From Larry Goodman:
As much as I enjoyed the Black Friday episode, it left the Anniversary Supershow card in an ambiguous state with only two weeks to go. Whatever else can be said about the merits of this week's show (and it did have some), it nailed down what is going down on December 19 as much as anything is ever certain with this company.
-- Ace Haven vs. Scott Spade (c) in a Crosswire Match for the YouTube Championship. Spade has never lost a Crosswire match. Ace has never held the YouTube belt, winning it would make him a grand slam champion.
-- Newly crowned ProSouth Champion Brother Azriel will defend the title against Ayden Andrews, though it appears The Mongel may want a piece of the action.
-- Blood Born (Alexander Lincoln & Joe Wood) (c) issued an open challenge for TLC tag team title match.
-- Christian Garrett (c) vs. Cameron Keast for the All-Out Championship. That's if Keast is any shape to wrestle after being burnt to a crisp and beaten with chain by Garrett and Scott Adams during this episode.
-- Leon Ruffin vs. Ravana Xin: The Rematch. God only knows what that's going to be. Tony Midas and Vougan may or may not be involved.
-- Christian Pierce may or may not choke Harley Haven with a bullrope.
Wicked Nemesis and Brandon Whatley on commentary, ring announcing by Mathias Darkthorne, our officials for the evening: Joseph Void and T-Bird. Jessie was the ringside videographer.
A few seconds into the intro montage, the camera cut to the ring where Christian Pierce and Caeden Ooten were brawling like crazy. Pierce laid Ooten out with a donkey punch. Harley Haven grabbed Pierce's leg. Pierce grabbed a handful of Harley's hair. Ooten speared Pierce to come out on top in the end.
Creative continues to experiment with cold opens, this one to much better effect that the Trey Jordan/Vougan debacle.
The intro rolled...cut to Darkthorne in the ring saying how Pierce and Ooten just made a mess of the run sheet. Darkthorne jettisoned the run sheet and said whatever happens let's get to it.
Chosen Ones (Ace Haven and Cameron Keast minus Justin McKenzie) Improvise
The bullet points:
-- Each of the Chosen Ones earned by winning the Big Weird Tag Match last week. Justin McKenzie was taking his shot at Garrett this week and regardless of the winner, Keast wanted Garrett at Anniverary Supershow.
-- Everything changed when Ace snapped Keast's fingers last week. Cam now knew how to be Psycho Cam any time he wanted. He needed Ace to take care of the problem if that Psycho Cam guy every got too crazy.
-- When the flow of the show gets messed up and we have to stall for time, there's a thing we do: TAG TEAM OPEN CHALLENGE.
Closer to improvisational comedy than a standard wrestling talk segment, this segment was the kind of thing that greatly entertains hardcore ProSouth fans and leaves others wondering WTF is this? Keast's behavior on last week's show called for more exposition so that part was enlightening. I came way feeling like the Chosen Ones toxic
(1) Blood Born (Alexander Lincoln & Joe Wood) defeated Chosen Ones (Ace Haven & Cameron Keast) to retain the ProSouth Tag Team Championship in 2:38. Wood played human torpedo on Ace and tried for the Wood Chipper. Keast broke that up. Chosen Ones subjected Blood Born to their super duper comeback combos. Wood clashed their head together and Blood Born scored double pins with Citizens Erase in stereo.
Respect all around after the match.
Lincoln said when he returned to ProSouth to team with his brother, he was fully committed to ProSouth and the tag team championship and now they were going to elevate the titles further by hanging them above the ring for a the TLC open challenge at Anniversary.
The synergy created by the improvement in Blood Born and the shift in creative direction has done wonders for the status of the ProSouth tag team title.
(2) Caesar's Open Challenge #1: "Caesar of the South" Steven Calozzi defeated ??? by forfeit. Music played. Wicked said it was KJ Valentine's music. Nobody came through the curtain. T-Bird counted to 10. Calozzi literally jumped for joy.
Calozzi said he was one of three in the first and best ever triple threat bullrope matches and he deserved top tier talent.
I loved how Calozzi was not just undaunted by his loss in the triple threat bullrope match but got a rub off it (with a little help from his friends on commentary).
(3) Caesar's Open Challenge #2: T-Bird aka Tiger Mask 67 defeated Steven Calozzi via DQ in 30 seconds. Referee Void came to ringside to chat with Calozzi. Meanwhile, referee T-Bird took his shirt off and donned a mask. T-Bird rolled Calozzi up for two and superkicked. Whatley was yelling for Void to call for the bell. T-Bird knocked Calozzi down with a springboard back elbow. Trey Jordan came to ringside with dollar bills falling out of his back pocket. Jordan gave Calozzi the brass knucks. Calozzi punched T-Bird with the knucks right in front of Void.
Jordan raised Calozzi's hand and a new partnership has evidently been formed.
Hey, why not? Blood Born needs an opposing team for the TLC.
Ace Haven (with Amy Haven) backstage promo Ace said no explanation was needed as to why he was using his the title shot he earned by being on the winning team the Big Weird Tag Match last week to challenge Spade for the YouTube Championship at Anniversary Supershow. His downward spiral of major losses started with losing to Spade in a Crosswire match at Anniversary last year. The King doesn't go down that easy so they were doing a Crosswire again at Anniversary.
