From Larry Goodman:
-- Nick Halen
The go home show for Crossroads.
Jacob Ashworth, Mr. Landmark Arena and one of the SFCW's most popular stars over the last eight years, turned against his partner and quit the company in a snit.
Nick Halen is losing his mind. Rob Adonis lost his a while ago.
Dominic Stuckey ran through The Crusade to earn his one-on-one shot at former bossman Hunter James and the Classics Championship
Sal Rinauro lived to fight another day as the Southern Fried Champion and issued a a mad challenge to two-time champion CT Keys.
Fro Cool (Seth Delay & Michael Walker) vs. Madstreet (Michael Stevens & Sunny Daze) for the tag titles
A major question to be answered at Crossroads is will Southern Fried pull the trigger on any title changes?
Also on the card:
Grudge Match - Bobby Moore vs. Tayo
Judas & Todd Sexton vs. Xavier Cross & Jaden Vain
Zack Buchanan vs. Pat Roach
Attendance was what it is during college football season in Monroe and that ain't good. I wish the video looked and sounded more exciting.
Nick Halen promo Halen was backstage, mic in his hand and told the cameraman to follow him. Halen pulled up a chair center ring. The show would not start until he got Rob Adonis and/or Disturbed out there and he would whip anybody's ass to get exactly what he wanted.Manders informed Moore his suspension was lifted as was Tayo's. They would have their match at Crossroads.
(1) Zack Buchanan defeated Christian Taylor in 4:22. Taylor hit an avalanche fallaway slam. Buchanan ducked Taylor's kill shot and finished off a a flurry of offense with an Alabama jam.
Wrestled like a WWE speed match. Vance was not wrong when he described them as young hoss athletes.
(2) Jaden Vain & Xavier Cross defeated Jesse Cruz & Jay Shaw in 3:05. Cross did all the work -- spear for Shaw, choke slam on Cruz. Vain tagged in to hog the glory.
A showcase for Cross's power. Vain's sunglasses were ridiculous.
(3) Classics Champion Hunter James (with Kat Spencer) defeated CT Keys in a non-title match in 16:07. CT's fuse was lit. Kat got in his way and generally made herself a nuisance. Match took a 180 turn with CT's sky high choke slam...battle to survive submissions. Keys was about to put James out with a cobra clutch. Stevens marched to ringside with a message for Keys. Referee Dee Byers fell for the distraction. Rinauro ran in from behind with a belt shot on Keys. James was thrilled to take the win anyway he could get it.
The real winner here was Kat Spencer, coming on strong in the personality department. Hunter and Kat look great as a pairing. I hope the get in synch on their pose. It only made sense for James and Keys both to be kept strong. Keys losing the way he did only built his case
(4) Fro Cool (Seth Delay & Michael Walker) defeated Jacob Ashworth & Billy Buck to retain the Southern Fried Tag Team Championship in 10:35. Car crash of big move and everybody is down. Delay sunk like a submarine on a dive off the top and got DDTed by Buck. Delay laid there twitching on the mat. Ashworth made a blind tag and had no conscious about taking advantage of the situation. Buck was like WTF? Ashworth shoved Buck and got rolled up by Walker.
THE TURN
Ashworth attacked Buck from behind and laid him out with a roll of the dice behind Buck's back. Ashworth knocked referee Weakley down and gave Buck another roll of the dice. Refs got Ashworth Leave the ring and went back to devastate Buck with a third roll of the dice.
Manders got in Ashworth's personal space. Ashworth said he had the most tenure of anyone and he wanted championships. Screw Billy Buck, the people and you. I QUIT.
Buck was wrecked. He was down in the ring for a long time before being helped to the back.
I loved the shock and awe. No foreshadowing or tease of turn just BANG, he snapped. Ashworth was out of his mind and delivered one hell of a performance. Buck selling of the attack added to the impact.
