Peachstate Wrestling Alliance presents the 11th Anniversary show: Rags to Riches at the VFW Fairgrounds, Carrollton.
At least 9 matches scheduled for a hot and sweaty night in Carrollton Ga. Almost all the ringside seats are filled for the HOF ceremony for Bull Buchanan at 7 pm. Paid attendance is announced at 258. I'm really looking forward to the Sal Rinauro/Shane Marx match for the PWA Heritage title as the storylines can go in multiple directions going forward. Ben Buchanan, son of Bull Buchanan, will be making his West Georgia wrestling debut, and a new PWA Women's champion will be crowned as well.
"Fast" Eddie Layne and Jason Boyd will be on commentary with Jason also handling ring announcer duties. Brian Green will be videotaping the ladies matches for his site wpnwrestling.com. Darryl Hall, "Mad Mad" Mason Pike, and Bucky are your referees tonight.
Boyd and PWA Commissioner Tommy TooMuch open the show, and Tommy calls out all 6 of the ladies who will be competing to the ring. Crystal Rose, Megyn Moxley, Sara Dox, Taylor Rae, and Brooklyn Creed come out. Brooklyn Creed got the biggest pop on her entrance. Tommy shows off the title and reminds us that it's been vacant for a year. 2 triple threat matches with the winners scheduled to meet later on and the first match start now.
This is Brooklyn's match to lose, and she starts off like a house on fire. All 3 are on the outside for a moment then all 3 back inside with Mox and Doxx stomping on Brooklyn. A temporary alliance at that. I believe that this is Brooklyn's first match back after her leave of absence. Brooklyn wins at 3:17 with a front Russian Leg Sweep. A little bit of ring rust for Brooklyn, but Brooklyn's opponents didn't do her any favors: C+.
Marco Wicker vs. "Lights" Cameron Action
Hassan had a wardrobe issue, and he vacated the ring and then attacked Action when Action entered the ringside area. They are fighting ringside with Mason trying to get them inside. The match finally starts, and after a minute of Action's offense, Wicker wrenches the arm of Action over the top rope and Wicker starts working it over. Marko locks in an arm submission and Action is forced to tap at 7:19. Some people were booing, and some people were cheering for Marco, a mixed reaction to be sure: B-.
DeWitt Dawson comes out with the mic and asks for Tommy TooMuch to come to the ring. Dawson asks Tommy to make the main event a No DQ match to discourage anyone from running into the ring and interfering like what happened at last time the Heritage title was defended. Tommy asks the crowd, and the PWA Faithful agrees, the main event will now be a No DQ match.
1/2 of the Southern Mafia, Johnny Rage vs. 1/2 of Beauty and the Beast, Nate Wylde (with Ethan Cage)
Card subject to change time. This was supposed to be a tag match between Southern Mafia and Beauty and the Beast, but Greg Dotson isn't here. Rage just did a handspring backflip off the ropes! Barely but he got through it! A wicked spine buster by Rage would make AA proud. Rage wins at 6:39. Have to admit, I am impressed by Rage in this match. Totally not expecting that: B.
2nd triple threat match: Crystal Rose vs. Andie Ripley vs. Taylor Rae
Rose takes a powder early to let the fan favorites battle it out. Rose finally enters and tosses Ripley out of the ring to attack Rae. Rose and Ripley are battling it out now. Rae breaks up a couple of pin attempts. Rose wins at 4:50 with a surfboard knee stomp to the back of Ripley's head after Rose takes Rae out with a kick to the back of Rae's head. A better match than the match: B.
Gunner Daniels vs. Ben Buchanan
Ben is a big'un and only just turned 18, and he's 6'5 and a solid 243 lbs. Not familiar with Daniel but he has to resort to shenanigans to gain an advantage on the bigger Buchanan. Buchanan wins with a tilt a whirl sidewalk slam at 7:58. Marco runs in and starts attacking Ben, and that brings out PWA HOF'er Bull Buchanan. Looks like Ben will have his first feud here at PWA. As for the match itself, I have to give it a C. There were a couple of rests that occurred that wouldn't have typically occurred in other matches. My best guess is that they happened to talk out something, I could be wrong. Ben is the proverbial blue chipper.
P-Dogg vs. Michael Stevens in a Microphone on a Pole match
P-Dogg comes out with his battle rap title belt. The mic is actually strapped to the scaffolding suspended above the ring. "Jump Around" by House of Pain starts Stevens' dancing comeback. The comeback ends as Stevens' was climbing the turnbuckles and P-Dogg trips him up. Stevens' grabs the mic for the win at 10:05. Stevens has Bull Buchanan comes out to choose a song for P-Dogg to dance to. "YMCA" plays and P-Dogg has to dance to it. Dear lord, the crowd is dancing to it as well. The trainwreck appeal bumps this to a B+.
