ACTION World Championship Darian Bengston defended his title against Hakeem Young in the opener. Alex Kane retained the King of the South Championship in the semi-main vs. Jay Tyler. Enough said about the caliber of talent.
Pre-show: CB4Three defeated Don Cameron and Rodney Rocket and Christian Faith to earn a spot in the LLJ title match later in the evening. Crowd was all in for Cameron. CB4Three dumped Faith on his head.
(1) Darian Bengston defeated Hakeem Young via submission to retain the ACTION World Championship in 13:40. Bengston introduced himself to DWA and was getting "Darian" chant before long. Grayson Pierce as Bengston's advertised opponent. He got a lucrative gig he could not pass up and Hakeem replaced him.
Hakeem went against the grain and got technical with one of the best technical wrestlers around. Bengston stretched him on the mat for a while. Enough with that shit, Hakeem pulled hair and clotheslined Bengston out. Hakeem connected on a running knee to the Bengston's ear lobe. They each tried to soften up the other's guys leg and went to the ground with submission attempts. Hakeem hit the Vader bomb, then clutched at his knee. Bengston capitalized and maneuvered Hakeem into a leglock, forcing Hakeem to tap out. Ths was a fascinating match up that likely won't happen anywhere but DWA.
(2) Herculon Rage defeated Eddie Hindrixx via DQ in 12:46. Good hoss fight. Hindrixx picked some guy up out of the crowd (hopefully a wrestler) and threw him at Rage. Hindrix posted Rage's shoulder a couple of times and tried to submit him with a shoulder lock. Hindrixx used a backpack cannonball to escape Rage's rear naked choke. Rage had Hindrixx in worse trouble with the cobra clutch , so Hindrixx hauled off and socked Paul Santa in the face.
(3) Dante Darko defeated Chayn Male in 8:35. This match evoked emotion. Crowd was loudly split about Chayn Male, CM told a tale of woe: humbled by Alex Kane, his faction disbanded, and abandoned by CB3Three, he was going back to the drawing board. CM tried tok shake hand. Darko said his respect had to earned and drove that point home throughout. Darko brutalized him. CM made a babyface comeback and the crowd responded with dueling chants.
I could have sworn a woman came up and kissed Chayn Male. Maybe I was hallucinating.
Darko dropped CM on his head CM kicked out at the last split second. Darko told CM his respect had been earned. CM slapped Darko and got murdered with a running knee.
They shook hands after the match. A reuniting of CM and CB4Three was teased and did not come to fruition.
(4) Corinne Joy defeated Alexandra Quinn to retain the DWA Women's Championship in 7:32. A babyface match on top of a babyface match. That would never work but it did.
The spilled to the floor and brawled. Joy did a dive off the pillar (see thumbnail photo). Joy got snake-eyed into the pillar. They went back and forth with solid moves for near falls and got a "both these girls" chant. Back and forth pin attempts until Quinn came very close to winning with a La Magistral. Joy ended Quinn's championship hopes with a piledriver.
This was really good, so much better than the match they had at SHW last month. It flowed and had a sense of urgency.
Fade Area Militia (Hindrixx, Jay Tyler & T3K) took Quinn under their wing after the match and it appeared no games were being played.
(5) Golden Class (Dallas Kage & Byron Young) defeated Vivian Cross & Hayden Seal to retain he DWA Tag Team Championship in 10:55. Dallas Brothers GC's advertised opponents. Super fast-paced action in the opening minutes. Seal tossed Young onto the bar and Kage took the heat. Kage had a chance to tag but had to get his shit in first. Young ran wild with aerial offese. Golden Class double stomped Seal and pinned him.
Seal was a cut above. The reps he's getting with the caliber of talent at 1FW are paying off. His execution was clean and his ring speed was as good or better than the smaller guys. Young has a great hot tag.
(6) Prince Moulay defeated CB4Three and Dominic Stuckey and Nathan Mowery and KJ Valentine in a fatal five way to retain the LLJ Championship in 8:06. Stuckey told Moulay he looked taller on the Internet. Mowery tried to stick a fork into several scalps and I think ended up getting stabbed in the foot. Everyone had their chances. Stucked hit a standing sliced bread and a Ushigiroshi. Moulay broke up the pin and planted Stuckey to retain.
I was digging the Prince. His Moroccan shoulder shimmy was over with these people and he has the looks of a real pro wrestler. Mowery's blood lust was not satisfied. That will have to wait until June 27 at Blood and Honey.
(7) Alex Kane defeated "The Three-Legged Athlete" Jay Tyler (with Travis 3000 & Eddie Hindrixx lurking about) to retain the King of the South Championship in 12:06. Nobody batted an eye at the three-legged athlete line. It's that kind of atmosphere. Story here was Fade Area Militia not being in the same page: Hindrixx supporting Tyler's questionable tactics, T3K not a happy man. Tyler was throwing soup bone punches like Tony Atlas way back in the day. Kane gave Tyler a tour of Suplex Island. Kane kicked out of Tyler's signature sky high powerbomb. Hindrixx called for the "52", Whatever the play was, Kane foiled it with an inside cradle. Good match. Tyler is one strong SOB. Kane sold big for him.
(8) The DWA World title match between Champion Tyler Stevens and Keelin Cole ended as double count out at 9:59. These guy beat the hell out each other. Frightfully stiff shots were landing. Stevens was at his most beastly. Cole was aggressive. He took everything Stevens threw at him and gave plenty back.
In the 100% psychotic spot of the night, Stevens powerbombed Cole over the top rope into the support beam (see photo at the top of the story). The impact was sick, the back of Cole's head dribbling down the beam was worse. Stevens brought Cole back in the hard way and tossed him 3/4 of the way across the ring. Cole was coughing up something I hoped was not blood.
Cole broke out an all-out barrage of offense but could not seal the deal. Stevens applied a Boston crab. Cole made it to the ropes and hit the Keelin Cutter. Stevens rolled out the floor. The brutality continued until both were outside the building and Jesse Morales counted them out.
