Saturday May 11, GPW presented “New Beginnings.” 245 fans packed the Buffington Gym to see what was in store for GPW after what was thought to be the end of the Real GPW.

The show opened with Darryl Morris making amends for his wrong doings. He stated that he lost his way, but has learned his lesson. He announced that he will never let the Real GPW come back. Morris then brought in Greg “Woody” Hullender. Woody announced his official retirement from GPW and from wrestling. Morris announced that Woody would be the first, and only, inductee into the GPW Hall of Fame on May 31.

Ray-Ray defeated Mr. Diggs

This was Mr. Diggs first outing as a singles competitor in GPW. Diggs was powerful and manhandled Ray-Ray. However, the “Ultimate Underdog” lived up to his moniker and gained the victory with a victory roll. 

 Bretzger Dean defeated Justin Law

This was both men’s first outing at Georgia Premier Wrestling. Dean exuded confidence, and mocked the crowd throughout the match. Law had a good showing, but was no match for Dean, who picked up the victory with a stunner.

Chip Hazard defeated Tim Miller

Coming off of a stinging loss in the Battle Royal, Hazard was in a foul mood. Miller managed to gain the confidence of the crowd and almost put Hazard away several times. Hazard picked up the victory sending a message to the GPW Southern States Champion that he’s on Hazard’s radar.

Showtime defeated Michael Marshall via countout

This match was NOT contended under Watts Rules due to a slip of the tongue by Marshall during the prematch bickering between Showtime and himself. Showtime, always a crowd favorite, managed to pull off some spectacular aerial maneuvers including a shooting star press. However, Marshall was having none of it and evacuated the ring leading to a count out. 

Josey Quinn defeated Wes Warren

It has been over 9 months since Josey was in a GPW ring, and he hasn’t lost a step. The “Pale Horse” was as dominate as the crowd remembered. Warran attempted to curtail Quinn’s homecoming, however, Quinn picked up the victory. 

Talon Williams & Cuzin Cletus defeated Eric and Axel Havok by disqualification

The Southern States Champion and ½ of the Tag Team Champions teamed up to take on the Havok Brothers, who was out to make a name for themselves. Eric, coming off the disbanding of the Real GPW, looked dominate in the ring. The finish came when Mr. Diggs came out and nailed Cletus with a lead pipe. 

This brought Morris to the ring and he informed the referee of the shenanigans. Morris called for the Havok Brothers to be disqualified due to the outside interference. The Havok Brothers and Diggs turned their attention to their former leader and beat the holy hell out of Morris. Erick took the microphone and stated that Morris can’t disband what he’s never had full control over, eluding that maybe we haven’t seen the last of the Real GPW faction.

Cuzin Shaggy defeated Musa to retain the GPW Cruiserweight Championship

In Shaggy’s first title defense he had the daunting task of overcoming Musa (who now wrestles without the mask). Musa showed some dominance; however, Shaggy showed his wrestling skills to overcome Musa and retain the GPW Cruiserweight Championship.

GPW returns to the Buffington Gym on May 31 where they will honor Greg “Woody” Hullender by inducting him into the GPW Hall of Fame. Also, this night will be a fundraiser event for Carlos Adams Basketball Program. Already signed are: Bill the Butcher w/Carpenter; Shane Marx, Jason and Brandon Collins, Thunder Blonde, Black Widow, Southern States Champion Talon Williams, Michael Marshall and more.
