From Rob Brodhecker:
Former SFCW Champion, Ike Cross, makes his return to SF to help out Alan Angels in a Monroe Street Fight against Angel's arch-nemesis, David Ali and CT Keys.
Donnie Howell, Radar Martin, and David Weakley are your refs.
My attendance count at the Walton County Boys and Girls Club came up with 264.
Rick Richards brings out David Manders. Manders welcomes the crowd. He pumps the crowd about Ike Cross's return and turns the mic over to Richards.
Tyler Rivera vs. Xander Ramon
Ramon's heel turn a while back seems like it's still in the percolation stage. Ramon manhandles Tyler after about a minute of opening offense from Tyler. The crowd is making some noises but seems largely apathetic thus far. Comeback by Tyler and Ramon rolls out of the ring. Tyler hits one dive, but Ramon catches him on the other and drives Tyler into the ring apron and barricade. Ramon goes for a pin but stands up before the three count. Ramon wraps Tyler's leg around his neck and stretches Tyler out for the submission at 5:10. Grade: a decent match, but the crowd wasn't awake C-
Marvelous Michael Stevens vs. Matt "Sex" Sells
Stevens comes out dressed in all black. Richards asks him how Sal Rinauro is doing, Stevens says that Sal will address SFCW in two weeks. Sells gets a good pop from the crowd as he wanders around the ring in the audience. He blows himself up with several antics. Sells asks for the mic. Sells promos himself to Billy Buck to become Buck's tag team partner and dedicates the match to Buck. Sells takes a drink, and Stevens tries to schoolboy him, but Sells no-sells it. Sells is wrestling with his drink in his hand. Sells blows himself up again, doing the face plant spot. Stevens takes over on offense, targeting Sells' midsection. They fight ringside, with Sells meeting the ring post. Sells makes it back in the ring at the count of 9. Stevens again to the midsection, Sells trying to come back. Sells lands the Jushin Thunder Lager palm strike for a near fall. Sells hits the cutter, but Stevens kicks out. Sell catches Stevens in the stunner, but Stevens rolls out of the ring. Sells goes to take a drink, and Stevens clips him from behind and pins Sells at 8:45. The crowd was giving Stevens grief as he exited the ring area and gave Sells a round of applause. Sell is now 0-79-1. Grade: The crowd woke up for the match and is buying what Sells is selling, B-.
Brooklyn Creed vs. Good Sister Payton Blair (with sister Lizzy Blair)
Payton is from TN, and she got a decent reaction from the crowd. Brook rolls out the ring to slow down Payton's momentum. Brook kicks Lizzy out, and after Payton checks on her, Brook lays out Payton with the B.I.B. combo for the victory at 4:24. Lizzy tries to go after Brook, but Brook catches her and lays her out as well. Security has to help the sisters to the back. Grade: I don't think I've seen the Blair twins before. Not sure what the program is here, C-.
Todd Sexton comes out and reminds everyone that Buck has until the 15th to announce a new tag partner to defend the tag titles against the Approved. Todd brings out the injured Josey Quinn. Quinn comes out in street clothes to a round of applause. Quinn addresses his injury and vacates his half of the tag titles. Portions of the crowd were up on their feet for him.
Sells comes staggering out and wants to talk to Quinn. He tries weasel Quinn to get Buck to choose Sells as his tag team. Quinn asks the audience if they want to see Sells as Buck's partner, and the crowd responds in the positive. Quinn says that he likes a little bit of crazy and will put in a word on Sells' behalf. Sells is ecstatic, believing that he will soon be one-half of the tag champs. The Approved come out as Sells is leaving, and Hawkins tells the Approved to take care of Sells. They attack Sells and leave him prone on the concrete.
The Approved (Bobby Moore & Rob Adonis, & Adrian Hawkins) vs. Master and Machine (Marcus Kross & Griff Garrison) and Stryk Nyn in a 6-man tag match
Adriana chants echo around the building. Adonis has a spray bottle and tries to extinguish the flames on Stryk's glove. The action starts right off with a melee and spills out of the ring. The Approved isolate Kross. Another melee occurs, ending with the face team sending the Approved out of the ring. Griff and Hawkins square off; Griff powers Hawkins around the ring. Stryk is in, and he slaps the taste out of Hawkins' mouth. A triple team on Hawkins in the corner. Moore is in and gets taken down. Stryk gives all the members of the Approved consecutive belly to back suplexes. Approved's chicanery turns the tide on Stryk, and he takes the heat. Frequent tags by the Approved. Stryk fighting back but gets cut off. Surprise dropkick by Stryk and hot tag to Griff. Griff goes on the Approved. Goodman Bomb on Adonis for a near fall. Adonis eats an F5 from Stryk, but Moore pulls him towards the Approved corner. Hawkins comes in and gives Kross and Griff Codebreakers, and he pins Griff at 17:44. Grade: The Approved looked strong going into the next show where they will challenge for the Southern Fried tag titles against Billy Buck and presumably Matt Sells, B+
Intermission.
