The first Southern Fried show of the post-Todd Sexton era is in the books.
Show quality was very good. Crowd size was not good at all.
Hunter James and Chianne Michaels are now embroiled in a feud with Jacob Ashworth and John Johnson.
Nick Halen has his hands full as the Southern Fried Champion. Ashworth, James, Disturbed and five-time champion Judas are swarming around his title.
Bad news for the Approved: Consanity is now a trio with the addition of Mother Frost.
This company has entered a challenging period of time. Todd or no Todd, college football season has not been Southern Fried's friend. It can't help that 1FW is running the Grizzle Beer brewery in downtown Monroe tonight with Southern Fried's Last Stand of Summer event being tomorrow night at the Walton County Boy and Girls Club Gym.

Adam Vance and Blake Blackwell on the call. Ring announcer: Chianne Michaels. Refs were Dee Byers, Bryan Waites and David Weakley. Jay Shaw and Hayden Weakley on the rover cameras.
Nick Halen opened the show with the weight of the Southern Fried world on his shoulders. Friend or foe, he did not care, any contender that wanted his title so bad could come pry it out of his cold, dead hands.
James made his way to the ring. He appreciated Halen taking him under his wing and gave Nick credit for helping him to reach his potential BUT he was the youngest champion in Southern Fried history AND he was in the number one contenders' match later in the evening AND he wanted that title back.
The appearance of Disturbed advancing towards the ring created a stir and brought Southern Fried officials out quell the disturbance.
Out came Judas. He said someone was missing and that someone was the five-time Southern Fried Champion. To become the number one contender, James or Disturbed would have to beat him and that was not happening.
As Halen was heading up the aisle, he encountered Ashworth on his way to the ring. They locked eyes. Ashworth blew James a kiss and circled the ring. James and Chianne were trapped inside. Southern Fried owner David Manders stepped in to allow James and Chianne to safely exit the ring.
The segment was meticulously staged and a great way to wet appetites for the number one contenders' match. Ashworth sniffing around the ring, oozing menace, was one of the highlights of the show. He's no longer the champion but his act with JJ and scumbag Seabolth has retained all of its heat and he is the undisputed top dog of Southern Fried heels. Like Jacob Johnson, Shalonce Royal, Dax Anthony at the height of CEW heel run, Ashworth is totally despicable, there's nothing cool about him.
(1) Brick Slaughterhouse (JT Paradox & Herculon Rage) defeated Jacob Ashworth & Xander Seabolt (with John Johnson) in 10:41. James was on commentary. The heels got heat on Paradox. JJ got pissed about James openly rooting for Paradox and sicked Ashworth on him. While Ashworth was messing with James, Rage cleaned house and Brick Slaughterhouse smoked Seabolt with a spinwheel kick/german suplex combo.
Ashworth threw stuff in furious anger after the match.
The split screen for the finish was a nifty production touch by Adam Vance. Good action. Good to see Brick Slaughterhouse get a win in their debut. Paradox passed on glaring opportunities to go for a tag.
(2) "Forever Faithful" Ashton Martin defeated RC Daniels in 6:56. Pre-match, Martin pledged his allegiance to Alexander Lev. Martin won with the XTC aka Move That Rocked the World aka Ghanarea.
Martin and Lev is a great pairing. Martin has star potential.
(3) The bell never rang for SFCW Tag Team Champions The Approved (Adrian Hawkins & Bobby Moore) vs. Consanity (Sal Rinauro & Michael Stevens). Consanity met Approved at the entrance way. A wild, all-over-the-place brawl was shown on a split screen. The action eventually moved inside the ring. Moore decked referee Waites. Approved got the upper hand. They took Stevens out with a Hart Attack and were set up for a Shatter Machine on Sal when the debuting Mother Frost pulled Hawkins out of the ring and posted him.
Frost laid Hawkins out with Sister Abigail and stabbed Moore in the throat with his antlers. Moore had blood coming out of his mouth and had to be helped to the back.
Frost is a perfectly twisted fit as a new member of Consanity.
(4) Seth Delay (with Matt Hankins) defeated Von Milla in 6 minutes. Milla said to be a 1FW guy. He blew Delay's doors off with a suicide tope before the bell and dominated. Delay was flopping around like a fish out of water. Miller missed a kneedrop off the top. Delay was all over it.
Hankins got on the mic. They had suitcases that had been around longer than Milla. His body was now telling his brain he made a mistake by coming here. Delay picked up the win with the cradle DDT.
Hankins channeling a bit of Gary Hart by employing psychological intimidation. Love him as Delay's mouthpiece. No question about Milla's physical tools. His selling needs work.
Classics Champion Dominic Stuckey confronted Delay and Hankins. He was dismayed that Delay traded all the love and respect of the Southern Fried fans for Hankins. Dom threw the Classics belt down and dared Delay to pick it up. Being a fighting champion, Stuckey offered to fight Delay on the spot. Hankins tantalized the crowd and said the match would happen when they were good and ready.
A nice piece of business. The Hankins/Stuckey story is too juicy to have ended at Shindig. Dom is still the darling of the Southern Fried fans.
(5) Seth Stephens upset Billy Buck in 5:15. Buck appeared to have the situation well in hand when Stephens toppled Buck over with a twisting leap off the ropes and scored a crucifix pin. Weakley had to restart his count because he saw Buck's foot in the ropes.
The finish was nothing to write home about. The upside of this shocking outcome was not readily apparent but something is being cooked up.
(6) Disturbed defeated Judas and Hunter James to become the number one contender for the Southern Fried Championship in 10:30. Judas speared the bejeezus out of Disturbed and choke slammed James on top of him. Disturbed grabbed the ring bell off the timekeeper's table. Judas was about to choke slam Disturbed when Jaden Vain's music played. Disturbed clobbered Judas with the bell. Ashworth showed up and shoved James off the top rope. Disturbed hit his choke slam on James to become the new number one contender. Judas choke slammed Disturbed and departed.
Vance called it a whole lot of nonsense. The last ride of Sexton Alliance led the Southern Fried faithful to believe Judas was done with Jaden Vain.
Seabolt attacked James. Ashworth and Seabolt beat James down. The camera cut to Chianne Michaels in tears. Ashworth called James a fake pretty boy and said he was going to make a mockery of him in front of his girlfriend.
Ashworth pounded James with the mic. JJ whipped James with a belt. Chianne got in the ring to help Hunter. JJ threatened to whip Chianne. Ashworth stopped him, then kissed her on top of the head before departing.
Serious heat angle here, revisiting what that snake JJ did to Chianne months ago.
(7) Nick Halen defeated Bryce Cannon to retain the Southern Fried Championship in 14:01. Old style championship match. Halen controlling with a side headlock. Halen went after The Tip. Cannon snapped Halen's arm over the top rope. The disintegration of Halen's arms became the story of the match. Pele kick by Halen and both men were down. Major Halen rally but Cannon foiled the Gamebreaker. Could have sworn Cannon used a variation of Zach Mosley's Wheel of Fortune. Halen's planted Cannon with the Gamebreaker but Cannon had feet in the ropes. Twisted Tea by Cannon for two. Cannon went to a Fujiwara armbar. Halen got to the ropes. Halen nipped up, kneed Cannon in the face and pinned him with a classic Shawn Michaels top rope elbow drop.
I totally enjoyed this match between two of Georgia's more cerebral wrestlers. The ambience of the venue took the match down several notches.
Halen had to fight off that masked, furniture-throwing lunatic of a number one contender Disturbed after the match. Halen took a seat in the middle of the ring after the match. After the night he'd had, I could not blame him one bit.
