From VPW:
The biggest Viral Pro Wrestling event of the year, Infection IV kicked off with an estimated 400 in attendance at the Sweetwater Park Gym, as well as the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, The Dog Pound Collectibles, Stovall Wrestling Network, Suplexes and Microphones Podcast, and Jeffrey Show Live!
The opening match featured a Fatal Four Way ladder match for the VPW Tag Team Championship, with The Gymnasty Boys defending against The Lynch Mob, The International Superstars, and The Ugly Ducklings. This match was insane! Joey Lynch hit a moonsault off of a ladder to the outside, Blanco loco ran up a ladder to flip into the rest of the competitors, and the superstars also put Lance Lude through a pile of chairs from the top rope. The Dream Girl Ellie and Coach Mikey both got involved in the match and were put through a table. The Superstars win ultimately came with the help of Owen Knight, who helped a broken Blanco Loco ascend the ladder, making the International Superstars your new Viral Pro Wrestling Champions.
Backstage, longtime friend Cody Fluffman tells Sean Legacy that he has his back tonight if anyone gets involved in the main event.
Next up was AC Mack making his debut against Lance Anoa'i. General Manager PJ Synenberg came out and announced that a third competitor had been added to the match. Tracer X makes his VPW return to a big pop, ultimately winning the match to the delight of the fans.
Chris Silvio retained his momentum at Viral as of late, defeating Rey Fury in a match some excellent storytelling. The live audience seemed to still be recovering from the ladder match earlier in the night but this contest got them back into the show. Chris Silvio has set his sights on the Outbreak Championship and is likely one step closer.
Coach Mikey makes his way to the ring to a big hometown pop. He announces that he is having a party in Augusta GA on August 24th and invites everyone to come to this event: Mikey Gulino's Summer of Quack. He states that the Ducks will be there, the Gymnasty boys, and then one more. The lights go dark and a video appears with an AEW logo. The audience reacted immediately, but then popped huge for the announcement that Christopher Daniels of SCU will be on the 8/24 card!
The Dream Girl Ellie and Kaci Lennox finally faced each other 1 on 1, Kaci Lennox having the full support of the VPW fans. Ellie ultimately won via submission, continuing The Unknown's winning streak.
A promo video plays announcing current NWA (and formerly Impact) superstar Eli Drake for 8/24.
Owen Knight defended the Outbreak Championship up next against Saieve Al Sabah. This match delivered on all cylinders and had been anticipated for a long time. Owen waited for Saieve to make a mistake and capitalized to retain via pinfall.
Brett Wolverton takes us to a 15 minute intermission. Other notable Georgia/Carolina talent in the building tonight: Jacob Ryan, Drew Adler, Zuka King, Ashton Starr, Chance Rizer, Mykala Hudson, and Shane Dorr
Up next, CSRA native and Evolve Superstar Anthony Henry would attempt to capture the NWA National Title from Cowboy James Storm. Storm is over HUGE with the Viral audience despite Henry's hometown advantage. Storm has become a staple of Viral's anniversary events and the crowd was happy to see him retain via a superkick.
Before the main event, PCW announcer Elliot Poston announced the Unsanctioned Match between James Johnson and Wade Adams. This match took several turns no one expected, including Wade Adams coming to the ring in hockey gear to protect himself, which Johnson slowly was able to remove the protective gear and then unleash his full arsenal on Adams. When Adams refused to stay down, Johnson brought in a large bag of thumbtacks, but Adams reversed a cutter and Johnson landed in the tacks, almost losing the match. He was able to get the best of Adams in the end, forcing a submission by pressing Adams' face into a steel chair covered in thumbtacks. Post-match, Johnson gives Adams one last chance to shake his hand. When he refused, the lights went out and when they came back on, Johnson was nowhere to be found, with Salem Sinner Sixx standing in his place. Sixx chokeslammed Adams through a table before leaving the ring.
A video package for the main event played before both challenger and champion made impressive special entrances. Legacy entered in full darkness besides a double bladed lightsaber, revealing full Darth Maul bodypaint. Lockhart would enter to new theme music with his entire faction in tow.
The Unknown surrounded the ring, but before the match could begin, VPW Owner Joshua Hancock banned the entire group from ringside. He also added the stipulation that if any one of them got involved in the match, Darius would forfeit the VPW Championship.
Legacy had the audience in the palm of his hand for this entire bout, managing to still deliver even after the seven matches beforehand. This match concluded near the four hour mark of the event, with the crowd still hot for Legacy. Darius would eventually slap the referee to disqualify himself, with Legacy begging the referee to let it slide and continue the match. Post-match, Legacy lays into Lockhart, but The Unknown takes Legacy down. Cody Fluffman comes out to help but is outnumbered. Finally, James Storm, The Ugly Ducklings, Chris Silvio, James Johnson, and others rush to their aid. The Unkown is run off but Blanco Loco doesn't make it out of the ring. He attempts to have a beer with Storm before receiving a Stunner. A beer party ensues.
Viral Pro Wrestling returns to Augusta GA on 8/24 at the Warren Road Community Center, and then back to Sweetwater Gymnasium in Thomson, GA on October 12th. Tickets for the 8/24 event are on sale now at vpw.ticketbud.com.