Intermission
The Alliance(C) (Romeo and CB Suave with Stevie) vs. Ace Haven and Shane Noles (with Amy Haven) for the PWA Tag Team Titles
Ace and Shane attack the Alliance as the Alliance is exiting the curtains, CB and Shane are fighting at ringside and Romeo and Ace are out in the crowd. Ace lays Romeo across a table that's near the restrooms and Ace climbs up on top of the separating wall and leaps, but Romeo moves and Ace crashes onto the table. Shane has to fight 1 on 2. Shane makes a hot tag off of a power slam on Romeo. Ace goes up top, but Romeo distracts Bucky so CB can knock Ace off the turnbuckle. The crowd is the loudest it has been all night. Romeo has a wicked looking laceration on his left chest/shoulder. A tag to Shane but Stevie distracted Bucky. Ace is able to dropkick both CB and Romeo off the ring apron to make the hot tag to Shane. Shane gets a near fall on Romeo, but CB lays out Shane. Stevie is up on the apron again, and Amy pulls her down then Stevie and Amy exchange some words. CB gets in between them and Ace dives on all three. Shane tries to german suplex Romeo but Romeo grabs Bucky's shirt and with Bucky tied up, Romeo reverse kicks Shane in the nards and pins Shane at 13:28. The crowd is highly displeased with the outcome and is vocal about it. B+.
Battle of the Beasts: Bill the Butcher vs. The Deadly Sin Se7en
Bill is a familiar face to the PWA faithful, and I believe it's Se7en's first time here. Not sure if they have faced each other before in other promotions. Bill shoves Se7en over the ring steps, and the brawl is on, There is no clear cut good guy/bad guy here, just two men beating the stuffing out of each other. Bill tries to use his chain, but Se7en moves. Darryl has given up trying to get them in the ring and has started a 10 count. They break the count but still continue to fight outside. Se7en back body drops Bill onto the concrete with a sickening thud. They finally get into the ring. After a couple of exchanges and kicks, Se7en is able to chokeslam Bill for the victory at 5:53. Se7en walks off with Bill's chain; B-.
PWA Women's Title match: Crystal Rose vs. Brooklyn Creed
Crystal lays in wait for Brooklyn to make her entrance and manages to sneak up on Brooklyn. In the ring, Brooklyn is chopping away at Crystal's chest. Crystal rolls up Brooklyn with a handful of tights to win the PWA Women's Title at 4:28. C+.
PWA Heritage Title match with No DQ: Shane Marx (with DeWitt Dawson) vs. Sal Rinauro (C)
The no DQ stip leads me to believe that there will be some shenanigans at the end of the match, we'll see. The crowd is about evenly split between the two men. Sal tries to shoulder tackle Shane a couple of times to no avail. The feeling out period lasts about 4 minutes and ends with a near fall on Sal. Sal's calling for the superkick and Shane ducks it. Sidewalk Slam by Shane gets a 2 and 7/8ths count. Shane sets up for a superplex, and Sal fights out of it, and CB and Romeo hit the ringside area, and Sal dives on them, Marco follows and sets Sal up for a Crucifix. Shane Pulls Sal out of it and decks Marco. DeWitt is able to get Marco back to the back.
Sal and Shane are trading haymakers in the middle of the ring. A spinning heel kick by Sal nets a near fall on Shane. Sal is targeting the left arm of Shane. Shane converts an armbar into a Spicoli driver, but Sal kicks out. Both men are on the ring apron, and Sal wants to do a Pedigree, but Shane reverses it into a backdrop on the ring apron. With Sal in the ring, Shane tries a backflip from outside, and Sal gets his knees up. Both men are barely able to get their respective should up on pin attempts. Shane kicks out of Sal's finisher.
Sal looks frustrated. Sal moves in, but Shane catches him in a series of moves that ends with a standing moonsault for a near fall. Both men are slow to get up at the 19-minute mark. Sal locks in a single Boston Crab, but Shane is able to reverse it into a cross face. Sal tries for the ropes, but Shane rolls him over into the center of the ring maintaining the hold. Sal gets out of it and decks Shane. Both men are back down. Both men are up and are nose to nose and start trading fists. Shane lands a front DDT but can only get 2. The crowd is still split. Sal is dead weight right now but is able to get Shane over for a near fall. Brainbuster by Shane and he pins Sal but Sal's foot went under the ropes, and the Hall restarts the match. Shane clobbers Sal with a glass bottle and Shane pins Sal at 25:19.
A+. New PWA Champion Shane Marx. DeWitt's on the mic and says that his real name is Matthew Hankins and he will rebuild his empire here in PWA. A lot of the crowd is cheering and clapping for the new champ.
