Ali takes the mic from Diana. He welcomes
everyone to David Ali's Southern Honor. He again wants Diana to say the
catchphrase; she says that hopefully will be the last time, but Ali-lujah. Ali
says that he's beaten everyone on the card except Gunner Miller. The crowd
tries to drown him out, but he basks in it. Ali references that Gary Lamb
thinks that he has an oversize appendage. Ali directs attention to the screen
where the video plays of Ali kicking Logan Creed in the head in from of Creed's
child.
Creed's music plays, and the crowd pops. Towers goes to give a Kobiya kick, Creed ducks and tries to get Towers in the Scorched Earth, Towers escapes. Towers and Creed are fighting ringside. Creed dumps Towers over the barricade and out into the crowd. Creed clotheslines Towers back over the barricade. Creed rolls Towers into the ring, and the match starts.
1. Austin Towers with David Ali vs. Logan Creed
Creed is all over Towers' arm, which took damage
pre-match. Towers plants Creed off of a missed foot stomp by Creed. Massive
double open hand chops to Creed's chest. Towers goes for an arm submission with
Ali egging Creed to submit. Creed gets out and is able to suplex Towers. Towers
goozles Creed, Creed returns the favor. They knock away the hands and kick each
other in the chest. Kobiya kick by Towers, but Creed rolls out of the ring.
Towers flies over the top rope and onto Creed with a backsplash; WOW! Another
Kobiya kick, Creed kicks out at 2 and 9/10th's.
Towers goes for a third, Creed ducks, and tries for the scorched earth.
Towers gets out and tries for a chokeslam. Creed swaps it up and locks in what
looks like a Hell's Gate, and Towers is forced to tap at 8:47. Ali is furious,
and he and Creed stare daggers at each other. Ali and Towers tease some
tension.
2. The Honor Society( Kevin Ryan and Jordan
Kingsley with Logan Chase) vs. Technical Excellence (Chip Day and Kyle
Matthes). for the #1 contenders for the tag titles
TE has got some hopping music. Day is out
wrestling Ryan and Ryan is forced to bail. Ryan tags in Jordan, Day forces him
into the corner and tags in Kyle. Kyle ties up Jordan's leg and puts some hurt
on it; Jordan flees the ring. A nice-looking TE double team. Jordan grabs
Chip's leg to set up a Ryan kick. Day taking the heat but ducks an HS double
team and makes the hot tag to Kyle. Kyle almost gets the pin on Ryan. Kyle goes
up top, and Chase gets in the ring apron. Jordan trips up Kyle off of the
distraction. Ryan teases a coast to coast but fakes everyone by not doing it.
Jordan is focusing on Kyle's leg. Jordan goes for a 450, but Kyle gets his legs
up. Kyle makes the tag to Day, he gets all of a running knee to Ryan's face,
gets a near fall. HS double team Day and almost get the win. Ryan and kyle
trade running ropes moves. TE double bulldog on both Ryan and Jordan for a near
fall. HS set up for the double team, Day
breaks up the pin attempt. Dual leg submission on HS by TE. That gets broken up
when Jordan kicks Kyle off of Ryan. Kyle gets Ryan in a cloverleaf, Ryan makes
the ropes. The bell rings; it's a time limit draw at 15 minutes.
The crowd was NOT happy and want 5 more minutes.
Chase yells out, "screw you" to the crowd. The crowd wants GM Gary
Lamb. He doesn't make it out.
Bryce Cannon comes out, interrupting Diana, and
gets in her face, telling her to get out of the ring. He says that he's the
best and no one gives him any respect. Owen Knight's music plays, and we have
the next match.
3. "Frat Daddy" Bryce Cannon vs.
"War Ready" Owen Knight
Owen and Bryce cut a promo on each other. Cannon
takes a swing at Owen with the paddle. Owen ducks and plants Bryce with a code
breaker, the bell rings. Owen sets up a modified sharpshooter on Cannon, and
Cannon taps at 42 seconds.
