From Rob Brodhecker:
The first-anniversary show for GEW was last month and this
month's show is the fallout from that. From what I've been able to determine
what happened at the anniversary show, Johnny Viper and Wes Blaze ran roughshod
and injured Shawn Clark’s shoulder to the point where surgery is required.
About 80 people in the crowd at American Legion Post 216, not counting infants.
Logan and Justin Law are referees tonight.
Alan Wehunt opens the show with the national anthem, the
Pledge of Allegiance, and a prayer. Alan then wants to clear some things up but
gets interrupted by Johnny Viper and Wes Blaze. Stone says that by the end of
the night, he'll be the GEW champion because Shawn Clark has retired. Wes crows
about leaving Big Smash laying in the middle of the ring, as well as Zach Malone.
Wes says that Alan will be left laying in the ring tonight as well. Stone wants
to play "make a deal" and says that Alan can lie down right now.
Big Smash’s music plays, and he comes out with Clark and
Malone. Clark's arm is in a sling and is wielding a baseball bat covered in
barbed wire in the other hand. Clark's out for blood, and Smash has to calm him
down and says that he and Malone will handle Stone and Davis tonight. Clark now
has the mic and says the doctors say he might be out for a year, but as soon as
he’s cleared, he’s coming after Viper and Blaze. Alan offers Clark the GM’s
position until he’s ready to return, and Clark accepts.
Other wrestlers come out, either protesting or in support.
Looks like a donnybrook might happen here: looks like a 6 on 6. Clark announces
that since everyone is out of the locker room, let's have a battle royal for
the contents of a bag that Alan brought into the ring. Might be cash, might be
something else. Clark tells the heels to get in the ring or go home with no
pay.
1st match: Battle Royal: Big Smash, Aaron Dallas, Brent Banner,
Zach Malone, Jess Wade, Cousin Cletus, Matt Develine, Charles Allen, John
Bishop, Johnny Viper, and Wes Blaze.
All the faces are in the ring, one heel runs in and gets
beat on. Other heels slowly enter the ring. Clark and Wes are going to be the
last to enter. Dallas is out, Devine's out, and another heel's out. Cletus is
out, someone else is out. Wes is in now but eliminates himself when Malone
spots him. Banner out with a thud. Smash is out now, looks like Malone, Wade
and Stone are the final three, Malone and Wade are getting their pound of
Stone's flesh. Malone and Stone fall over the top rope for a double elimination
and Wade is the winner at 6:03.
Wade is presented with the Undisputed GEW
Heavyweight Championship by Clark. Smash and Malone celebrate in the ring.
GEW Shawn Clark will also handle ring announcing duties for
the rest of the night.
2nd match: Charles Allen vs. Cousin Cletus.
Cletus throws out some glow sticks. Allen has to bite his
way out of a headlock. The usual Cletus shenanigans are made better with
Allen’s reactions. Allen’s turn to get some shots in, usual heel heat. Cletus’s
big splash nets him the win at 8:11.
Cletus’s WTF face when Allen chops him was totally
spectacular.
1st Intermission and Costume contest for the kids.
3rd match: John Bishop vs. Brent Banner.
Bishop stalls to open the match, jaw-jacking with the crowd,
good stuff. Test of strength, Banner slips underneath for a quick pin attempt. Eye
rake by Bishop and he starts throwing some haymakers. Nice looking sunset flip
by Banner and Bishop retreats out of the ring. More heel tactics by Bishop and
he slows the match down. Snap DDT for a near fall by Bishop. Banner kicks,
punches, then kneed Bishop in the head. Banner misses with another knee and
runs into a straight right hand. Banner dodges a rushing Bishop who goes front
first into the turnbuckles and Banner rolls him up for the win at 10:22.
After the match, Bishop rolls down the straps of his singlet
to gross out the crowd.
4th match: Aaron Dallas vs. Matt Develine.
Develine’s mother is the only one rooting for Matt and his
bald spot. Dallas has his traveling army in the house and they have words with
Matt’s mother. Dallas has a guitar solo with the arm of Develine, then a drum
solo during an abdominal stretch: Develine’s beyond frustrated. Corner splash
by Dallas followed by the A-A-Ron Punches of Doom in the corner. Back elbow
followed but a corner springboard cutter for a near fall for Develine. They
fight out on the floor; Dallas gets planted on the ring apron. Enziguri by
Dallas to get to a hope spot and hits a couple of Mjolnir’s (double ax handle) on
Develine. A Dallas near fall off of a DVD. Develine fights out of another DVD
attempt and everyone meets in the corner where the ref almost gets squashed. Develine
mule kicks in the nards in that situation and pins Dallas at 13:31.
Develine heads to the curtained-off area and we hear a chair
slam. Develine falls out from the curtain area with a chair wrapped around his
head and his father CC Develine comes out. CC reminds Matt of the deal and that
anything goes and that CC will see Matt next month.
2nd intermission and adult costume contest.
Main Event: Wes Blaze, Johnny Viper, and Torque vs. “Insane”
Zach Malone, “Cowboy” Alan Wehunt, and Big Smash Chris Cox. If Viper pins
Wehunt, he gets a chance at the GEW Championship.
Casual dress Saturday for Malone, just kidding: he’s
disqualified from every costume contest for being too realistic. Wehunt comes
bearing a bull rope with a cowbell, Smash is painted up and brings the bat from
earlier in the evening. Faces attack right on the bell, and the heels retreat
out of the ring. They try to regroup and have rock/paper/scissors to see who
will get into the ring first; Torque loses. Smash wants a test of strength,
Torque goes to the back and grabs a step-ladder, and Smash shoves him off of it.
Smash and Malone take turns punishing Torque. Dirty tricks on Smash and Blaze
takes over., Smash tags out and Wehunt gets some shots in on Torque. Smash back
in and throws his size around. Smash forces torque to tag Viper. Viper wants
Malone. Doesn’t work out well for Viper. Wehunt gets some shots in on Viper
until an eye rake and Wehunt gets trapped in the heel corner. If Viper wants
that title shot, he'll need to be in the ring to pin Wehunt.
Malone’s in after the
hot tag, but he gets cut off fairly quickly. Interesting dynamic where the
Heels can’t go for a pin until Viper’s in the ring with Wehunt; they take every
chance they can get to put the boots to Wehunt. Double team on Wehunt in the corner,
Torque tries to join in but gets knocked down by mistake. Torque’s upset and
leaves the ring and to the back. Smash and Malone wipe out Viper and have
Wehunt cover Viper for the win at 18:19.
Big pop from that win from the crowd, Blaze and Viper can
only look on in disgust at what could have been. The next show will be on Nov
26th back at Post 216.
Final thoughts:
One could almost feel sorry for Viper and Blaze with the way
things went for them tonight. Therefore, something awful must be in the works
for the faces coming up.
Methinks Jess Wade will have some interesting title
defenses coming up.
I thought Wehunt did well in the match. Torques was the
glue, IMO.
The Develine household is going to have an interesting
Thanksgiving.
There have been loads of “insane wrestling person”
personas through out the years. Zach Malone is one of the better ones out
there.
Big Smash: When he’s serious, look out.
