There was a lot going on at Rise to the Occasion.
Terry Yaki and Blak Jak Mak had a psychotic streetfight for Openweight Championship.
In a match that became a family affair, Renegade Enforcer defeated Skrilla the Great to retain ownership of RIPW despite all the shenanigans Tyreke could muster.
Rose Gold started and went all the way to win the Queen of the Ring gauntlet, much to Shalonce Royal's dismay.
Lamar Diggs became the inaugural Shout Out Social Media Champion. The gimmick with the new secondary title is the champion gets a title match of their choosing.
Shout out to Dee Munny's production crew and sound by dj hut. Their outstanding work made me want to be at Cagez live. Don Miguel was on commentary with A-town Supreme and Yaki sitting in on color. The individual matches are available on the RIPW YouTube Channel.
Tyreke strutted out to ring announce and was summarily fired by Renegade Enforcer for his actions at the May show. That brought Skrilla out to cancel his cage match with Enforcer for ownership of the company. Seems Skrilla had a hidden stipulation in the contract, besides which he already had a cage match the day before so rather than copy cat, Skrilla wanted to have a TLC match. Enforcer said not happening. Skrilla suggested special guest referee as the stipulation. Enforcer let Skrilla choose the ref. Skrilla chose Tyreke. Enforcer introduced Ayla Fox as the new ring announcer.
(1) Wealth (Randy Reno & Nathaniel Vanderbilt aka Southside Villains with Chayn Male) defeated Dark Passion Assassins (Dante Darko & Ichiban with Stella Randy) and Nawfside Heroes (Jose Manuel & Shoota Gabe) to retain the RIPW Tag Team Championship in 9:06. DPA went for their super duper double team finisher on Manuel. Kind of a botch but they got the job done. Wealth wrecked the pin. Manuel was easy picking for their northern lights/shooting star press combo.
Gabe shoved Manuel on his ass after the match.
(2) Terry Yaki defeated Blak Jak Mak in a Campbellton Road Street Fight to retain the RIPW Southern Openweight Championship in 12:22. Craziness. They put on quite the stunt show. Yaki DDTed BJM onto a table. Might have been the most dangerous move of the match because the legs gave way just as Yaki was executing the move. BJM gave Yaki a an avlanche gutwrench suplex through two chairs. Mak did a springboard elbow drop with a chair. Yaki gave BJM a springboard Canadian destroyer onto a bridged ladder that pretty much destroyed the both of them. For the finish, Yaki put BJM through a table on the floor with a Sabu-style springboard from a chair to the top rope flip dive and nailed it.
(3) Lamar Diggs defeated Geter to become the inaugural Shout Out Social Media Championship in 9:48, thus earning a title shot of his choosing. With Geter in a dazed condition, Diggs rolled out of the ring and a Diggs look alike (sorta) rolled in. Referee Darryl Hall looked askance but let it go. Geter german suplexed the fake Diggs with enough force to send him back out of the ring. The real Diggs blindsided Geter, then splashed him off the top rope for the three count.
(4) Leon Ruffin defeated Rico Gonzalez (with Mr. Sexy) in 11:46. Mr. Sexy came to the ring in Rico's gear so Gonzalez could jump Ruffin from behind. Rico in full on heel mode, worked over Ruffin's knee with a vengeance. Ruffin showed great heart and was hanging on by a thread. In the end, Ruffin powered out of Rico' ankle lock and won it with a springboard cutter followed by the crucifix driver.
(5) Shalonce Royal's Queen of the Ring Gauntlet Match: Rose Gold defeated Royal and Nikki Heat and Jazzy Yang and Deity in 16:19. Royal was in cruise control when Gold schoolgirled her. Royal worked over Gold's knee until Heat entered the ring. Ayla domed Heat with the mic and Gold pinned her with a Gori Bomb. Yang was next. Gold countered Yang's figure four with an inside cradle ala Flair-Steamboat. Diety was last. Royal returned for revenge and clocked Gold with her tiara. Deity planted Gold with a pumphandle slam but Gold got a shoulder up at 2.99. Gold sent Diety into Royal, who was still on the apron and leveled with a pump kick.
(6) Jay Lucas defeated Ehren Black via DQ to retain the RIPW Championship in 10:21. Black jumped the bell and put unrelenting heat on the champion with Lucas selling like he could die at any moment. Black was merciless. They were 6 minutes in before Lucas mounted an offense. Black cut him off with a Samoan drop. Lucas went all in with two topes and flip dive to the outside. He had Black pinned with the moon landing top rope elbow but Black got a foot on the ropes. Black gave Lucas a low blow right in front of referee Dana Goodman for the DQ.
Black continued to abuse Lucas after the bell. Yaki, Keelin Cole and Dark Passion Assassins made the save.
(7) Renegade Enforcer defeated Skrilla the Great with Tyreke as the special referee in 12:05. Skrilla frogsplashed Renegade. Tyreke fast counted the pin and was furious when Renegade kicked out. Renegade KOed Skrilla. Tyreke clutched his shoulder at the count of two. Renegade confronted Tyreke who slapped him across the face. Renegade's nephew jumped in the ring and clubbed Tyreke. Renegade's aunt and grandmother came to ringside and got a few licks in. Renegade put Tyreke through a table with a World's Strongest Slam, covered Skrilla and used Tyreke's limp hand to slap the mat three times.
Elation ensued.