Ace challenging Spade for YouTube title was a no brainer. The rationale for the stipulation was a bit of a stretch but ProSouth has a habit of stacking up stipulation matches on major shows.
(4) AJ Black defeated DRP (with Scott Adams) in 9:14. They traded holds and pin attempts to a stalemate with the crowd clearly behind AJ. Black started to target DRP's arm. DRP backflipped his way out of armbar to spark a run of offense. AJ kicked out of DRP's diving lariat at one. Black got a two count with a classic Curt Hennig rolling neck snap. DRP used a hotshot to set up flyinf lariat for a near fall. DRP tried to llimit AJ's air supply. AJ fired back. DRP cut AJ off with a dropkick. AJ knocked DRP loopy with a big right hand. DRP had the presence of mind to pull the ropes down to spill AJ over the top. Referee Void caught Adams red handed with a chair in hand and ejected him. AJ launched a full-fledged comeback. DRP came within a hair of pinning AJ with a northern shining wizard. Out of nowhere, AJ hit the White Out (spinning backfist).
AJ wanted to shake hands. DRP punched AJ in the mouth. Adams joined in to beat AJ down.
This show needed a seriously good wrestling match somewere along the line. AJ and DRP provided it. With Karmegeddon down to two members, it was important for DRP to get his heat back after the match.
(5) Tony Midas & Ravana Xin defeated Leon Ruffin & Vougan in 11:24. Before the bell, Xin pulled Tony's car keys out of her bosom and returned them to Midas. They did the age old Southern wrasslin' comedy routine where the heel (in this case Midas) unknowingly ends up pumphandling his partner's arm and doesn't realize it until both babyfaces are standing in front of him. Vougan did a watered down version of the Tarantula. Midas and Xin got heat on Vougan. A comedy of errror ensued with Midas and Xin repeatedly hurting each other by accident. Vougan and Ruffin tried to execute a combinaton move. Vougan headbutted Ruffin in the groin and Midas rolled Vougan up.
Ruffin challenged Xin to one more match. He didn't know what it was going to be but it was going to be big and it was going to happen on December 19. Xin tucked Tony's car keys in the ass section of her tights.
A perverse wrestling entertainment classic as only ProSouth Wrestling can do them. Bonus point to Xin for selling like her arm was crippled by the pumphandle spot.
(6) Christian Garrett (with Scott Adams) defeated Justin McKenzie to retain the All-Out Championship in 10:39. McKenzie frustrated Garrett with his wrestling. Garrett took a TO to lick his wounds. McKenzie tried for a huracanrana off the apron and Garrett rudely threw him to the floor. Garrett powerbombed McKenzie on the apron and did a number on his low back. Back inside the ring, Garrett continued to abuse McKenzie McKenzie fought of Garrett's homicidal. suicidal avalanche german suplex and his missile dropkick found the mark. Garrett tried to use his size advantage to ground McKenzie's air attack. McKenzie nevertheless connected with a trio of topes ala Jay Lethal. McKenzie reentered the ring with slingshot DDT. McKenzie hit a swanton bomb followed by moonsault. Still not good enough to pin Garrett. McKenzie took a full rotation bump on Garrett's avalanche german suplex. Garrett covered with one arm. McKenzie rolled a shoulder at the count of two. A strike battle ensued until both men went down. Adams clocked McKenzie with a chain.
A better than expected match with the cliched outside interference finish. They both worked hard. That bump McKenzie took on the floor looked gnarly.
Adams said they were not going to allow another Kid of Keast. It was time to get the Keast out of McKenzie. Garrett started beating on McKenzie with his Kids of Keast mask. Keast hit the ring to brawl with Garrett. Adams hit Keast with a chain. Garrett tied Keast to the ringpost. Adams said Keast was a sucker for the weird and he was too. Adams said Keast loved his time loops. "See if you recognize this one." Adams threw a fireball in Keast's face. He said the time had come for history to repeat itself -- chain match (at Anniversary Supershow). Adams said it was time for a baptism. Adams recited a bastardized version of the Lord's Prayer. Adams and Garrett waterboarded Keast. Garrett mocked the Kids of Keast pose.
This was a strong angle, shocking due to the sudden explosion of violence. Adams was a raving lunatic. Garrett is a scarily believable bad guy.
New ProSouth Champion Brother Azriel's Victory Speech Az recapped his 2025 -- his brush with death in only to return to the ring two months later, his war with Joe Black, winning Battle Rumble to become the number one contender and beating Scott Spade to win the ProSouth Championship last week. Az said he welcomed the target that was on his back as champion. He beat death and he could beat any contender. Being on the brink of death made him stronger. Az challenged anybody in the back to face him at Anniversary Supershow because he was unstoppable.
Commissioner Amy came onstage to announce that Ayden Andrews was using the title shot he earned from the Big Weird Tag Match to choose Az at Anniversary Supershow.
The lights went out. To the ring came The Windigo. Whatley said he had never seen a white woman move that way. The Mongrel soon followed. Mongrel and Azriel locked eyes and removed their acoutrements. Az smiles. The Windigo shrieked. Mongrel threw the first blow and traded shots with Az until the screen went to black.
Az's promo was on the money. No way a title match with Andrews can be anything but a positive development. Mongrel was a unexpected wild card but not as fearsome as it would have been had he not lost clean to AJ Black last week.
