ProSouth Wrestling #784 : Trinity Challenge Cup Finale

It has been a long time since I’ve done one of these, but with a busy weekend of wrestling in Georgia, sometimes you get drafted to help fill out the line up card of show reports, which I’m happy to do. It also helps that I’m usually watching the ProSouth YouTube channel most Fridays anyway. 

More of a looser Challenge format these past couple of years; it used to be held over consecutive nights but has now been spread out over several week. To catch up on how everything came together, please read Larry Goodman’s previous ProSouth reports, or you can watch the shows on ProSouth’s YouTube channel.

Referees are Joseph Void and Becca. The Wicked Nemesis and Mathias Darkthorne on commentary with Darkthorne also handling the ring announcing.

Match 1: TCC semifinals: Sean Nelson, Brother Azriel, and Security Guy Jamie vs. The Process (Brandon Whatley, Joe Wood, and Tragik). Referee Becca

Darkthorne says that Commish Amy Haven has banned the Woodgrain pile driver that Az uses and if he does use it, it will be $2k fine. A video of Amy (who is in the passenger seat of a traveling car) plays, saying that Justin McKenzie’s (McKenzie, Damon Thomas, and Oliver Green)team has been disqualified, due to McKenzie never being picked for that team, so the Process is back in the tourney (they having been eliminated in a previous episode). Jamie starts for his team, perverse entertainment, indeed. Things get wonky fast. Process takes over with Nelson getting the beat down. Hot tag to Az but gets stalled when he tried to pile drive Wood. Jamie climbs the ropes and falls on the Process. Jamie eats a superkick from Whatley and gets pinned at 9:53. The Process moves on to the finals and Jamie gets flattened on more time.

Match 2: TCC semifinals: Jon Averson, Julius Pryor, and Alexandria Quinn vs. Ryan Wyndell, Julian Balderas, and Christian Pierce. Referee Void.

Pryor has been Hollywooding his way in the all the matches. Quinn has not been medically cleared after the vicious attack from KJ Valentine last week, so this will be a handicap match. Pryor leaves Averson in the ring to take a phone call from his agent and Averson eats a Balderas spear for the pin at 7:36.

Another Amy video: since Quinn isn’t medically cleared, Amy is stripping Quinn and Vougan of the tag team titles and whomever wins the TCC will be the new champs

Damon Thomas comes out and makes a promo complaining about getting DQ’ed from the TCC. Vougan is out now and is hot about being stripped of the tag team titles. Thomas and Vougan verbally spar, Darkthorne says that since Amy isn’t here, he suggests that they have a match. Thomas doesn’t think Vougan isn’t good enough and Vougan slaps the taste out of his mouth, Void comes out and we have a match.

Match 3: Damon Thomas vs. Vougan.

Vougan hot off the start, but Thomas takes over, dissecting Vougan’s various body parts.

Thomas goes for a splash, but the water rolled out of the way. Vougan gets a near fall from a leg drop and goes berserk on Thomas and causes a DQ after pushing Void. We can still hear Vougan screaming in the background, heel turn in the works?

Match 4: Wyn Brantley vs. Bubba Cagle. Ref Becca.

Brantley attacks Cagle as Cagle was about to get into the ring, targeting the leg of Cagle. Cagle’s leg brace gets dismantled while the leg gets smacked on the ring post. Half crab on Cagle, trying to reach the ropes. He reverses and uses the other leg to kick Brantly in the ear. Brantley trips up Cagle and goes for a figure 4, but Cagle small packages Brantly for the win at 5:31.

Match 5: All-Out Championship: KJ Valentine vs. DRP (c). Ref Becca.

All-Out Championship rules apply, obviously. Both men relatively new in general and both have been on the rise in ProSouth. Huge upsides for both in any company. Good match happening here. NEW Champ! Valentine wins at 6:13 with the Blackout kick to DRP’s head.

Intermission.

Match 6: ProSouth Championship match: Caden Ooten vs. Joe Black (c) with Amy Haven. Ref Void.

No Harley Haven for Ooten tonight, the split that’s been teasing for the past couple of months happened on last week’s show. The main question tonight is if Ooten will lay down for Black to be included in the Process or not. Ace Haven and Scott Adams come out onto the entrance way during the announcements. Ooten lays down off the bell, Joe goes to cover and Ooten almost gets the pin with a roll up. We have a match! Ooten is going really hard into Joe. Harley Haven is out on the ramp now. Joe catches Ooten going through the ropes and the strikes start hitting. Ooten’s trying to get Big Blue for the 4th time. If you like hard hitting ish, this is a match you would like. Ooten’s taking a beating but lands a GTS for some separation. Brain Buster by Joe for a near fall. Joe goes up top, Ooten meets him up them and hits a superplex, then a power bomb for a near fall. Harpoon by Ooten for a near fall. Harley with a rope choke on Black. Slingshot suplex by Ooten for a one count. Amy makes her move, Black lands the hit but only gets a single hand slap on the mat.

Fighting on the apron, Ooten fights off a German, but eats the STO. Haymaker knees by both studs leaves them down on the mat. Amy up on the apron, gets knocked down by Black by mistake. Fighting on the floor, Harley gets involved and gets shoved down. The 10-count was on and that’s how this match ends at 16:14 with a double count out. Still ProSouth Champion: Joe Black. 

 Ooten is bleeding from the nose/mouth after taking a bump on the ramp. They are still fighting, but Black is able to stomp Ooten down. Black seems distraught from knocking Amy down but delights in Ooten’s blood loss. 

Main Event: Finals for The Trinity Challenge Cup and the ProSouth Tag Titles: The Process (Brandon Whatley, Joe Wood, and Tragick with Amy Haven) vs. Christian Pierce, Ryan Wyndell and Julian Balderas. Ref Becca.

Amy comes out with Oliver Green and Justin McKenzie bound together with chains. Team Whip Ass Ranch has been the face team to beat this year. Wyndell is taking most of the punishment for his team; he’s like a twig in there compared to tree trunks of everyone else. Tragick’s collar is going wonky, he and Pierce landing ham hocks on each other. Tragick and Pierce run into Becca in the corner, then Tragick ducks and Becca gets hit with a Pierce punch. Adams and Ace Haven make an appearance, glaring at Tragick. Everyone else is out on the floor. Haven and Tragick start fighting, Tragick’s collar came off. Pierce takes advantage of the melee and pins Tragick at 11:54. Winners of the Trinity Challenge Cup and new ProSouth Tag team champions: Team Whip Ass Ranch.
