From Larry Goodman:
The go home show for Matter of Pride is in the books.
The lineup for ProSouth's June spectacle next Friday night is set.
Dark Passion Assassins returned to ProSouth this and gave True Grit their best match since becoming champions. True Grit will defend the tag team championship against Rebirth and DPA in a triple threat at Matter of Pride.
Caeden Ooten and Justin McKenzie soundly defeated The Process (ProSouth Champion Joe Black & Joe Wood) in a kick ass main event. McKenzie scored only his third pinfall on ProSouth TV this year.
The war between The Process and Team Haven will come to a head on multiple fronts at Matter of Pride.
Ooten will square off with Black for the ProSouth Championship next week.
Commissioner Amy Haven has booked daughter Harley in a match with the mind-controlled Tragick, who was formerly her mentor as Cameron Keast.
Though not official, Wood challenged Ace Haven to a no DQ match.
KJ Valentine, the wrestler with arguably the most interesting story arc at ProSouth, messed with Vougan's mind and will defend to All-Out Championship against him next week.
Gold Rush briefcase holder Brother Azriel was ready to cash in on Black after the main even but his tormentors in the Process left him in a comatose state.
The show was something of a production nightmare. The second half was like watching a silent movie with narration. The first half audo was plagued by the infernal Pro South Palace echo and the finish of one match was missed by the cameras.
(1) Tragick defeated LJ Borne in 2:27. Tragick's collar light started to flicker as he made his way to the ring. Under the cover of darkness, Borne hit a pescado and launched an all-out attack that had Tragick reeling. With his collar light magically readjusted, Tragick gave Borne a trio of Keast Infections. Harley Haven appeared and advanced to the ring apron. Tragick's collar glitched. Borne rolled him up. Tragick kicked out and ended Borne with Tragick Iron Knee.
This segment effectively drove home the premise of their upcoming match. Tragick can physically overpower Harley with ease but she has a decisive psychological advantage over him. Will Harley be able to free Cam from the imprisonment in which her evil mother has collared him or will she simply get her ass kicked?
Scott Adams got beaten up by Joe Wood. Adams came out with a banana and flashlight. Adams was fretting about the Process being in possession of the Haven shield. Adams used the banana like a phone and blew a dog whistle to summon Ace Haven. No luck. Wood came out with the Haven shield and said usually the bitch is not the one who blows the whistle. Wood wanted Ace in a no DQ match. Adams used the flashlight to send out a Bat-signal to summon Ace and ate a knee to the face from Wood instead. Wood choke slammed Adams on the ramp and left him laying under the shield.
Wood is leveling up. He was the cruel bad ass he needed to be to compel Ace to accept the match. The babyface turn nobody asked for has been a rocky road for Adams.
(2) Christian Garrett defeated Vougan in 5:40. As Garrett beat up Vougan, Wicked Nemesis and Mathias Darkthorne talked up the oppressive heat (90+ degrees) in the building and plugged the super chat gimmick: three superchats = a Member's Only match. Garrett pulled the straps down, looking for Glycerine. Vougan blocked it and made a leggy comeback. The lights went out...
Valentine appeared onstage acting like a clown prince would. The viewers had to take Wicked's word for it that Garrett pinned Vougan using the tights. The shot got missed.
Vougan victimized by Valentine's mind games. Vougan is quite the vocal seller. Garrett deserves a medal, a purple heart, a silver star, something.
William Huckaby interrupted Darkthorne's intro. Huck intimidated and disrespected Mathias, calling him by every first name beginning with an M except the right one. Huck issued the Will Huckaby Can You Whup Me Challenge.
Oliver Green answered the call. Huck said he liked T-Bird and did not want to hurt him so send someone else out. Green slapped Huckaby hard enough to make him wobbly-legged. Huck threw in more insults and said let's try this again. Green slapped Huck a second time. Huck grabbed the ropes to help him stay upright. Huck said Green had slapped him more in the last 45 seconds than anybody on God's green earth including his mama. Get the hell out or I'm going to beat your ass. Green slapped Huck a the third time. Huck's addled brain was enraged. Darkthorne skedaddled...
