For Puerto Rico's oldest wrestling promotion, World Wrestling Council, their 52nd Anniversary Show was another successful event in the history books. On that night, new champions were crowned. In the kickoff match, Brandon the Skater beat JC Jexx to become the new WWC World Junior Heavyweight Champion. "El Ultimo Hermano" Nick Mercer, who, after he left the rival promotion IWA Puerto Rico earlier this spring, became the newly crowned WWC Caribbean champion, defeating "El Hombre de la Revolucion" Zcion RT1 in a bloody street fight. Joe Anthony became the new WWC Puerto Rican champion, beating Washington Heights, Manhattan's own and now former champ, Tony Leyenda, and "El Patron" Alberto Del Rio's younger brother, the former Memo Montenegro himself, El Hijo de Dos Caras, in a triple-threat match. And finally, the leader of El Nuevo Orden, Xavant, once again became WWC Universal Champion, beating the now former Universal champion, the hated "El Chico Ilegal" Chicano, once again former WWE Superstar, Carlito Caribbean Cool, and one-half of the TNA World Tag Team Champions, Matt Hardy in a fatal-four way match. Throughout the event, there were surprising betrayals, as well as the dedication ceremonies. This year's WWC Anniversary Show was dedicated to the memory of Julio Estrada, "Mr. Hardcore" Rico Suave, who passed away earlier this spring due to a heart attack from complications of diabetes and an amputated leg. The award was given to the Estrada family. Jose Estrada, Sr. (who in WWC's golden years as an NWA member promotion until 1988 and throughout the early 1990s was El Super Medico), and his sons, including Jose Estrada. Jr.(who teamed up with his father in WWC during the early 1990s, then in 1992 was El Vigilante during his stay in the promotion at the time, and as the founding member of Los Boricuas in WWE's Attitude Era, formed by Savio Vega with Miguel Perez, Jr, and the retired Jesus Castillo back in 1997, when Vega was thrown out of The Nation of Domination, leading to The Gang Wars between Farooq's gang, Los Boricuas, The Disicples of Appocalypse led by the late "Crush" Bryan Adams with The Harris Boys (Skull and 8 Ball), and Chainz Brian Lee, The Truth Commission led by now current AEW manager, Don Callis at the time and of course the war between The Hart Foundation against a then newly formed Degeneration-X led by WWE Hall of Famers and current runners, Triple H and Shawn Michaels, that what led to WWE's renewed gameplan against WCW throughout the Monday Night Wars back then.) and the lifetime achievement award to Dr. Hector Gonzales for his over fifty-year career of service. Which leads to its upcoming fall event, Septiembre Negro (Black September) on Saturday, September 20th, back in Bayamon, only this time it will be at the legendary Jose Pepin Cestero Arena in that town. With the Main Event announced, Xavant will defend the WWC Universal Championship against Trevor Murdoch, who returns not only to Puerto Rico but returning to WWC after seventeen years since his appearance at the promotion's 35th Anniversary Show, back in 2008, Murdoch was released from WWE at that time, an alumni student of the late WWE Hall of Famer, Harley Race, (who is no stranger to WWC Puerto Rico, when he was the NWA World Heavyweight Champion throughout the early 1980s until 1983 in the promotion's Tenth Anniversary Show and in early 1984, Six years later, Race was WWC Caribbean Champion for a while.) Murdoch became a two-time NWA World Champion and is currently teaming with former WWE and TNA star, Mike Knox, who both hold the NWA World Tag Team Championships. They also won the Crockett Cup just two years ago. Murdoch and Knox appeared in this year's Crockett Cup Tag Team tournament throughout this summer from the 2300 Arena (ECW Arena) in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. At Septiembre Negro, will Xavant retain the title? Or will Trevor Murdoch win the WWC Universal Championship that night and leaving Puerto Rico with it as part of his title wins from the past, such as the WLW World and Tag Team Championships, three-time WWE Raw brand's first version of the World Tag Team Championships he held with the late Lance Cade, and as previously mentioned, held the NWA World Heavyweight title twice, NWA World Tag Team title, and NWA National Heavyweight Championship. While even defending it at any NWA Power Television tapings, NWA live events, and even at any of the NWA member territory promotions' live events as well. which, by the way, World League Wrestling, owned by Race from Eldon, Missouri, has now been an NWA member territory promotion since this spring. Bell time at 8:05 PM.
