So I spent a Friday night venturing out to Gladeville. It was a nice building for wrestling with plenty of room to do stuff. Looked to be about 75-80 in attendance. Shane Andrews serves as the referee for the five ladies matches, while Johnny Morton did the same for the 2 men's matches.
1) Ayoka vs Ray Lyn
OUR OVW Hula Hoop Champion Ray Lyn shows off her mega-twerking skills much to the chagrin of Ayoka, who pulls Andrews in the way to avoid seeing it. Ray Lyn even mixes in a combo chicken dance/twerk to further antagonize Ayoka. They finally trade some waistlocks although Ray Lyn is able to twerk free of the hold. Ayoka lariats Ray Lyn to show her power but Ray Lyn comes from the corner to tiltawhirl Ayoka, who rolls out to the floor. Test of strength bends Ray Lyn all the way back but she is up with kicks to send Ayoka back to the corner. Ray Lyn shoots herself through the ropes onto Ayoka then dropkicks her to the floor. Ayoka catches the charging Ray Lyn and drops her onto the apron. Back in, Ayoka throws Ray Lyn to the corner and connects on some shots to the ribs. Ayoka headbutts and suplexes with a bridge for 2. Ayoka catches Ray Lyn in the nose with a knee lift then holds her up before slamming her for 2. Ayoka whiffs on a leg drop and Ray Lyn goes on the offensive. Ray Lyn shoots Ayoka into the corner and gives her a running double knee followed by a twerk to the face! Ayoka fights up before knee-lifting Ray Lyn and giving her a lungblower but only gets 2. Both women are back up before Ray Lyn wins with what looked like a stunner in 11:00.
2) Hardcore Heather Owens vs Miss Rachel
This could have been a main event at the Stadium Inn!! The crowd clearly behind Rachel as they lock up followed by a series of exchanges that end in the two ladies colliding coming off the ropes, although neither goes down from this. They go nose to nose which ends up with Rachel stomping Heather's foot before knocking her into the ropes. Heather cuddles with the bottom rope for a moment to gather her thoughts. Heather can't pick up Rachel to slam her but Rachel easily picks her up and carries her around before dropping her like a sack of potatoes for 2. Rachel butts out of a waistlock and a hipshot sends Heather into the ropes. Rachel charges into the corner but Heather drops and causes Rachel to crash into the corner. Heather gets a quick cover for 2 then works over Rachel, who is draped over the bottom rope. Heather hits a sliding kick on Rachel in the corner before carrying on with a few hard chops that take the breath away. Rachel retaliates with four chops of her own that each made a different sound. Heather stops this with the Eyepoke Of Doom followed by a camel clutch. Rachel works back up and throws some clotheslines but takes a boot from Heather. Rachel ducks a splash and hits one of her own then calls for and uses the Fish-N-Chips Suplex for the win in 11:00.
3) Jake Law vs Matt Starr
Jake did come over and introduce himself to me earlier. Matt is the USACW Champion and this is a title match. The energy picked up in here considerably for this match as I reckon these two are regulars here. After the initial lockup, Matt ends up out on the floor and allegations of hairpulling abound. Back in, Matt smacks Law in the face but gets dropkicked out again. Back in again, Matt eye rakes and chokes Law in the ropes. Law manages a rear chin lock but Matt fights out and hits the hairpull takedown! Law backslides for 2 and goes for a crucifix but Matt slithers away and gets in a hard kick to the ribs. Law comes off the ropes and tiltawhirls Matt out then dives out onto him, which I can hear a faint "this is awesome" chant. Law hits a running kick then both wrestlers make their way back in where Law neckbreakers Matt. Law climbs up the corner but Matt stops him with a right. Law comes off the top and splashes Matt but keeps rolling all the way to the opposite corner. Matt knees Law in the face but gets whipped into the corner. Law flips Matt over onto the apron, where somebody is aiming to suplex somebody else over the top rope. Ref Morton takes something away from Matt and turns to dispose of the said item, so Matt grabs the belt and whacks Law with it for the pin in 13:00.
