From Larry Goodman and King T'Chaka Jones:
The people came out in droves to see Deep South Wrestling on a beautiful Saturday afternoon in Atlanta. Das BBQ was jam packed. The crowd swelled to 400 while the show was in progress. Mass quantities of beer and barbecue were sold.
DSW could not go wrong under the circumstances. I saw nothing but smiling face as I looked around the audience. Spring was in the air. Watching live wrestling and drinking beer was a relaxed, mellow way to spend the afternoon.
The weather was a welcome change from DSW's recent shows. Free hot chocolate was advertised for their January event. With the temperature hovering around the freezing mark, that show was billed as the coldest show in wrestling history. Conditions for the February show were balmy by comparison --45 degrees at bell time. Nick Patrick said DSW found out how just how many hardcore fans they had at those shows.
DSW's leadership team of Patrick and Eric Adamz opened. Patrick talked about how well the DSW talent (Najasism, Skrilla The Great and Jacob Johnson) represented on their trip to Texas to Booker T's Reality of Wrestling. Patrick said Booker told his guys the Georgia guys showed them up.
Adamz said the prize for the $10,000 Battle Royal was now up to $25,000 due to additional sponsorship. Yup, that's what Adamz said. Adamz pointed out Zach Mosley's aunt, Veda Bowman in the crowd.
They shot the open for the first episode of TV. Deep South Champion Skrilla The Great came out to a mostly but not entirely negative reaction. The first two-time champion in DSW history said he beat Chad Skywalker last time and Zach Mosley was next. Then Skrilla called Bowman an old bitch. Mosley rushed the ring but was cut off by the referees.
(1) Najasism defeated Jay Alpha Miller via submission in 10:55. Miller targeted Naja's back. Naja blitzed Miller with so much offense the lights were on but nobody was home. The crowd bit on Naja's frog splash as the finish. Miller hit a nice climbing avalanche suplex. Naja applied sharpshooter, pulled Miller to ring center and really sat back on it. Just a good, solid wrestling match with a strong babyface/heel dynamic.
(2) Apollo Prince defeated DJ Smoke in 8:45. Prince overpowered Smoke for most of the match. Smoke slipped out of Prince's powerbomb and capped off his comeback with a frog splash. Referee Santa got kocked down. Prince gave Smoke a low blow and pinned him with the powerbomb, which got big time heat.
Matt Sells and his white trash, partially Irish ass came to the ring to hype the St. Patrick's Day weekend and the barbecue.
(3) Tyson Maddux defeated Professor Pain (with C-Dub) in 10:18. Commentary put Maddux over as the hottest free agent in the Southeast and the first black champion in Big Japan history. The Professor was giving Maddux a wrestling education of sorts in the early going. Maddux is a specimen. He has springs for legs and tremendous power. He blinded Pain by turning his mask around. Maddux picked up the win with a jackhammer.
Jacob Johnson came to ringside wanting a piece of Maddux and had to be restrained. After that happened, Maddux laid out C-Dub and told Adamz he better pay him right or it would be sayonara, back to Japan and enough of this Deep South bullshit. The people were not liking Maddux.
(4) Mystery Partner Match: Cosmo Martinez & Chad Skywalker defeated Luka Daniels & Grayson Pierce in 10:30. Pierce and Skywalker were introduced as the mystery partners. Daniels was forced to wear a mask due to a previous stipulation. The mask was throwing Luka off his game. Cosmo pulled Luka's mask off and took a piledriver from Daniels. Skywalker intervened and pinned Daniels with a moonsault elbow drop.
They shot another TV open. CT Entertainment (the former Cedric Terrell) confronted Adamz and ridiculed Jacob Johnson for being the biggest loser of all - he couldn't get a match with Maddux and failed to take the title off of Skrilla. Johnson stormed the ring and whipped CT's ass, gave him two world's strongest slams. Crowd wanted a third. Johnson gave it to them. Johnson said he was tired of being overlooked. The title was coming home to him. Johnson put the exclamation point on it with one more slam for CT.
Great fire from Johnson. His version of the World's Strongest Slam looks devastating. Made me want to see him against either Skrilla or Maddux.
(5) Gemma Jewels (with Ray Entepreneur) vs. Nahir Robles was ruled a no contest at 6:18. Pretty good heat for Jewels. Referee Fullilove caught Jewels using the tights to pin Robles, then caught Robles using the tights to pin Jewels. Jewels and Robles shoved Fullilove down so he called for the bell. Two guys jumped in to separate the women. They both got slugged. Robles and Jewels were going at it ECW catfight style as wrestlers poured into the ring and the crowd chanted "let them fight!" The finish was creative and the catfight revved up the crowd.
