From Larry Goodman:
Something needed to be done about ProSouth's dormant tag team championship. The Hierarchy (Joe Black and The Kenway) were the champions but had not been in Piedmont in two months. Kenway moved back to St. Louis so prospects of a glorious title reign looked grim.
It was far from easy but the gimmick got the tag team titles where creative wanted them to go. Scott Adams now has a truly formidable faction in Ayden Andrews, Bubba Cagle and Cody Windham. Andrews and Cagle are the new tag team champions. Windham is the number one contender for the ProSouth Championship.
Next week looks big.
The ProSouth title match between Champion Ace Haven and Windham is now a dog collar match with falls count anywhere rules.
Brandon Whatley joined Mathias Darkthorne and Wicked Nemesis on commentary. Not a word spoken about Liquid Death.
Joseph Void, Jeremy Blackstone and clueless newcomer T Bird were the referees. Darkthorne was back doing double duty as the ring announcer. Videography by Katie Lindsey.
(1) Draw 2 Brawl Qualifier: Bubba Cagle (with Scott Adams) & X-Alater defeated Caeden Ooten & Ayden Andrews (with Scott Adams) in 5:31. Andrews hit Nail In the Coffin on X-Alater but left the ring to get in Cagle's grill rather than going for the pin. While ref was busy with brouhaha on the outside Christian Pierce sneaked into the ring with Once Bitten for Ooten and put X-Alater on top of him.
Whatley popped me by calling X-Alater "Escalator". I think he should officially change his name.
Ooten said he was tired of Pierce ruining his moment. Once you cut the snake's head off it's dead and he fully intended to do that to Pierce.
(2) Draw 2 Brawl Qualifier: Cody Windham (with Scott Adams) & Christian Pierce defeated Brother Azriel & Ravana Xin in 10:05. Xin walked out on Az because only cared about settling her score with Keast and didn't give a rat's ass about the tag titles. Pierce and Windham were at odds. Adam interfered against Az. Pierce objected and went for the Once Bitten on his partner. Windham fended it off, sending Pierce crashing into Az and Windham rolled Az up using the tights.
Ace said he had a cat and mouse game going with Windham so let's put a dog collar on me, a dog collar on you like the bitch that you are, and put a chain in between us. To spice things up, Ace said let's make it falls count anywhere "Ace Haven and this ProSouth Championship, that's one divorce you won't have a part in, bud." Whatley was appalled.
The devilish side of Ace Haven in plain view.
(3) Draw 2 Brawl Qualifier: Joe Black & Justin McKenzie defeated DRP & Cameron Keast in 10:02. Black and McKenzie were at odds. Keast wrestled McKenzie but wouldn't hurt him. With Keast in dire straits, Harley Haven came to ringside and grabbed Black's leg. McKenzie laid DRP out with Sliced Bread 69 but Black had made an unwanted tag. McKenzie objected. Black pie faced him. McKenzie retaliated and gave Black a slingshot DDT and Black landed on top of DRP for the three count.
A McKenzie/DRP singles match is a must.
Xin cut a promo from the stage. Cam talked about eight years in the making but never tells the other side of things, how he left her in the ring by herself. Harley should not get involved in this. Give her the vial and she was leaving, and if not, she was going to drink his blood. Xin would accepted a match with Keast on one condition: She wasn't leaving until he quit and she tasted his blood. "I Quit, Ravana, I'm sorry, here's the vial."
Keast said Ravana would get the vial from his cold, dead hands over his burning corpse.Keast said an I Quit Match was right up his alley and Harley was as involved in this as anyone.
Ravana said she didn't even know Harley but if she wanted to get caught up, that was on her.
Harley asked Xin can you not see I'm green? Harley said she was involved with Cam because they were all the same, all involved with the dragon. Harley inserted herself in the I Quit match. Keast said, "I trust you kid."
Still feels like a chapter is missing from this story. Shitty audio torpedoed the segment. They mics were a problem all night, commentary mics were hot, other mics were weak.
(4) Vougan defeated Steven Calozzi in a Brass Knuckles on a Pole Match (4:46). Calozzi got the knucks but when he tried to use them, Vougan kicked the knucks into his face and pinned him.
Could have been a lot worse. Wicked later had the unmitigated gall to claim they stole the show.
(5) Karmageddon (Bubba Cagle & Ayden Andrews with Scott Adams) won the Draw 2 Brawl Battle Royal to become the new ProSouth Tag Team Champions in 7:46. Amy Haven drew three wild cards for the Battle Royal -- Ayden Andrews, Brother Azriel and Cameron Keast (with Harley Haven!)-- Whatley noted Andrews was wearing a t-shirt...hmm.
Black and Az went at with intensity. Black pulled Az over the top rope and they battled their way to the back. Xin showed up and slapped Keast, who went psycho. He hit Bloody Tears on X-Alater and eliminated him. Andrews dumped Keast. Ooten ran in and pulled Pierce to the floor. McKenzie was surrounded by Karmageddon. Andrews suddenly threw Windham over the top rope. Cagle confronted Andrews. He pulled off his Karmageddon t-shirt revealing a Chosen Ones shirt underneath. McKenzie patted Andrews on the back. Andrews picked McKenzie up and planted him on the apron so Cagle could apply the finishing touch. Andrews had a cut off Karmageddon shirt under the Chosen Ones shirt. Wicked called it a double turn. Karmageddon was super smug about pulling the wool over everyone's eyes.
Joe Wood, pickle in hand, said he and his brother decided against the Draw 2 Brawl. Per Amy Haven, Bloodborn would have a title match against Karmageddon next week.
Mission accomplished. The powers that put the tag belts in strong hands and set up a title defense in no time flat. I bought a ticket for Andrews quitting Karmageddon.
(6) YouTube Champion Scott Spade & AJ Black defeated ProSouth Champion Ace Haven (with Amy Haven) & All-Out Champion Julius Pryor via DQ in 12:34. Ace went for an old school ropes walk. Spade shoved him to the floor. The next shot was of Ace crumpled up by the guardrail. We got Pryor vs. AJ AJ got the better of it and Pryor was taking heat. Whatley made the point that Spade was breaking down Pryor's core. Pryor did a tornillo dive to get to the hot tag. Ace Haven hit parade coming up. Spade hit his torture rack neckbreaker. Pryor dove in to break it up and landed on Ace. AJ flatlined Pryor for a close near fall. Ace laid AJ out with a cutter on the apron and gave Spade a Jimmy Rave STO. Windham hit the ring gunning for Ace. He ducked and Spade got clotheslined over the top rope for the DQ.
Crowd came alive for this. Nice layout. Spade's ring psychology rules. I am digging the AJ Black push.
Karmageddon assaulted Ace. McKenzie, Wood and Keast came to Ace's rescue. Pryor and Black were wailing on each other. Windham and Ace were battling it out center ring as the screen went to black.