Josh Powers vs. MCM
Powers powers MCM around the ring in the opening minutes, but MCM goes uptempo for about 30 seconds before Powers pop up powerbombs him for the win at 1:53, C+
Powers is on the mic and says that he came to SFCW for some competition. He issues an open challenge to the locker room. Thunder issues from the speakers, and the crowd gets on their feet for Mikal Judas.
Josh Powers vs. Mikal Judas
Powers is talking trash and tells Radar to ring the bell. He attacks Judas as Judas was taking his coat off. Powers does his Shamus impersonation, clubbing forearms with Judas in the ropes. Judas is trying to fight back but gets cut off. Powers is really showing out on Judas. Judas fights back with some haymakers. They trade blows, with Judas getting the better of it, and he chokeslams Powers for a pin attempt. They got back to trading shots in the middle of the ring. Powers tries to bounce off the ropes, but Judas trips him up and submits him with a single leg crab at 6:21. Grade: After seeing Powers at some SF 2019 shows, watching him go toe to toe with Judas was impressive. Kudos, B+
Judas welcomes Powers to Ga. Judas says that in 2 weeks, he'll be winning the title from Logan Creed in this building. Brooklyn comes out asking who the hell Judas thinks he is. She gets in the ring and gets in Judas' face and slaps him. Judas stares at her, and she beats a hasty retreat. The Good Sisters run out and shove Brook back into the ring. Judas says that he doesn't hit women, so he grabs her and chokeslams her. Well, he didn't hit her if you want to split hairs. He thanks Brook for bringing out the title and that he'll see her husband in two weeks. Judas exits out into the crowd.
Main Event -- Tag Team Monroe Street Fight: David Ali & CT Keys vs. Alan Angels & Ike Cross. If Angels & Cross win, Angels gets a rematch with Ali for the Classics Championship
The crowd gives Ike a huge pop. Ali cuts a promo while on the back bleachers. Cross and Angels run out to attack. The teams fight out in the crowd, eventually making their way to the ring and the match officially starts. For a lot of the action, I will refer people to the Southern Fried Fan page as the action is all over the place. Suffice to say, multiple chairs and tables are introduced. Ali takes two powerbombs, the first being on a stack of folded chairs. The fight heads out of the building, the highlight being Angels diving off the top of the SF trailer onto Cross, Ali, and Keys.
Back in the ring, Angels and Cross have Ali down on his knees, begging for mercy. Keys come in from behind and nutshots Cross and Angels. Ali grabs the mic again and cuts a promo on Papa Angels and calling him down to the ring. Papa makes his way to and into the ring. Ali is demanding Papa to fight him to save his son's life. Cross and Angels come up from behind, and nut shot Ali and Keys. Keys gets tossed, and Cross and Angels double team Ali, but Ali somehow kicks out. Angels holds up Ali for a Cross spear, but Keys pulls them over, and Cross hits Angels with the spear instead. Angels is out of the ring and Keys and Ali start waffling the back of Cross with a chair. They try several pin attempts, but Cross keeps kicking out. Ali hits Cross in the head with a chair, and that knocks him out. Time of the match: 25:15. Grade: A.
After the match, Ali and Keys continue to attack Cross, setting up a chair around his head. Angels pulls Keys off Cross, preventing Ali from jumping from the turnbuckles onto Cross. Ali lays out Angels with a shot to the head with the Classics title. Cross recovers enough to spear Ali through a table that was previously set up in the corner. Angels and Cross stand tall after the loss. Cross talks to the crowd, letting them know about some things that have happened to him in the past year. He says that this isn't the last time in a Southern Fried ring.
Final Thoughts:
1. The main event was the driving force behind this card. The other matches were advancing storylines. Nothing wrong with that.
2. Ramon, as a heel, seems to be lacking something.
3. Yes, Jacob Ashworth was in the building, coming in at the third match. Some hugs were given, but he sat down quickly. He stayed after the show to help tear down the ring.
4. It's good to see LuLu again. And Jenn Holbrook Sells. Jenn is definitely sexier than LuLu.
5. I'm starting to think that there's a new force working behind the scenes in Georgia wrestling, I'm calling them the Bald Headed Mafia.