King T'Chaka Jones with the hot tag!!!
Chapter 6 ... Skrilla the Great d. Zach Mosley
Zach Mosley, who hasn’t been seen at Deep South Wrestling for some time, is all business. No temper tantrums, no talking to the crowd...Mosley couldn’t wait to get his hands on Skrilla the Great (Who is a Dick by the way). Skrilla didn’t make it to the ring before Mosley confronted him near the entrance. Mosely was attacking Skrilla all around the ring and the ref couldn’t start the match. Ref Paul Santa kept trying to get both competitors in the ring, however, it fell upon deaf ears. Mosley stayed on the attack and Skrilla couldn’t do anything but try and retreat. Eventually Skrilla was rolled into the ring and the match finally began properly. Didn’t matter much to Mosely as he continued to punish Skrilla. Skrilla FINALLY gets a bit of air and gets a little bit of offense in. He slows down the pace when he chops Mosley in the throat when Mosely was trying a move off the second rope. Skrilla becomes the stalker and works more of his own pace. Skrilla gets a little full of himself and starts to bicker back and forth with the ref. Ref Santa was not having it, scolded Skrilla, and told him he was NOT the one to play with. This moment gave Mosley a brief second to capitalize with a suplex and bridging pin for only 2. Mosley then transitions into an ArmBAR Submission and Skrilla is in major trouble! Skrilla refuses to give up and recovers enough to pull a neck breaker. Both men eventually tumble to the outside to catch their breath and fight a bit more. Rolling back into the men, both men are on their knees punching each other with every bit they have! Both men are standing and still exchanging strikes. Mosley then hits a kick to the face! Skrilla hit a Fireman’s Carry Slam! Mosley with a Dropkick and then a Curb Stomp!! Skrilla is in Trouble!! Mosley is setting up for what looks to be a Spanish Fly however, Ref Santa is in the way and gets wiped out in the process! Mosley goes for the Pin!! 1...2...3...4...5...6...7...8...9... The crowd counts but the Ref is still down. Skrilla tries to take advantage of the fact that Mosley is trying to wake the ref up! Skrilla is shrugged off and Mosley goes to the ropes to try to finish Skrilla once and for all! Suddenly, Tyler ‘The Wall’ Stevens runs in and pushes Mosley off the ropes! The Wall then takes out Mosely with a Big Boot!!! The crowd is beside themselves as they urge the Ref to get up. The Wall helps Mosley up only to serve him to Skrilla and Skrilla hits a Skrill Ride! The ref is finally a little more coherent as Skrilla covers Mosley! Skrilla gets the 3 Count Pin and the Win as he is showered with boos!! Skrilla is still your Deep South Wrestling Heavyweight Champion.
After the match....
Zach Mosley is still on the ground and getting stomped on when Eric Adamz rushes to the ring! He confronts Skrilla about the outcome and stops the stomps to Mosley. The Wall cares not for all the back and forth talking and gives Eric Adamz a Big Boot to the face for HIS troubles! Skrilla and The Wall gloat and tease everyone as the crowd hates every minute Skrilla is in the ring. They start making their way to the back, however Eric Adamz recovers just enough to grab the mic. He said he made a call earlier to bring a friend in to handle his Skrilla Problem. That friend is from Classic City Wrestling and that man is their Champion Owen Knight! It will be Champion vs Champion on April 13th as we will have Skrilla the Great vs Owen Knight! Also, Adamz said he needs to lose a little bit of his weight (About 40 Pounds) so he can get a piece of Skrilla in May! Looks like Skrilla is in for a long next couple of months!
After Match Notes...
Skrilla is a Dick and continues to be a massive heat magnet at Deep South. It was a very entertaining match and Zach Mosely was looking as sharp as ever. Good Highs and the crowd were super into everything. No full report from me this time as I was only really able to catch bits and pieces of the show up until the Main Event. The Main Event was very much worth it tho and can’t wait to see what they will do in April!!!
NOTES: Drewski, Nathan Hamilton and Matt Sells handled the live commentary, which was audible to the crowd ala PCW...Trever Aeon, Nate Mansions, Deon Summerz and Jabari McIntyre were among those on hand....Paul Santa and Mike Fullilove were the referees...Michael Longino was the ring announcer.
