pop. Roach gets in the ring and tries to cause a distraction to
help Lev, doesn’t work. Daniels in and Lev rakes the eyes and tags in Roach,
and he punishes Daniels. Lev and DC get some shots in behind the ref’s back. The
crowd chanting for Luca, but he can’t get anything going. Hope spot for Luka and
he makes the tag. Andy throwing elbows to everyone, and > gets knocked out
of the ring. Daniels sets up Lev for Big Andy’s splash and it’s over for Lev at
7:49.
The Congress got adjourned for this match. Andy’s on the mic,
he and Luka are now a tag team and enter themselves into the battle royal and they
want to happen right now.
The Grapplers with Zander Seabolt come out. Seabolt reminds
Andy of some past history he had with the Grapplers. Commish tells Seabolt to
shut up and we have the match.
3: Tag team battle royal: If one partner is eliminated, both
are out. The final two teams will have a tag match. 16 people, so 8 teams. Daniels
and Big Andy, The Grapplers, Justin Sane and Dynamic Dexter, Jaden Vain and Eli
Smiles, The After School Special, Mavith and JG, Eddie and Zeke, and Wraith and
Chaos.
Total chaos happening here. A bunch of guys try to get Andy
out, doesn’t work the first time but the second time is the charm. Both
grapplers out but the refs didn’t see it. More people get tossed. Justin Sane’s
out, but Dexter’s still in. The grapplers are handing out eye pokes like issues
of The Watchtower. Dexter finally out. Down to Jaden Vain and Eli Smiles and
the Grapplers at 6:30. The match resets to a regular tag match for the titles.
4: The Grapplers with Xander Seabolt vs. Jaden Vain and Eli
Smiles for the UWF Tag Team Championship.
Hugs start the match with the crowd jeering the Grapplers
and cheering Vain and Smiles. Smiles and one of the Grapplers to tie up and Smiles
eye pokes him. Vain gets in on the action with an eye poke to the other Grappler.
Things settle down a bit, but one of the Grapplers gets an eye poke in on Vain
to start the heat on Vain. A Grappler misses a top rope move for a hope spot
and hot tag. All 4 men in the ring, and Vain and Smiles try to do the 10
Punches of Doom but get shoved off and they sandwich Ref Todd. Seabolt tries to
hand off his tennis racket but that gets intercepted by Vain who uses the
racket on one of the Grapplers, but hits Smiles by accident when the other Grappler
ducks out of the way. Vain gets thrown out of the ring and the Grapplers pin
Smiles at 6:34. And new UWF Tag Team Champions: The Grapplers with Xander
Seabolt.
This is the 4th set of tag titles for The
Grapplers; they also have the Anarchy, NCW, and GCW titles
Seabolt comes back out to the ring bringing out Austin
Thorne and Triston Michaels. Seabolt rehashes some past misdeeds involving
Triston. Seabolt apologizes to Triston and offers some recompense. Seabolt
offers to give Triston Austin’s contract and to seal it with a hand shake.
Triston agrees and they shake and this leads to the finals of the Ultimate Roulette
where the loser gets fired.
6: Hot Topic Austin Thorne with Triston Michaels vs. Alex
Kytel.
Fists start flying off the bell, Kytel tries to end things
early with a victory roll. Action spills to the floor, they are beating the
snot out of each other. Thorne catches Kytel coming back into the ring. Triston
get some cheap shots in when the ref’s back is turned. A nice looking snap
suplex by Thorne for a near fall. Thorne has improved by leaps and bounds with
his in-ring personality, he’s really working his facial expressions and
interactions with the crowd. Kytel tries for a sunset flip but almost gets
pinned instead. Kytel shows Thorne how to do a chop. Thorne turns Kytel inside
out with a lariat.
Things slow down with Thorne working the head of Kytel. Kytel
almost school boys Thorne and hits him with a knee to leave both men down.
Kytel up first and is on fire, hitting Thorne with everything he can. Thorne
sets Kytel on the top turnbuckle, looking for a superplex, but that gets
blocked. Thorne knocked down and Kytel lands a splash for near fall. Thorne
catches Kytel and plants him with a falcon’s arrow neckbreaker and Kytel’s out
of the ring. Thorne urging Ref Slim to count Kytel out, he makes it back in. Thorne
with a sharpshooter, crowd urging him not to tap. Kytel makes the ropes, Thorne
reapplies it, but Kytel rolls through. Hurricanrana into a crossface for Kytel
brings Triston up on the apron. Slim goes get him off and Hunter James slides
in and knocks Kytel out. Thorne pins Kytel at 12:09 to win and Alex Kytel is
fired from UWF.
Intermission.
7: Curtis Coleman vs. Jimmy Jacobs.
