I am dedicating this special spotlight edition to the memory of the late Joyce Grable. who passed away after a lengthy battle with cancer on September 29t at age 70 while living in a Hospice. Grable, a native of LaGrange, Georgia, was a legend throughout the NWA member promotions from the now-defunct Stampede Wrestling in Calgary, Championship Wrestling from Florida, Texas to Mid-Atlantic, and Georgia Championship Wrestling. Trained by WWE Hall of Famer The Fabulous Moolah, Grable held the first version of the NWA Women's World Tag Team Championships with the retired Vicki Williams, and Wendy Richter. another WWE Hall of Famer. Grable also held both the NWA Texas and United States Women's Championships, as well as being a inducted as member of the NWA Hall of Fame in 2012. (Note: the first incarnation of the NWA Women's World Tag Team Championships was used from 1952 until 1983, One year after, Vince McMahon, Jr. purchased the WWF from his father, the late Vince McMahon, Sr., the first version was deactivated and renamed as the WWF Women's World Tag Team Championships. Today's WWE Women's World also shares the lineage of the first incarnation of the NWA and WWF Women's World Tag Team titles). Grable also fought in Puerto Rico for WWC back in 1982, against rival, Velvet McIntyre. (at that time, WWC was an NWA member promotion until 1988).

One of the most famous Indy luchadoras in Mexico is Mitzy (or as they call her at the South of the Border's Indy Circuit Princesa Mitzy) heralded from the Federal District, in Mexico City, and trained by Indy Lucha legend Lapida.
La Princesa Guerrera (Warrior Princess) has shown her no-nonsense lucha and judo skills in the ring at many Indy Lucha promotion from Welcome to Mi Barrio, Arena Azteca Budokan, and currently in Halcon Lucha Libre. Keep look-out for this wonderful and very beautiful Aztec Warrior Princess.
Cassandra (also known as Princesa Sandy) is Mexico's answer to Mickie James, and WWE Hall of Famers Lita and Trish Stratus. A 27-year luchadora veteran, trained by Blue Demon, Jr., CMLL legend Ultimo Guerrero, El Hijo del Gladiador, and Moreno-Wagner Dynasty member El Oriental, Cassandra has fought the likes of Marcela, the now retired La Seductora and Miss Janeth, Diva Virtual, Amapola, Ai Fujita, Comand Bolshoi, Princesa Mitzy, La Hechicera, and many more. Cassandra won the Indy Wrestling Stars Cup in 2012, Promociones HUMO Mexico Women's Champion in 2016, and in 2019, she was the final participant at the Promociones HUMO Women's Tag Team Tournament Cup.
El Paso, Texas is the hometown of The legendary Guerrero family. It is also home to The Ontiveros family with their promotion, New Entertainment Wrestling for fourteen years, a young girl and sister of The Ontiveros family became the hottest and toughest luchadora from that side of the Border, Dulce Tormenta. Formerly known as Delilah, trained by her older brother, Tirano, and Lucha legends Rey Lagarto and Triton. this young woman has eight years of Lucha experience as well having recently toured in Europe, across America, and participated in Toronto's Demand Lucha, the 2023 Queen of the Indies Tournament from Relution Lucha Libre in San Francisco, and became Tijuana's The Crash Women's World Champion. Tormenta fought the likes of Tessa Blanchard, Taya Valkyre, Jessie Jackson, and La Hiedra, and appeared on AEW Dark and Dark Elevation against Jade Cargill, Diamante, Mercedes Martinez, and current ROH Women's World Champion Athena. Keep an eye out for this sweet storm of a woman. as she will appear in the Southeastern US, Puerto Rico and South America real soon.
Datura is not like your average Women's wrestler or luchadora, being billed as "La Rompecorazones" ("The Heartbreaker".) this Santa Ana, California native was trained by Martin Marin, Infernal, Shamu, Jr., and Dr.Maldad. Throughout her ten-year career, Datura has been a household name in every promotion in the Los Angeles and San Diego Indy Wrestling and Lucha circuit, Mexico, and Stardom Joshi promotion in Japan as well. She was also a finalist at the Hamada Dojo's Reality Show in Mexico City this Summer. fought Chika Tormenta, Amazona, Christina Von Eerie, La Rosa Negra, Santana Garrett, and Leah Von Dutch.
Following the footsteps is Super Crazy, Jr. hailing from Tulacingo, Hidalgo, Mexico, and trained by both her dad, ECW's Insane Luchador Super Crazy (now wrestling for Pro-Wrestling NOAH) and her uncle Crazy Boy. This young woman has given every luchadora and luchador South of the Border a run for their money. In her almost two years of being a pro, she made a name for herself throughout Mexico from WWS up to AAA Lucha Libre Worldwide affiliates.
Zaphiro hails from Ponce, Puerto Rico. having been in Pro Wrestling for nearly a decade. made her reputation as a valet and wrestled in her old hometown promotions the now defunct Caribbean Wrestling Federation (CWF), and NWG, among others, and wrestled at the also defunct Lajas' John Wrestling Promotion where "The Dreamcatcher" Kayla Joine and herself were the JWP World Tag Team Champions a few years ago before the promotion itself closed down their doors for good. Comerio's CWA, and also being a part of La Revolucion Femenina invaded the now defunct LAWE. since moving from Puerto Rico and currently residing in Buffalo, New York with her husband, El Pequeño Enel. Since moving to the US a couple of years ago. both of them are making names for themselves throughout the Northeast. Zaphiro will be appearing for Upstate Pro Wrestling in Rochester, NY on November 11 as she takes on Adrianna Fury in a Steel Cage match for the newly vacant UPW Women's World Championship and on Friday, November 17th. Zaphiro returns to the Island and her hometown for a special NWG One Night Only event from Cancha Bajo Techo del Villa Del Carmen, Ponce, Puerto Rico. In the upcoming all-new edition, we will spotlight Zaphiro's husband, El Pequeño Enel and will have more on NWG One Night Only.
Serket, from Bogota,Colombia has been making waves throughout her homeland and Latin America. Trained by Colombian Lucha legends Gemelo Halcon, and Deadman at the Lucha WAG SAW Academy in Bogota. She recently fought against two of Mexico's top Indy Luchadoras: Nexy and Princesa Quetzal at Soacha's Pro Evolution Wrestling's Colision de Naciones event on October 15. To close out this special edition is none other than former WWE NXT Superstar Catalina Garcia, hailing from Santiago, Chile, She started wrestling at 14 years old. trained in her homeland at the Revolucion Lucha Libre, Alejandro Saez (who participated at the WWE Cruiserweight Classic seven years ago), and in her two years as part of the NXT roster trained by former wrestler Sara Amato (Sara Del Ray) and former coaches Serena Deeb and Timothy Thatcher being billed as "La Diva del Ring", Catalina has not only graced fans in her homeland in South America but all over the world even in her short two years in WWE as Katrina Cortes and Carolina, This young woman from the other side of the Andes Mountians has had her share of victories and defeats, even fought the likes of her fellow countrywomen, Sara Phoenix, Zatara (who appeared on the second and final Mae Young Classic in 2018), Stephanie Vaquer, Mexico's Lluvia and Jarochita, Amapola, Marcela, and former WWE NXT Superstars Santana Garrett M J Jenkins, Yulissa Leon among others. Recently Garcia defeated "Puerto Rican Power" Zeuxis (who also appeared in WWE's second annual Mae Young Classic) becoming the newly crowned CMLL Mexico Women's Universal Champion. Be on the lookout for this impressive young woman in America and debuting in Puerto Rico's top wrestling promotions for the first time shortly.