Huckaby's overselling of Green's slaps was hilarious, as hammy as it gets. Darkthorne was cracking.
(3) Will Huckaby Can You Whup Me Challenge: William Huckaby defeated Oliver Green in 5:54. Huck flew with the greatest of ease on Green's huracanrana and bumped for a clotheline from a guy half his size. But Green's blaze of glory came to a nut-crushing halt. Huck dismantled ProSouth's resident Thunder Hawk. Green wanted all the smoke and got a last gasp near fall with Code Green. Huck had Greenbeaten wih a lariat but pulled him up and pinned him with a package powerbomb.
Green picked up a mic while laying in the ring and snarled, "You hit like a bitch!" Huck rolled back in and decapitated Green with a ripcord lariat. Huck pulled Green off the mat. Green collapsed and Huck just let him be.
Match was what you readers would have expected which did not make it any less entertaining. Green has repeatedly demonstrated he's got more guts than sense. As RobBrod put it in the chat, Green has more guts than body mass.
(4) True Grit (Christian Pierce & Julian Balderas) vs. Dark Passion Assassins (Neji Ichiban & Dante Darko with Stella Randy) for the ProSouth Tag Team Championship was ruled a no contest at 9:26. No shortage of confidence on the part of DPA. A show of sportsmanship morphed into a little trash talk which led to an assisted power slap that knocked the taste out of Pierce's mouth.
Balderas pounced Darko halfway to Jacksonville and True Grit dominated Ichiban with double teams. DPA used of ProSouth's lucha tag rule set up Darko's missile dropkick hot tag entry. Darko cleaned house on Pierce, who escaped a double electric chair thingy to make the tag. Balderas did a crazy looking airplane spin/giant swing combo on DPA. Guy is as strong as an ox. As all four men rose to their feet after a quadruple down, Rebirth attacked True Grit. DPA made the save and Rebirth left with the tag team titles.
A spirited tag match filled with innovative, fun stuff, structured like a babyface match. Commentary said the crowd was split between the two teams before it was over.
Pierce said the fans just witnessed one hell of a tag team match that deserved to have a conclusion and called for a triple threat next week.
(5) Justin McKenzie & Caeden Ooten (with Harley Haven) defeated The Process (Joe Black & Joe Wood with Amy Haven) in 12:39. McKenzie and Ooten handed Wood his ass. McKenzie did a ropes-assisted Pele kick that looked amazing. Black tripped up McKenzie and the match did a 180. Darkthorne referenced Lora Loomer. I bet that's never happened on a pro wrestling broadcast before. Ooten cleaned house and was coiled for the Harpoon.
Amy got on the apron. Harley grabbed mom by the leg. Amy shoved her daughter down. Out came Tragick. He appeared to be backing Harley's but the collar was still green. Tragick knocked Harley out. Ooten went to check on Harley. Joe got the jump on him but Ooten harpooned Joe on the floor. Inside the ring, McKenzie pinned Wood with a swanton bomb.
The wrestling was really good. Everyone else levels up when they are in the match with Joe Black. A motivated Caeden Ooten is a force to be reckoned with. Any time Joe was in with McKenzie the action was compelling. McKenzie's overall game has advanced dramatically in the last six months. He's gaining traction in other places and is bullet proof at ProSouth.
Black prepared to Conchairto Ooten. Adams came on stage with the Haven shield. The lights went out. Ace Haven fired a chair at Joe from on top of the entrance way.
Enter Brother Azriel with the Gold Rush briefcase. Andrews attacked Az from behind and hit Nail In the Coffin. Black sat in a chair and watched Az writhe in agony at his feet. Andrews gave Az a second Nail in the Coffin on the chair. Joe delegated the task of delivering the Conchairto to Andrews. Az was looking decidedly comatose as Black posed him with Big Blue.
The homicidal tendency of the Process reared its ugly head. Evidently Az is going to be away for awhile, as Alexandra Quinn has been since her conchairto. I felt like I was being trolled. Andrews is a pro, no damage done, believability out the window.
