Match 1: “Hollywood” Hunter James vs CT Entertainment—Hard to call this a rematch when it feels more like a “Part II” of a long rivalry between two bigtime talents on the Georgia scene.
This one starts off with the both competitors trading headlocks to takeovers then the opponent using a leg scissors until the original superstar kicks out and they return to a vertical base. After this impressive athletic display it was Hunter with the early control after action spilled to the outside. Hollywood with the hard sling of CT into the turnbuckle, dropping the pride of Birmingham to the mat. James with a picture perfect snake eyes on Entertainment that garnered a 2 count. CT with a big comeback that seemed to halt once Hunter ducked a flying attack from CT where CT seemed to hit his head on the fall. A super high kick from Hunter to a flying CT lead to another victory for Hunter James.
Winner: “Hollywood” Hunter James via pinfall
Match 2: Austin Towers (c) vs Professor Pain (w/ C-Dub & Cuatro)—Austin Towers has been a thorn in the side of DSW Matchmaker Eric Adamz for the better part of the last 8 months. Professor Pain is the latest to step in to take on the giant on behalf of Adamz and to avenge Towers ruining a special moment for a Deep South superfan Buddy during last month’s show. Not to mention Austin putting his GIPW Heavyweight title on the line. Pain with the early jump on Towers with a melee of clubbing blows that had the big man on his heels in a forest of bewilderment. As he cleared the cobwebs, he quickly took over the momentum as he tossed the mat scholar from pillar to post to pillar to post and back to the pillars and posts again. Then it was the Hurt U alumni’s turn to mount some offense of his own. Towers seemed ready for this however as he scooped up the Professor for a punishing slam. Cuatro distracted Austin in an attempt to help his fellow masked friend, only to be crushed by a devastating smash from Towers. Back in the ring, Pain made one more valiant gallop at defeating the monster, only to be caught in the unbreakable grip of the Tower of Terror chokeslam for the 1-2-3 to retain his championship.
After the match, Towers continued to beat down Professor with Cuatro trying to break it up unsuccessfully. Finally, Pain’s best friend C Dub entered the fray to unleash the infamous CHICKEN STICK! Towers sidestepped C Dub’s attempt to use his family heirloom against him and takes the poultry pole for himself. “Boozerweight” Matt “Sex” Sells charges the ring, sending Towers ducking out to avoid confrontation. Sells says he should be preparing for his New Realm Title match later, instead he is out here to take care of Austin. He tells Towers that the two of them will tangle on the 27th right here at New Realm! Officials break up the fracas as Towers jawed with fans on his way to the back.
Winner—Austin Towers (and STILL GIPW Champion)
Drew “Drewski” Dickenson in the ring to promote the Deep South Wrestling show on July 19th at the Gwinnett Stripers baseball game (tickets on sale now). He is interrupted by the reigning, defending, undisputed Georgia Rooke of the Year…Jay “Alpha” Miller. Miller kept grabbing the microphone from Drew whenever he had a point to make. His main point made being how Strength In Numbers were going to take over everything and all things would run through them after tonight.
Match 3: Ryan Rembrandt vs “Boozerweight” Matt “Sex” Sells vs “Cowboy” James Storm for the New Realm Championship—Nick Patrick accompanies the brand new championship (Atlanta or Greenville, SC). Sells and Storm start the match still holding the brews they brought to the ring. Rembrandt says he does not drink, so they should get rid of those. They double team double R, sending him flying across the ring. Then Sells took over with textbook strikes and maneuvers on Rembrandt as Storm took a seat at ringside among some fans. Sells knocked Ryan to the outside. Ryan stumbled around the ring looking for a place for a breather only to cross the path of Cowboy, who promptly threw him back in the ring and re-joined the contest to the delight of the crowd. Sells is taken out by Rembrandt, Cowboy takes a turn at throwing Ryan around the ring. This leads to an attempt at the Last Call, but Ryan wisely rolls out of the ring. Rembrandt catches Sells with a slow swinging neck breaker. The Boozerweight drop Rembrandt, Cowboy drives Boozerweight head first with a skull crushing DDT for a 2 count. Storm delivers a Last Call, Sells is out, but it’s Rembrandt with the rollup of Storm for the win.
As Rembrandt is celebrating the other members of S.I.N.(DSW Champion Apollo Prince & Jay “Alpha” Miller) join him in the ring. Announcement is made that at the next New Realm show it will be Ryan Rembrandt defending his title versus Cowboy James Storm!
Winner—Ryan Rembrandt via pinfall (and NEW New Realm Champion)
Match 4: “Hoochie Daddy” Najasism vs Jacob Johnson vs Apollo Prince (c—w/ Jay “Alpha” Miller) (Deep South Heavyweight Championship)—Action hot and heavy early as Naja and Apollo team up to keep Jacob off his feet. Then he feels the rush of the cheering crowd for a powerful double clothesline! He uses his raw strength to hurl Najasism onto Prince with both sprawling to the mat. Naja’s speed gained him the upperhand however, grounding Johnson then a running dive to the outside onto Prince then scampering to the top rope for a five star frog splash to Jacob for an almost 3 count. Apollo back in the ring with impressive overhead release suplexes on both foes, getting a long 2 count on Johnson. Back on his feet JJ catches Apollo then Naja before delivering a double Jersey’s Strongest Slam to Naja and Prince! Close calls and falls followed. Miller grabs the title belt to hand to Apollo to smash Jacob…but CT Entertainment snatches it from his former stablemate! Alpha and Apollo chase CT up the entranceway, battling him into the nearby fans. As referee Paul tries to break up the brawl, it’s Naja with the spinning-tornado spear on Jacob! Referee Paul sprints to the ring to count the 1,2,3 as Alpha and Apollo turn just a bit too late to break up the pin for your “Hoochie Daddy”.