4) Amazing Maria vs Lexxi Green vs Cali Young
It's an OVW Special 3-way here with 2 former OVW Ladies Champions (Cali & Maria)!! Three-way test of strength to start that ends with Cali clotheslining both. Cali rolls up Lexxi but Maria comes over and stomps her. Maria kicks Cali in the ribs then Lexxi joins in. Maria & Lexxi whip each other into Cali then both appear to cover her. Lexxi does the standing hair pull on Cali while Maria kicks Cali in the ribs. Cali fights up and neckbreakers Maria for a cover but Lexxi kicks Cali in the back and puts her in a camel clutch while Maria sneaks around and applies an ankle lock on her. It seems that Maria & Lexxi are working well together, as one applies a hold on Cali while the other evaluates the action (sort of like a group project beatdown). Cali trips Maria and gets a one count before Lexxi pulls her off the pin. Maria & Lexxi pull Cali up then each gives her a suplex followed by a tandem suplex followed by alternating covers. Lexxi & Maria commence scuffling over who gets to pin Cali. Maria hits an X-factor on Lexxi for 2 then Lexxi bulldogs Maria for 2 as Cali struggles to get back up. Lexxi & Maria clobber each other simultaneously and Cali scrambles over to cover each but can't get the 3 count. Lexxi gets an inverted Boston crab on Maria but Cali breaks that up. Maria arises to nail Cali with an Amazing Superkick for the pin in 10:00
5) Randi West vs Big Mama Nemesis
Former PGWA Champion Nemesis is introduced as being from Rydell High! Wonder if she was a Pink Lady? Nemesis just shoves Randi around to start. Randi wanders outside the ring to rethink strategy but climbs back in to try a test of strength only to end up on the mat again. Nemesis commences some armworking before whipping Randi into the ropes. Randi comes off and chop blocks Nemesis before going to work on her leg. Nemesis gets choked in the ropes for a bit before Randi wraps the leg around the bottom rope. Randi pulls Nemesis out to center ring and grapevines the leg for while. Randi comes off the top with a double axehandle but Nemesis catches her and tosses her into the corner. Randi boots Nemesis in the ribs and continues the legwork, but still can only get a two count. Nemesis rolls away from what might have been a submission attempt and gets to her feet. Nemesis splashes and Samoan drops Randi for 2. Randi connects on a bicycle kick for 2 then complains about ref Andrews' alleged slow counting. Nemesis clamps a Big Mama Bearhug on Randi for the submission in 10:00
6) Tele Pace vs Nathan Starr
After opening exchanges, Pace hits the hairpull takedown on Nathan then boots him in the head. Nathan gets backed to the corner and chops his way out then plants Pace into the mat for 2. Nathan gets a knee to Pace's face for 2. Pace catches the leapfrogging Nathan and rolls him up for 2 then tries to wrap his arm in the bottom rope but ref Morton puts a stop to that. Nathan super punches Pace for 2 then goes up top but Pace shakes the top rope, causing Nathan to crotch himself on the turnbuckle. Pace gets a step-up kick to the head on Nathan but gets headbutted away and Nathan frog splashes Pace for the pin in 6:00
7) Thunderkitty vs Jessie Belle Smothers
Thunderkitty is OUR PGWA Champion (having defeated Nemesis on 8/4 in Wilmington, OH) and this is a title match. Thunderkitty comes out to Patsy Cline's "Walking After Midnight"! Jessie makes it three former OVW Ladies Champions on this show! They trade armworking to start as the crowd is really quiet here. Thunderkitty hangs on to a headlock and eventually pulls Jessie down to the mat. Jessie wriggles around and pulls Thunderkitty into a headscissors. They repeat this but this time Jessie hits the Eyepoke of Doom and gets away. Thunderkitty gets a couple of rollups and a backslide but can't get a three count. Jessie slings Thunderkitty into the corner and gives her a "Kiss My Grits" splash for 2. Jessie locks in a body scissors then moves around to butterfly the arms. Jessie is up to kick and stomp Thunderkitty. Jessie goes back to butterfly the arms but Thunderkitty fights back only to get hair pulled back down. Jessie bangs Thunderkitty's head into two turnbuckles but Thunderkitty returns the favor but takes another Eyepoke of Doom. Jessie does some more choking before working on Thunderkitty's back and arms. She then intermittently puts her feet on the ropes for leverage as long as ref Andrews doesn't see it. Jessie finally gets spotted doing this and is made to break the hold. Thunderkitty sunset flips Jessie for 2 but Jessie rolls her forward for 2 as this repeats a few times. Jessie tries a surfboard on Thunderkitty then sets up and hits a suplex for 2. Jessie gets a few more two counts before complaining to Andrews. Jessie backs Thunderkitty into the corner and boots her in the ribs. Thunderkitty fights back with forearms, takes yet another Eyepoke of Doom, then reverses Jessie's DDT into one of her own. Thunderkitty boxes Jessie's ears and piefaces her before suplexing her for 2. They trade forearm shots then Thunderkitty takes Jessie down with a claw and pins her in 13:00.
Jessie takes out her frustration by giving ref Andrews a kick to the groinular region!!
THOUGHTS: I came to this show to see the ladies wrestle and get some pictures with them. I sort of accomplished this as I did get pictures with Thunderkitty and Candi Devine (who happened to drop by). Rachel and Ray Lyn also came out but they were the only ones, so yeah I was kind of disappointed. I've brought this up in the past but nothing is going to change. Speaking of stuff that never changes, I got one word for you: RAFFLES. If you like raffles this was the show for you!