Ashton Starr comes out before Owen can leave the
ring area; they exchange words as they pass each other.
4. "The Prince of Petty" Ashton Starr
vs. "The Captain" Shawn Dean
As noted in multiple posts, Shawn's last
independent match is as he has signed on to AEW, and the crowd is on their feet
for him. Ashton was Shawn's first match at WWA4. Dean is controlling the early
going. Starr catches Dean in between the ropes to start his offense. A scissor
kick to the back of Dean for a near fall. They start trading punches, and Dean
spinebusts Starr, both men down. Dean up first and is on the attack, gets a
near fall. Starr fights back and lands a bridging fisherman's suplex for a near
fall. Starr sets Dean on the top turnbuckle, Dean reverses it and gets a very
near fall from it. Starr almost rolls up Dean, but Knight pushes Dean out of it
behind the ref's back. Dean rallies and plants Starr with a DDT for the win at
10:08.
Knight is urging everyone to get on their feet
for Dean. Knight and Starr are
exchanging verbal unpleasantries. Knight starts to climb into the ring, and a
guy in a monkey outfit attacks Knight from behind and shoves Knight into the
ring. Starr hits the scissor kick. Monkey man unmasks to reveal Zicky Dice. Dice
and Starr mouth off to the commentary team.
5. Tag Team Championship match: Ben and Bull
Buchanan vs. Lethal Poison(Corey Hollis and Mikal Judas)(c)
All four men are facing off in the middle of the
ring, jacking jaws. Bull and Hollis will start. Ben blind tags and goes right
after Hollis, and Hollis quickly tags in Judas. Double team on Ben in the
corner and he fights out of it. Bull tags in and jumps on Hollis's arm from the
top rope. Bull and Ben are having communication issues on double teams; Judas
takes advantage of that. The game is afoot, Watson. LP is working over Ben's
leg. Ben catches a flying Hollis for a power slam, both men down. Ben couldn't
reach out for a tag, but Bull reaches out and slaps Ben's back. Bull goes to
town on Hollis, but Hollis tags in Judas. A slugfest breaks out between Bull
and Judas. Shoulder tackle by Bull, followed by a bulldog, gets a near fall.
Hollis pulls Ben off the ring apron. LP double team Bull for the win at 9:33.
LP celebrates with the titles and leave the ring. The crowd gives Bull a
"Bull" chant as he leaves.
Logan Chase makes his way to the ring and gets on
the mic. He is the bearer of bad news, but it might be the best news that
Hanson has ever had. He describes how Cyrus the Destroyer's shoulder popped out
but can't go any farther because SHW GM Gary Lamb comes out. Lamb hasn't been
out in the ring for a couple of months. He says that he is still planning on
winning the promotion of the year. Lamb announces that Dani Jordyn will be
making her return next month. He addresses the HS's match earlier in the night,
which went to a time limit draw. He makes another match between HS and TE, and
immediately afterward, the winner faces LP for the tag titles. Lamb knows about
Cyrus's injury, but people want to see Hanson in a match. Lamb tried to find
someone, but no one was available, so Lamb makes a match between HMB Hanson and
Logan Chase:
6. Logan Chase vs. Hold My Beer Hanson with
William Huckaby
The crowd is singing along to Don't Stop
Believin' by Journey, and some streamers are being thrown, great stuff. The
crowd is in total love with the All-Star Special. Chase is in disbelief. Chase
dodges the tie-up and gets out of the ring. He tries to go to the back, but
Huckaby is blocking the way. Back in the ring, Hanson lays into Chase, and
bronco busts him. Chase tries to escape again, but Huck tosses him back in.
Kevin Ryan and Jordan Kingsley run out and attack Huck. Chase throws powder
into the face of Hanson for the DQ at 4:17. HS beat down on Hanson and Huck.