Blake Blackwell's attempt to restore decorum was all for naught. Halen and Disturbed fought their way to the ring. Disturbed seemed impervious to Halen's blows. The referees could do nothing but wave their arms. No way they were getting in the middle of this. Halen wrapped Disturbed's belt around his throat and tried to pull his mask off. Vance said this -- "What kind of mental patient would do a complete clothing change?" Disturbed face planted Halen with a reverse choke slam and tried to pull up the canvas.
Props to everybody involved. They've made this a match I need to see.
Moore entered the ring to render aid to Halen. Tayo ambushed Moore with a dragon suplex and left him laying with a hidden blade using Moore's elbow pad. Disturbed had two robotics words for Halen. "Cross Roads".
(5) Dominic Stuckey defeated The Crusade (Joey Hyder and Tayo and Rosario Grillo and Kat Spencer and Hunter James) in a gauntlet match.
(a) Stuckey defeated Hyder in 7:23. A hard fought back and forth match ended when Stuckey blocked Hyder's headlock driver and pinned him with the Domino Effect.
(b) Stuckey defeated Tayo in 12 seconds. Tayo made his way towards the ring waving Moore's elbow pad. Moore pulled up on Tayo and punched him in the mouth. The elbow pad conveniently landed in Moore's hands. Moore landed the discus elbow on Tayo and rolled him into the ring. Stuckey picked up the win with another Domino Effect.
(c) Stuckey defeated Grillo via DQ in 8:05. Grillo got DQEd for clocking Stuckey with the ring bell, then delivered two stomps for good measure.
(d) Stuckey defeated Spencer in 6 seconds. Stuckey was down. Kat confidently entered the ring oozing with confidence and nonchalantly laid down on Stuckey Dom surprised her a crucifix pin reversal.
James on the mic with the old style "whoa, whoa, whoa" to distract. Kat speared Stuckey.
(e) Stuckey defeated James via DQ in 4:15. James took full advantage of Stuckey's predicament. Vance called Hunter's uber confidence arrogance personified. Domino Effect out of blue by Stuckey. James rolled out to the floor. James got back in holding the title belt and threw his ring jacket over the head of referee Bryan Waites. Stuckey went down like he'd been shot. Waites caught James red-handed with the belt. James got on his knees and begged Waites not to DQ him.
Stuckey is more over as babyface with each passing appearance, and helped his cause by blowing through four members of the Crusade and outsmarting James. Stuckey's embedded matches with Hyder and Grillo were both good. It took a lot of suspension of disbelief to buy that finish though.
(6) Sal Rinauro (with Michael Stevens) defeated Judas (with Todd Sexton) via count out to retain the Southern Fried Championship in 15:41. Stevens was causing all kinds of trouble. Sal caught Judas off guard with a gamebreaker. Rinauro got over his skis with a handspring stunner and got his clock cleaned. Sal resorted to biting the former five-time Southern Fried champion to gain control. Judas backdropped Rinauro from his knees. Stevens saved Rinauro from El Crucifijo and got decked by Sexton.,,Referee Dee Byers ate an errant superkick from Sal. Judas speared Rinauro with Byers in no condition to count the pinfall. Sexton ran to the back for another ref. Rinauro spit water in Judas' eyes and put him down with a superkick. Waites slid in to make the count...and the match continues.
Judas had Sal ready to tap with a single leg crab. Sexton cut off Vain's attempt to interfere. Cross and Judas got involved. Vain grabbed Judas' leg to prevent him from beating the 10 count.
Match could only be good. Look who was in there. Their ability to work around the size difference was masterful. The heat ramped up nicely in the closing minutes. The ref bump looked bad. The credibility of the officiating at Southern Fried took hits in the last two matches.
Carnage ensued. Madstreet, Vain and Cross all beat on Judas and Sexton until Keys played one man wrecking crew. Rinauro said he was sick of Keys sticking his nose in Madstreet business and challenged him to a Madhouse match at Crossroads.