The crowd hates Coleman, including some family members it
seems. Jacobs gets a big pop from the crowd. My first time seeing Jacobs live,
I believe. Coleman out muscles Jacobs a couple of times, Jacobs out wrestles
him. The crowd calling on Jacobs to break Coleman’s arm and he does his best to
oblige. This crowd is blood thirsty
tonight. Chop fest around the ring ends with a double chop by Jacobs and
Coleman rolls out of the ring. Jacobs goes for a baseball slide but Coleman
turns it into a STO. They fight some more and Coleman’s out of the ring, Jacob
flies over the top rope and lands on Coleman and almost takes out the front row
behind the barricades.
Jacobs wants to fly
from the top rope, Coleman catches and plants him for a near fall. More heat on
Jacobs, nice corner to corner drop kick by Coleman. Jacobs tries to fire up but
gets cut off. Jacobs gets thrown from the ring and Coleman follows, delivering
more blows and then a head first baseball slide onto Jacobs. Coleman has such deceptive
quickness with his kicks and strikes. Coleman lands a moonsault and another. He
goes for a third but Jacobs gets the knees up. Jacobs is fired up now, landing
several strikes and then a top-rope, whirling DDT for a near fall. Jacob rushes
at Coleman who puts up his boot. Jacobs rebounds and plants Coleman for a near
fall.
They are fighting up top, Coleman trying for a superplex, Jacobs
fights him off. Jacobs tries for the DDT again, but Coleman turns it into a
delayed vertical suplex for a near fall. Jacobs eats a clothesline from hell for
a near fall. Coleman tries for a DVD but Jacobs turns it into an inside cradle
for the win at 14:25.
Coleman attacks Jacobs afterwards and plants Jacobs with the
DVD/Falcon’s arrow to leave him lying in the ring.
8: Open Challenge Match: UWF Heritage Champion, the Absolute
Wunderkind Hunter James with Triston Michaels vs. ??
James has the mic and runs down the crowd. For one night only,
he’s offering an open challenge. Scott Mayson answers the call, huge pop from
the crowd. This is a continuation from an Anarchy storyline. Before the match
could begin, Michaels grabs the leg of Mayson, allowing James to place his boot
to the side of Mayson’s head, knocking him off the apron. James and Michaels
continue the attack including attacking the leg with the ref pleading for them
to get into the ring to start the match. Everyone in the ring, but Ref Todd is
checking on Mayson, who is favoring the leg. Mayson tells Todd to ring the damn
bell. The bell rings and James rushes at Mayson who greets him with a lariat
and Mayson pins James in 6 seconds. New UWF Heritage Champion: Scott Mayson.
Huge, huge pop from the crowd. Totally wasn’t expected at
all.
Triston has a wobbler in the ring with a still unconscious
James laying on the mat nearby. James comes to thinking he won, then the bad
news hits and he throws a wobbler with the crowd chanting you got beat at him. They
storm off to the back.
Commish Pops is back in the ring and promises some words
will be had with Seabolt and asks if the crowd is ready for the main event and,
of course, they are.
Main Event for the UWF Championship: Marcus Adams vs Nick
Halen (c). Ref is Slim.
Adams was my pick to be the loser in the Ultimate Roulette,
but he won and as a result he gets a shot at UWF Champion Nick Halen. Huge pop
for Halen with Nick chants from the crowd. Looks like Adams has a power
advantage based on the early minutes of the match: he throws Halen around after
some go-behinds. This is a heavy-hitting affair, it looks like Halen might have
lost his breath somewhere but he recovers. Looks like Halen hurt his knee off
of a move from the corner. Ref Slim is checking on Halen, Halen is game to continue
so Adams immediately goes for Halen’s leg. Halen is in a world of hurt but
still manages a monster chop to Adams.
More punishment to the leg of Halen, Adams is being
methodical in his attacks now. Halen trying to punch his way up, cuts cut off. Clothesline
in the corner but Halen gets his good leg up for the next time. Cut off again,
Adams puts Halen on the top turnbuckle. Halen firing away at the head of Adam
and bites the head. Halen flies from the turnbuckle and plants Adams for some
separation. Halen landing clotheslines, the third takes Adams off of his feet.
Atomic drop and another. Halen rushes at Adams, Adams redirects him into Slim
and everyone’s down and Slim falls out of the ring.
Adams gets a chair from ringside and brings it into the
ring. Chair shot to the gut of Halen and Adams picks him up and plants Halen
with a Sister Abigail onto the chair for the visual 3-count but no ref as Slim is
still out on the earlier collision. Adams is wondering where a ref is, and tries
to pick Halen up , but Halen is a pile of goo right now. Adams is mouthing off
to the crowd and again goes to pick up Halen who turns it into a inside cradle just
as Ref Todd runs out and Adams is pinned at 16:14. Still UWF Champion: Nick
Halen. And the crowd roars it’s approval while Adams is in disbelief.
The next UWF show will be on March 19th, back in
Colbert, Ga.