Ryan puts Hanson's leg in a chair, and Chase leaps down on it from the second
turnbuckle. TE runs out to make the late save. The crowd is chanting for
Hanson.
7. AC Mack vs. Lee Johnson
Mack's on the mic. He's glad that Johnson's back
because Johnson helped cost Mack the title. Mack cuts his intro; he's at
217lbs. A video package plays showing what had happened, and Johnson enters the
arena. Johnson has some KT tape on his lower back and sides. They trade off
holds to start the match. Mack targets the back, even trotting out an abdominal
stretch. Johnson fights back with a dropkick, and both men are down. Johnson is
teeing off on Mack. Airplane spin by Johnson gets a near fall. They trade,
chops, slaps and kicks. Johnson kicks out of the Mack 10. This starts an AC
Sucks chant. Mack goes for another Mack 10; Johnson squirms out and flips Mack
over for the pin at 12:29.
Mack and
Johnson hug after the match. Shawn Dean comes out and into the ring. They do a
curtain call. Dean's on the mic, and thanks everyone. Dean details out his and
Johnson's history together, breaking in at WWA4 and then in AEW. Johnson's on
the mic, thanks everyone.
8. Southern Honor Championship match: David
Ali(c) with Austin Towers vs. Gunner Miller.
Some fans are singing Ali-lujah. Ali bails out of
the ring at the bell and starts the stalling tactics. Miller finally catches
Ali and drives some shoulders into Ali's gut; Ali bails out again. Ali wants
Gunner to wrestle him; that doesn't work out too well for Ali. Three incredible
suplexes send Ali scurrying out of the ring. Ali tries for a crossbody, but
Miller catches him, another suplex. Ali gets Miller in the throat and lands a
crossbody to start his offense. Ali is trying everything in the shortcut handbook
to keep Miller down. Gunner's trying to fire up, Ali catches him in a
guillotine. Ali's going for some Yes kicks, gunner hulks up and spears Ali.
Military press and Gunner dumps Ali face first. Rock Bottom by Gunner gets
Towers up on the apron, Weakley gets him down. Gunner is distracted, though,
and Ali plants him with the fireman's carry knee breaker. Cory Hollis comes out
to the ring area. Ali rushes at Gunner; Gunner catches him and tosses Ali over
the top rope onto Hollis. Towers is in the ring, and Gunner spears him. Ali
gets speared and jackhammered, but Hollis is on the ring apron, pulling Weakley
away. Gunner confronts Hollis, and Ali comes in from behind and rolls up Gunner
for the win at 16:00.
Hollis is acting distressed over Gunner's loss
and is trying to console him; Gunner stalks off. Corey is still talking to Gunner, and Mikal
Judas comes out to act as a buffer, and they leave. Logan Creed's music plays,
and he comes out to stand next to Gunner. Gunner leaves, and Creed is staring
at Towers and Ali. Ravenna Vein sneaks in from behind and low blows Ali. Creed
cuts a promo on Ali; watch the video. At the next show, it will be Logan Creed
vs. David Ali in a Bunkhouse Brawl. Show ends.
Final Thoughts.
1. Dylan was very much missed at the show. When
the cat is away...
2. Lots of storylines happening throughout the
night; maybe some might need to be trimmed up.
3. I still get chills for Gunner's entrance
video.
4.Several people didn't skip doing squats on leg
day this past month., just saying.
5. Kyle looks so different without the beard.
6. Ali must have watched a lot of Zybysko and
Simon Sermon matches.
7. Hopefully, whatever is going on with Hollis
and Gunner will be resolved soon.
8. Go and check out the picture of Hanson's
ankle; that's a palette of colors there.
9. IMO, the best match was the tag match between
The Honor Society and Technical Excellence.
10. Ben and Bull may share blood, but it's
becoming more evident by the day that they are not sharing the same book, let
alone the same page.
The RobBrod Report's Three stars of the night: 1.
David Ali. 2. The Honor Society and Technical excellence. 3. Logan Creed.