Winner—“Hoochie Daddy” Najasism (and NEW Deep South Wrestling Heavyweight Champion—2nd time)
Kaleb (with a “K”) Conley & Sal Rinauro vs DJ Smoke & Stunt Marshall (c) (Deep South Wrestling Tag Team Championships)—The last DSW Tag champs before the relaunch versus the current title holders. Conley and Rinauro holding on to the claim of never losing the titles (accurate) while Stunt and Smoke were looking to prove they are the superior team. Stunt’s new found recent fame (Party Animals/Power Slap) and Smoke’s overall crazy speedy demeanor, the current champs were rolling early. Momentum halts though after Stunt attempts The SLAP only to have his foes roll to the outside. Once back inside, the headlocks and armbars by the former champs were as crisp as the timely tags to keep the fresher man on Smoke. DJ hears the crowd build and finds some space to get a tag to Stunt for the hot tag! Stunt taking on all comers as Kaleb (w/ a “K”) gets taken down first, then Sal. Stunt with the tag back to DJ who unleashes a Guerrero-esque over the rope senton for a 2 count. More double team of Smoke follows with the edge once more going to the ring veterans. The sheer classic corner work by Conley and Rinauro was almost enough to finish off DJ. Then another wave of crowd cheers in his favor power Smoke to get a second hot tag to Marshall! More offensive prowess from Stunt leads to a Smoke frog splash. Then Conley knocked to the outside by Stunt. Rinauro goes for the win on Marshall who ducks, counters with The SLAP! Down goes Rinauro, Stunt for the cover and the win for the champs!
Winners—DJ Smoke & Stunt Marshall (to defend the DSW Tag Team Championships)
Main Event: Match 6—“Six Foot Bombshell” Gemma Jewels vs “The AP” Audrey Allen (for the NEW Deep South Wrestling Women’s Championship)—For the first time in around 40 years, Deep South will have a Women’s Champion and these two rivals would put on quite the show to contest for the crown! Long collar and elbow lockup to start, then another not quite as long but just as impressive. This let the crowd know these two were on equal ground and neither would give up anything to the other. Gemma utilized the headlock followed by a takeover to the mat. Audrey countered into a head scissors only to have Jewels spring out. Back on the feet it’s Allen with the tight grip headlock on Jewels, followed by a second rope assisted takeover of her own. It was Gemma’s turn to use a head scissors while Audrey showed her super athletic skills to spring out herself. The crowd applauded both women’s effort and abilities. Allen’s clotheslines in the corner on Gemma trailed by a running big splash had the “Six Foot Bombshell” reeling. Big elbow counter by Gemma for a 2 count. Gemma, who to this point had played it pretty straight, decided now was the time to pull Audrey’s hair to put her into yet another headlock. Allen fights out of it and both charge into each other. Referee starts to count. Audrey up first at 8, Gemma at 9. Gemma attempts to gain the upper hand, instead is grounded by Allen who implements a rather impressive bulldog choke that even Jon Moxley would applaud. Gemma is screaming in agony as the powerful arms of Allen are closing even more around her like a tightening vice. Part of the crowd cheers Gemma on, part look worried, while the rest think this could be Audrey’s moment of glory. After many excruciating minutes that might feel like forever to Jewels pass, she find the ropes for a break of the hold. The look on Audrey’s face tell the story that even she knows it was so close to being concluded. As Allen looked to find another road to victory, Gemma locks in a shoulder lock that ties Audrey in a knot. After it being locked in for so much time, Allen decides to live to fight another day and taps to end the match and pain she is in.
After the match, Nick Patrick presents the new title to Gemma who is showered with affection from the fans as she celebrates becoming the new Women’s Champion of Deep South Wrestling.
Winner—Gemma Jewels (and NEW Deep South Wrestling Women’s Champion)
Takeaways:
-Naja’s sneaky win over the current and former champion was one of the best booking decisions in a good bit for the title as he is not associate with S.I.N. nor is he aligned with Johnson (or anybody for that matter). This officially begins “HoochieMania” in Deep South.
-Rembrandt winning the New Realm (TV) Championship is a great accomplishment. One that he will be tested at every show to defend. As the only title holder of S.I.N., how does this sit with fellow stable mates “Alpha” Miller and Apollo Prince?
-Valiant effort from Professor Pain to try to stop Austin Towers constant disrespect. Can Matt Sells be the one to finally topple the giant next month?
-Seeing Conley & Rinauro back for a DSW match was awesome. They understand the history of Deep South and how important it can be to push on to new heights. They were more than willing to return one more time. Kudos to them.
-Audrey Allen had a heroic performance as for the past year and a half only T Gainz was able to top Gemma for a pinfall (in one of the coldest matches ever mind you). You can feel a natural chemistry and heat between Gemma and Audrey that can only lead to a must-see rivalry anytime they lock up.
