Since 2026 began, IWA Puerto Rico has been on a tear. On Saturday, February 21st, the promotion's upcoming event, Vendetta, will be live from the Victor Marchand Arena in Vega Alta. Where "The Falcon' Jay Blake will defend the IWA Puerto Rico World Heavyweight Championship against an opponent sent by IWA Puerto Rico president and WWE Legend, 'El Boricua Mayor" Savio Vega. Vega, who has a deep-rooted hatred towards Blake since late 2025, is also having internal conflict with Fernando Tonos and the promotions' Board of Directors on both having to wrestle again and on financial mishaps. Also on that night, in their first appearance on the Island, Matty Ice and "Nasty" Nic Nolan will challenge the current IWA World Tag Team Champions, Edrax Torres and Mascara Pura, for the titles. Ice and Nolan are longtime rivals as well as tag team partners throughout Chicago's Indy Wrestling promotions, such as Galli Lucha, AAW, and NWA Chicago. even as far as every Indy Wrestling promotion throughout the Midwest, such as Zero One USA. Matty Ice was trained by WWE Hall of Famer and five-time WCW World Champion, Booker T's Reality of Wrestling in Houston, Texas. While Nic Nolan was trained in WWE Raw Superstar Seth Rollins' Black and Brave Academy in Davenport, Iowa Both wrestling schools are a part of the WWE ID program.
